i can't even believe what's happened.
i'm really in shock.. without any warning i got an email from my son yesterday afternoon.
"ive been doing a lot of thinking lately, and i have decided i no longer want to be a jehovah's witness.
Thats fantastic news for him - he is so lucky to be just 14 - he has time to get out before they screw up what precious little youth he has left
I think whilst the sister idea does seem like a food idea on one hand - the fact that it's YOUR sister means you're probbaly NOT gettign off the hook for this - remember BLAME (along with fear) is what dubs feed on .....so you may as well just let him stay with you.
i recieved the news today that an aquantance who was studying and attending meetings committed suicide today.
he leaves behind a terminaly ill wife and teenage children.. my best mate (non jw) who employs this man from time to time and was very fond of him is in total shock.. he would like to know what possible funeral he may have and if he himself would be welcome to attend as a non jw.. i have passed on the gist of what i found in the cd lib but would like to know any real world situations and how they have been handled by local jw's.. oz.
The fact he was n ot baptized they probably wouldnt do it at KH
the fact it was a suicide - they probbaly wouldnt touch it with a barge pole
I saw in the elders handbook it says NOT to eulogize the deceased but to witness instead.
better for all if it's NOT at the KH... his wife is terminally ill (obviously facing her own departure) so a JW funeral is deinfately NOT the kind of message the family needs right now - it'd just do their heads in.,
on this topic we don't care what you are against.. let's be positive and tell three things we are for which are meaningful to us.. .
1.music lessons for kids.
learning to read music and play an instrument.. 2.memory training and math strategies in schools.
1. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE = that means loving someone (hopefully everyone) withouth them having to meet YOUR rules (like EXACT opposite of JW's and other cults) ..I am trying to develop this
2. UNITY in diversity amongst religions ..I research and promote interfaith topics
3. GOOD FOOD for all.... which is organic, clean, vegetarian, wholesome, nonGMO , pesticide free. and CLEAN WATER for all (its kinda 4 but thought i could sneak it in)

Ive seen some real doozies over the years especially new agers who like to mix up different theologies to prove the reptiles who came in spaceships are ruling the earth only 'we' cant tell because they are shape shifters (Google David Icke) ... I cant believe just how MANY of these peopel there are... all convinced of something totally bizzare but twisted scriptures.
something i've been meaning to ask for a while since coming here, is wsup with the writing department's use of exclamation points?
i'm no literature buff or anything, but to me personally, the exclamation points cheapen whatever they're trying to get across.

this is one subject that really annoyed me when i was a jehovah's witness - and i find it still annoys me after being out 7 years from the jw's.
the title of this jw only wt study article is " have regard for those who are working hard among you ".
in my opinion there always seemed to be a double standard in which rank and file publishers were always told to be patient with elders shortcomings - however if rank and file publishers slipped up - elders would be into admonishing and disciplining them like flies attracted to dung with no delay.
comparing elduhs to doctors is ludicrous imo. doctors go to school for YEARS to learn how to perform their trade. years and years of higher education. elduhs dont. they are window washers with god complexes.

it is wise for a first time writer to write about what he knows, so i will write about my lifetime as a jehovah's witness.
but it will likely be less autobiographical and more about the sub-level markers that eventually pointed me out of the cult, doctrinal matters that bothered me under the surface, and the very real lack of love in that organization.. ideas?

one of my husband's clients is a big Pyschologist here in the coast and today while she was getting her hair done somehow or other the ex DUB thing came up and ee talked about how I'm dealing with now after being out for over a decade (ive only JUST now - this past 2 weeks - started to address my issues)
She told me the BEST thing any person can do is to WRITE... it gets all the thoughts OUT of your head and allows you to analyse your own feeling later when you have a different vision. You may even find that when you read what you wrote, you have conflicting feelings or issues you didnt know about!
Whether you publish it or not - please write.
PS - I'd love a copy.
