Oh, great and wonderful are the ways of Jehovah!
If you believe that lot, you'll believe anything.
And they do!

Was it ever written "with" a thief but changed to "as" a thief?
by N.drew inrevelation 3:3. so remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent.
therefore if you do not wake up, i will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour i will come to you.. revelation 16:15.

"accountability to the Christian congregation".
That's the key, isn't it?
We may be accountable to God, maybe accountable to Jesus, but accountable to the congregation, i.e. the elders?
I'm very uncomfortable with that idea, and that, of course, is what the whole system is founded on.
Every citizen knows that they are accountable to the law of the land. If we commit a crime, we get taken to court.
We may be accountable to God. If we believe in him, then there's a feeling that perhaps at the end of the day there's a day of judgement. (Though even as I write that, I realise I'm less comfortable with that than I was.)
But to the congregation, to the elders? That's what the whole theocratic JW/WT system depends on, constantle instilling into the minds of those following what seemed to be a religion that they are in fact part of a completely separate judicial system.
But it is an illusion. A dream. A confidence trick. On a par with the three card trick, with a hooked audience.
They have absolutely no power at all, unless each individual gives it to them. Do you really and truly believe that God, maker of all that is, creator of the whole universe, abdicates his responsibility to the likes of Elder Joe Bloggs down the road?
Don't you think that if there really is a Judgement Day he is going to come down rather heavily on a group that so completely and arrogantly takes his name in vain?
It is a scam.

You're Never Good Enough
by Ding ini've talked with a number of jws who have commented that they feel like failures -- that they're never good enough.. if that resonates with someone reading this post, please realize that you are by no means the only one who feels like that.. in fact, the whole wt system depends on keeping jws feeling that way.
the gb wants you to feel that way.. think about it.
you are always reading or hearing about someone who puts in an extraordinary number of hours in field service or someone who goes out more than you do despite having twice as many challenges and responsibilities.

Knowsnothing
I thought God was "unchanging in his righteous ways."
God may be unchanging. How people present him isn't.
Perry
The Bible makes it clear that OUR WORKS has nothing whatsoever to do with our salvation.
What was the point of the parable of the Good Samaritan, then?
Faith and works go hand in hand. No good saying you love God and walking by on the other side when someone is suffering.
And that's just for a start.

Son of man sayings mean more than Son of God sayings.
He doesn't actually call himself Son of God, does he? It's inherent in much that he says, of course, because he constantly speaks of his Father in heaven.
I wasn't addressing the doctrine, Band, just the actual meaning of that sentence, within the context of this particular thread.

Does anyone else think there is less and less JW and religious content on this site each year?
by yadda yadda 2 ini may be wrong but it seems that with each passing year the number of real jw and religious related threads gets less and less on this site..

Am I in the same forum? I see proper debates here all the time...or am I dreaming?

I don't think I would be very supportive in them studying with your wife's family. I say that because I have experienced at first hand the persuasiveness of the indoctination process. I've seen children made so much of and "loved" to bits so that little ones glow with pride when they are given a one-word answer to say into the microphone.
I've seen little boys of 5 or 6, dressed up the nines in little men's suits, coached into "givng a talk". It sickens me, this lovely kids who have real education withheld from them, and who are told how much more forunate they are than kids in the world because they don't get given presents polluted by paganism at Christmas, and don't have to suffer the spiritistic practices of having to blow out candles on their birthday cake nor have everyone wishing them Happy Birthday, let alone suffer the indignity of a birthday party.
That kind of study and "love" will cause them huge confusion and inhibitions.
Play the head of the house role for all you're worth, but be aware that while your wife will be told to respect and obey you as head of house, she is also told that this doesn't include anything that goes against Jehovah's wishes, and so she may well secretly indoctrinate your children anyway. And her parents or relatives.
This is a very sinister tight control cult. Don't underestimate it. It causes great damage, and you can read the stories on this site from people who have very low self esteem caused by their JW childhood experience.

questions that defy JW logic No bible needed just a working brain
by thecrushed ineven before awakening from the mind control my mind would plague me with doctrine defying logic.
i'd like to share some of my self explanatory questions here.
every time i'd ask jw's these questions they would give me bs answers like we will have to wait on jehovah to tell us in the new system or some other lamo thinking stopper.

That's the Old Testament God, isn't it, Knowsnothing?
JW's excel in emphasising that side of God. They ignore the New Testament, or rather, they twist it round to say the same as the Old, whereas Christ brought a new message of a loving father in heaven.
Yes, Finkelstein, because it is a publishing commpany, a corporation designed to amass wealth here on earth.
