Today's wt study! Notice the faults?

did we all notice the way in which this weeks wt study (how to maintain a positive viewpoint) was all about keeping the flock positive even if they feel they are not doing enough in 'service'?.

the irony is that the very reason they feel stressed or worthless is because of the pressures the org puts on them to perform!!!.

In all seriousness, I do not miss the trauma of being a JW, feeling so guilty for doing so much for so little in return. Being an invisible cog in a giant machine that cares nothing beyond the demand that you keep spinning, keep on cogging...

This belief system, it's leaders AND it's followers have lost perspective, they are spiralling into a pit of melancholy and it is all their own doing.

It is so easy to step out of it..... yet we tell ourselves it is near imposible. Having done it, I have zero regrets. What a dark depressing time it was to 'serve' an organisation, to advertise full time for them,to work in their factory full time, to build building for them. It was not a humane experience, it was not a spiritual experience, it was all about absorbing as much from me as possible and with only rehashed oppresive religious opinion to consume in return for my youth.

I gave them everything and in return for having questions lost what little they allowed us to have.

They should be ashamed of what they have done to humans, using hope as a carrot on a stick to keep on demanding more..."just a little further"

Want to be a positive person? Leave the doomsday cult!

they are right or half right.

obviously josephus was a self-centered historian.

It's a tv proram to inspire kids....of course it is simplified!

Listen to Neil talk about it, he wants to inspire young people like he was inspired, seth too. Despite it's simplicity, we know there are adults that don't know this info...we were all one of them for some time! Programs like this can help such adults, if they dare watch it.

As a JW, you have blinders on. Real thick blinders. I have no doubt in my mind, that the show would have gone over th heads of most JW's, a long, long way above them, despite it being for kids. As a JW it would have gone over mine for sure. Though I am confident it is a good starting point.... It shows what science does, what it is and a little of what we have come to know. That alone is very powerful. It covers a lot of ground that took me about 3 years to cover in books alone.

Obviously the science has been diluted from raw data to a story, but this is obvious and expected on a Fox tv show. If you want real hardcore astronomy, pack your bags for university! It is a tv program on fox, aimed to INFORM, you don't start at quantum theory!

I think it did a great job and a beautiful job. As did Sagan ! Sagan inspired and informed, so does this show.

Each to their own obviously.... I like chorizo, some people don't (are wrong lol)....

The bible, whose copies are valued around 3-4 Mil. Dollars had been transferred to Ankara for safety reasons, since no owners of the ancient relic could be found.

The manuscript carries excerpts of the Bible written in gold lettering on leather and loosely strung together, with lines of Syriac script with Aramaic dialect. Turkish authorities express the bible is a cultural asset and should be protected for being worthy of a museum.

Syriac is a dialect of Aramaic – the native language of Jesus – once spoken across much of the Middle East and Central Asia. Experts were however divided over the provenance of the manuscript, and whether it was an original, which would render it priceless, or a fake. Other questions surround the discovery of the ancient bible, whether the smugglers had had other copies of the relic or had smuggled them from Turkey.

Vatican eyes the faith of the ancient relic

The Vatican reportedly placed an official request to examine the scripture, which was written on pages made of animal hide in the Aramaic language using the Syriac alphabet.

The copy of the ancient Bible is valued as high as 40 million Turkish Liras ( 28 Mil. Dollars)

p.s. I think it is fake for sure, but the Vatican REALLY want to see it.

These guys really need to get out more..... when booking a venue and some hotel rooms appears like a miracle..... it is time to pick another cult.

I once got prepared for a flight outside a terminal gate, it was a long trip, 36 hours to the destination. It was my first ever flight and I sought out somone to ask a few questions. I sat next to and started chatting with a couple who BY CHANCE, were .....going on the same flight as me.......to the same continent, to the same country, to the same region, .....yep it gets worse....the same district, .....the same tiny village.....AND ......amazingly...... the very same street!!

If you think that is beyond coincidence and ridiculous........it didn't end there... I joked "number 15?"

They said......... "17"

We all sat there mouths wide open at the most bizzare experience!

But nope...it didn't end there either....It gets worse again!

Unbeknown to me..... my great uncle owned 15 & 17!!!

By PURE random chance they were staying .....in my relatives spare accommodation (old b&b) for a wedding! The other side of the world!

Never, ever, ever underestimate probability and statistics, what seems miraculous beyond coincidence, is in fact our human ignorance of math and behaviour.

Now what was it again....needing a venue on a certain date to be available and getting some hotel chains to rent some rooms out.....miracle?

How to cope with depression?

i know its very common for jws and ex jws to deal with depression.

maybe it's a side effect of cognitive dissonance or the whole outlook on life being a jw.

but what are some ways to cope with depression?

It is important to talk to your doctor, with regard to your concerns for depression........and also to do some tests, to rule out other causes (hypothyroid etc).

They are i- Pad Nutty Now

so many at my wife's hall have rushed to buy i-pads,androids etc for use in servicetm and at the hall.. most know little or nothing about how to use them but have joined the stampede to jw.org tm and the reinvention of the wtbts.. it prompted one elder at my wife's hall to have a seminar at his house to explain how to use them in service and at the hall.. how exciting.... one 80 year old pioneer woman will be there with her new toy.. as a distraction it seems to be working quite well.

no need to worry about 1914 or other issues.. they are all nuts and getting nuttier....
