i attended a convention recently but didn't wear a badge i was treated with the utmost suspicion.
particularly when i arrived during the sessions one day.
the attendant didn't want me wandering off to find a seat on my own.
I didn't have a badge when I went last year. Although I was a "study" and sat with my study conductor, I also moved around a fair bit on my own and was treated just like an ordinary JW.
just got this email...... .
subject: zone report germany date: 5/17/11 2:02:57 am.
we thought we would share one of our interesting experiences with you.
The “scrolls” are the law books of Jehovah, publications setting forth his will for
all people on earth during Christ’s millennial reign. Under the full rule of the
Kingdom arrangement there will be many new additions and many things to be done,
requiring these books of instruction that will come from Jehovah through his
Kingdom government under Christ.
"New books of instruction".
Imagine what the WTS can do with new books! Article after article! New brochures! More and more to study! New light!
This will keep the writers and the presses going for the next thusand years!
doctors, police "fight off" jehovah's witnesses over blood transfusion.. http://www.ghanaweb.com/ghanahomepage/newsarchive/artikel.php?id=211555.
bangalore.
.
This is an extraordinary story. I know Witnesses, including an elder on the hospital liaison committee, who can "prove" that as well as being wrong, blood transfusions are very dangerous.
More than that, they cite cases where the person wasn't really critically ill. It was all fabricated by the doctors....who, of course, have nothing better to do with their time than make up risks to malign JW's!
just imagine, if that was a true statement- or maybe it is already in the works?
do you think it is possible?.
This post @AllTimeJeff and everyone
This post directed at Moshe or anyone in particular. As a general statement, I always wish to keep in front of everybody just how amateurish Bethelites are.
The idea that the GB or upper crust Bethel elders follows apostate websites as it relates to a campaign to monitor websites and keep track of moles is absurd.
Sorry, but I think that thinking is a bit unrealistic. It doesn't matter if Bethelites are amateurish or not...I have no idea....the kind of technology that can track is not particularly hard to get hold of these days.
Think about it. However much skill and know-how are needed, if they wanted to do anything technological, no matter how sophisticated, they could. Bethelites are not, as a general rule, trained lawyers, are they? But the WT has lawyers.
We know from another thread that in 2010 the annual income was $750 million...I'm not clear if that was just in the US or worldwide, but we do know that in the UK alone in that year the income was £25,767,565 and expenditure was £17,968,609.
So if they want something, they can buy it.
But they wouldn't need to. People out there are clever, even JW's. Not all are born-in and denied the chance of education. Some poor fools, like me, actually walk in, eyes wide shut, but are otherwise intelligent and educated. In the congregation here there are teachers etc, and one is not only a teacher of all things computer but does his own stuff and could probably do somehting like this while he ate his breakfast.
It doesn';t even take people who work in the business. There are teenagers out there who can do very clever stuff indeed, and I know at least two personally. I also know two further brothers in the KH who do programming, and one is an elder.
So, what I'm saying is that these days it is just not good enough to assume that something can't be done, nor that it's against privacy rights. Especially the latter.
Do you think they care about privacy rights?
I'm not saying I'm right, Jeff, Moshe and everyone, but I think I might be.
yes they do have a trinity.
jah, jesus, and that group of guys in new york.
.
IS THERE NO ONE HERE WHO CAN EVEN CHALLENGE ME?!
oh dear....
all i can say is lol!!!.
so... i have been outed... im gay, and at least one elder now knows!.
while i was at bingo tonight with jack i recieved a call from him.
Just hold your head up, Timothy, and remember they are nothing.
Live your life with a clear conscience. You are a free man!
my friend who still goes to meetings to please family said he was listening to cnbc today.. he said the government is talking about taxing religions.
the one religion they did focus on was the jehovahs witnesses.
supposedly they said why is this group making this much tax free money and they never pay any clergy or help members with any finances.. maybe they will realize it is just a publishing company using people for free labor to get richer and richer.
This is a very interesting thread.
Thanks, St George, for reminding us all that the Charity Commission site is there for everyone.
If JW's in the UK are raking in 25 million pounds, and nearer 26 million than 25, in a year then I see no reason to doubt that worldwide it's 750 million dollars.
Remember what they inherit when a faithful JW dies.
I think somebody somewhere should be investigating this very seriously indeed. Are they really a genuine charity? Hmmmm
why do the jws consider pansuits worm by women not appropriate attire?.
pantsuits are considered appropriate attire in the conservative business world.. secretary of state hilary clinton wears pantsuits quite often.. would pantsuits be considered appropriate for a visit to bethel?
if someone showed up at bethel wearing them, would be be asked to leave?.
I just posted on trousers and skirts in the similar JDub thread, and then spotted this one.I read it through chuckling all the way.
So they really do pontificate about underwear? And they're bothered about fabric between the legs? And they really thought that cutting the hair led to baldness? Really?!
Oh my goodness, it's a comedy show!
Except that it's not. OnTheWayOut is right, it IS a dangeropus mind control cult.
Be afraid, be very afraid...and very glad you are here.
this is something that has always bothered me.
as a born-in jw i was raised as a little girl wearing skirts and dresses which is clearly quite normal in terms of gender-appropriate clothing.
however, the older i grew, the more i realised that all jw women and girls wore skirts to meetings and when out in fs, but would wear trousers in their everyday life.
The dress rule is ridiculous.
For a start, different cultures have different rules on modesty. So, in Britain, it is perfectly normal for Britons with an Asian background to wear trousers as part of their normal traditional...modest...wear. Dresses and skirts would not be thought of as modest.
I was one of those "interested ones" who went to my first 3 meetings in trousers and then changed. Normally, I wear trousers all the time. When I asked why no sisters wore them, I was told that the rule is there for modesty. I was outraged! My trousers were extremely modest. But I made the adjustment. I wanted to fit in. There is another interested one in the same KH who has been studying for 3 years and who still wears trousers of a very modest nature. However, I was very committed, whereas she has managed to keep more of a distance.
When I went to my first Convention, I was again appalled to find that everyone "dressed up" as they did. It was like being at a wedding! The women were so competitive, too! They viewed the Convention as very important spiritually but they were vying with each other as to who was the smartest. Not my scene at all.
From my point of view, Jehovah, God, valued who we are inside, the state of our heart, our thoughts and motives. Why would a spiritual being care about skirts or trousers?
I agree with sizemik.
It's simply another an instrument for the subjugation of women
