I think my fade has hit a rut. Do I need to grow a pair?

so here i am after about 18 months of wake up.

the first 6 months were a rollercoster of feelings as my whole belief system unravelled.

the last year has been more stable but things seem like they are just stalling now.. my wife is aware of many of my feelings although i have held back the fact that i am pretty close to denying all belief in any kind of god.

They have designed it to be hard to leave them, they are like an unscupolous compnay that offer 6mths free, then take everything you own via the small print. Writng to them to ask them to stop taking from your life, results in even more taking, your family and friends. No matter why you are leaving no matter how good a person you are...

I am sorry tha you are going through it, give it time and it gets easier. It is important to make a life for yourself in the real world. The life offered in Watchtower, with all the trinket privelages (car park duty/ microphones) have so many conditions and in reality have zero value outisde of that community.

The friends and family you lose, well for me, this is a case of letting other people chose to do as they wish. The desicion to shun is not yours, but your friends and family. I assume you are a good and conscientiable person as are most people, if they shun you, it is for them to live with and explain to themselves and the people around them. There is nothing we can do about it.

Missing family and friends DOES NOT MAKE WATCHTOWER's TEACHINGS TRUE, which though, logical, is sad. But this is the game WT plays and it is hurendously sad and destructive. They are one of the smallest religions of the world, they are statistically the poorest and least educated religious denomination. Having been through it, it all makes sense now and it is a shame to have people you love left behind in it. But that is for them to decide. by leaving we are leading the way....

Stick at it. Put lots of effort in catching up with the people our agein the world who have built up a life for themselves.

There is no way to get hold of them, other than something dodgy. The copyright is owned by WT, so either they are approved by WT for sale, or they have been Soprano'd off a truck in Brooklyn, only to have the worst bootie on board ever!

The Face of the World is changing

60 years ago, in the western world, it was rare to see in media, any representation of a face that wasn't euro-white.

these days, in response to market driven advertising, that is changing.. i can only speak for oz, and here i note that it is now quite common to see an asian face, most likely east asian (chinese, korean, vietnamese and japanese) in adverts.

I was reading in the news a few months ago that australian economics have recognised the value of being in austral-asia and having such links to china and korea.

The article said, it recognises the benefits in relationships with such countries over relationships with countries far away, uk/europe and usa etc.

It said that China was a paticular country that Australia wanted to develop economic ties with and finally recognise the geography they share. Tourism and business is going to appreciate where Australia is on the planet.

I found it interesting to read, having been to Oz a couple of times, there is a significant undercurrent of racism, or I felt so anyway. It is a lot more playful than in the west, but more vocal. But reading your post, it is evident that these changes are happening. I love Oz, hope to move there in the next 5 years.

Having left the JW's and spoke to countless, literally hundreds of people who have asked me about the witnesses, not one of them, not one, was informed or had any knowledge of JW beliefs or stands, beyond no blood, no christmas.

I have met people with JW relatives, I have met people who have elders in their family (one girl has a dad who is an elder but they dont talk religion), yet all of these people have NO IDEA what the JW's believe and they are all from the UK.

It is not enough that the JW's go door to door and that people know they are some kind of bible group, that does not count as spreading the message. At a push people may say things like "dont you think you are the only ones going to heaven, just a set number" and that is from maybe two people, but that is as near as people get to the 'good news' of WT and I am talking about people from the UK, from Europe.

I have friends from the middle east, Palestine, Saudi, Kuwait, Iraq. They literally know NOTHING of JW's. My friend who has a HUGE interest in theology simply said "isn't that an American cult?"

JW's think they are taking a message to the people of the world, in reality they are just pissing people off on Saturday mornings. Nobody outside of the witnesses know their teachings. Anyone who hasn't studied with them in the last 5 years is also hugely out of date as they have had monumental doctrinal changes in that time period alone.

25 YEARS of compiled yearbook statistics

hello again folks - as promised in my last thread here, i've been working on turning yearbook statistics into excel spreadsheets.. coincidentally, today is my 25th birthday (spare a thought for a fader).. i've now updated the spreadsheet with yearbook data all the way back to 1988 (the year i was born), therefore it now contains 25 years of statistics.. there were a lot of countries changing around and for some it was possible to create a continuation of data.

some are a simple change of name like south-west africa to namibia.

others, for example - in 1993 with czechoslovakia splitting into two countries (czech republic and slovakia) i have added an extra row that provides a continuation of the data, combining czech republic and slovakia back together as if they were still one country.

With 277,344 newly baptised people in one year, they would occupy an additional 3466 kingdom halls if every 80 were to attend a statistical 'new' hall.

These imaginary statistical halls, if built over only 2 weeks, would require the building of 134 kingdom halls continously, having to complete one every 2 weeks, all year, all over the world.

This mass building work would need much management, though only a statistical scenario, not literal, the logistics of managing such growth is no joke. With 150 years bringing nearly 8 million people, then a quater of a million a year apparantly now joining, I am sure such an organisation would be opening NEW head quaters all over the world and printing more literature and organising more assemblies than ever before.....

What's that?

Less headquaters, less literature, less assemblies? How odd...
