With those words Jesus created a mystery - that now
can be solved!

All you have to do is make the tiny(!?) assumption
that the 'faithful slave' is the body of men who
lead the Watchtower Society. It then becomes obvious
who these men are by analysing who actually directs
the day to day activities and future intents of the
Society. Such members of this august body would have
final say over what gets into print - and have full
control of the organizations' financial resources.
Logically, they would be:

Lawyers - and
Stock market speculators
in the Society's employ.

If you were ever an elder, how many letters did you
ever read from the Governing Body - that were actually
written by lawyers? Plenty, I'll bet! Does this give you
a clue who's in charge?

Here's a mental image:

A group of very old men are huddled in a tight circle,
fearful and uncomfortable, seated on the ground.
Around them are men standing as protectors, wielding
heavy briefcases marked "Esquire", fending off the
stones and arrows flying towards them. On one side,
a spectacled account builds a barracade out of computer
monitors displaying live stock quotes.

Wonderful News! The S.O.B.'s are on the run!

I can't wait to see this thing snowball - more lawsuits,
more exposure followed by more documents and more elders
bailing out. The whole thing may take on a life of its
own.

As to the Society's strategy, I agree with the poster
who says they will simply paint a rosy, happy picture
in the magazines and hope it all goes away. Basically,
the WTS reaction will be like a scene from a Woody Allen
movie years ago - I believe it was "Everything You
Wanted to Know About Sex" - a woman comes home and catches
her husband in bed with another woman. She protests as
he (and her) put their clothes back on. The husband simply
acts as if nothing has happened and he doesn't know what
she's talking about. Eventually, the wife just gives up
in the face of the husband's denial of the obvious.

This really will be worthy of a study by sociologists.

What logic is this? Surely, Catholics didn't think that God
actually lived, exclusively, in their building, did they?
They wondered why this happened since the temple was "OF GOD".
It appears that the Witnesses didn't really answer their doubt
in any way at all!

I offer this example above thinking of the countless times some
tragedy strikes and some well-meaning Witness quotes from
Ecclesiastes that "time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all".

So what? What that supposed to mean? If a person said
"Well, Sh*t happens" - would that be equally 'profound'?
If someone said "That's just the way life is" - how does that
explain anything in a universe supposedly ruled by a generous
Creator?

It's as if scriptures were put there simply to shut people up,
or end their doubtfilled train of thought without actually
explaining anything about the misfortune observed.

Witnesses have gotten off too easy, for too long in the logic
department.

I happened upon an article in the most recent KM that
saddened me because its silence speaks volumes about
the spiritual and emotional emptiness manifest in the
lives of so many Witnesses.

The article is called "How Important is Christian
Fellowship?" It speaks of the need for "Christian
association" , "In the Ministry", "For Personal Help",
and "At the Meetings" - those are the headings.

What I don't see is any mention of hospitality, meeting
together at someone's home, sharing a meal together,
taking a vacation with a friend, or simply spending
time together as real friends would do.
True, it refers to others praying in our behalf and how
they can "call to our attention scriptures that address
our personal concerns", but this is a pale imitation
of the real 'brick and mortar' that cements a friendship.

Even when they talk about a 'bond of fellowship', it's
within the context of some organizational dictate - such
as associating together door to door or 'before or after
a meeting'. It's like some kind of 'bait and switch'
sales technique - we pretend to care while you support some
organizational statistic.

Many of you former elders will remember the 'faithful slaves'
admonition, delivered by C.O.'s - to shepherd the 'fatherless boy'
by taking him out in field service. (Gee thanks, Brother Elder!
I wouldn't want to take up any of your time you can't count!)
I could have cried to think back about all the time I spent with
older men WHO VOLUNTEERED to try to teach me how to fix a car,
or basic electronics, or advice on getting a girlfriend! AND THEY
DIDN'T 'COUNT TIME' DOING IT!

I recall an elder in a congregation where elders were
given an assignment every month to 'shepherd' a specific
person in the congregation - he got caught fufilling his
"obligation" by speaking with them for about one minute
before a meeting as the month passed! Like horses led to
water, you can't force overseers to care, I guess.

When I read stuff like this article, I realize how they no longer
understand what a brotherhood is -

It's like they've encountered an ancient language they can't read
or the Society is trying to sing a song they don't know the
words to. I feel sorry for all the parents trying to raise good
Witness kids in this environment, they'll find little more than
heartache as reward for their labors.

he used to come in uninvited and unexpected.

"having the truth" - isn't that always what they fall back
on?

When did this silly organization suddenly turn into Gnostics?
Why should "having the truth" make any difference?
Did the Pharisees, in effect, "have the truth"? what good
did it do them?

They will go to any extreme to avoid the goodness and
faith that the scriptures really emphasize.

as we see a rising tide of problems confronting the new watchtower leadership, and a tidal wave swelling on the horizon, some interesting rumours are starting to trickle out.

we are waiting to see what the fallout will be following the dateline expose' on pedophilia cover-ups, which will undoubtedly lead to exposing the watchtower's policy to cover up other criminal behavior so as to not "bring reproach on jehovah's name.

" rumour is that the factions at headquarters are becoming increasingly divided.

I wonder if they'll ever wake up and realize how much
trouble they created for themselves by mistreating so
many, many people. The disfellowshipping they love so
much as a tool of control has been critical in mobilizing
the opposition and enmity of talented (and yes, relentless!)
shadow warriors on the internet.

They're gonna reap what they've sown, ultimately.

scapegoats in the leadership, imprison them (executing
them is better) and blame them for everything, telling
the masses that "new leadership" will now make everything
right.

Hey, Bethel! Does this sound like a plan?
Could you salvage the organization by sacrificing a few
old farts? Could you drag them out of bed at 2am,
form a judicial committee and boot them out the front
door by 3am? Could you pin all the lawsuits on them
personally?

Disfellowshipping them quickly would silence them
and cut them off from rank and file publishers, so
that all blame could be placed on them by indirect
references to their activities in the Watchtower
(you know what I mean, the ambiguous kind that doesn't get you sued)

Here's another thought to consider:
When changes are made in committees and personel,
often the authority and personal power of the newly appointed
is unclear or not precisely defined- for a while. This gives
some of you at Bethel the opportunity to take quick, decisive
action to save the organization further embarrassment. You could
act while things are still "fluid" - understand?

Well, Bethel lurkers and internet monitors,
All I can say is
You better act fast.
You need to "get ahead" of events to save
your beloved organization!

I'm curious as to the "other" crimes the Watchtower
leadership may be involved in. I've wondered about certain
kinds of fraud, bribery, or financial crimes. It would be
nice to hit them with a 'one-two' punch!

As to predictions, they will say (like old Greenlees)
"but we still have the truth!" - they will publish articles
on a few basics that differenciate themselves - like
the resurrection and 'Jehovah's name' and the preaching
work. They will repeat over and over that "Jehovah uses
imperfect men".

If you want to defeat them, you've got to keep hitting them
again and again - a centralized command will get worn out
by relentless guerillas.

It was inspired by my spiritual transformation - tho I'm
still a work in progress. I believe the human race will
undergo a profound spiritual transformation as well in the next
few decades.

Besides the connection with mysticism, I like my name
because some folks probably think I'm a Pokemon character
or Japanese anime robot (instead of an angel)
