kurtbethel, I agree with you. After I saw the movie "The sixth day" I realized that the teaching of the resurrection according to WT is nothing but a clone of one and not oneself.

I always hated shaving and just did it for religious reasons. Now I have the freedom to grow my full beard, the goatee or shave my face when I please, and it makes me feel very, very well.

Breaking Bread at the Lord's Evening Meal
by Bobcat injust a question to elicit comments on a thought i had never considered before.. r.t. france, writing in the nicnt commentary on matthew says (about the last supper), "in breaking the bread he [jesus] symbolizes his own death .
france seems to indicate that there is some symbolic significance to the breaking of the bread.
he doesn't go into any more detail.

I don't know if "breaking bread" has a special meaning, but Luke 24:30-32 makes me think about breaking the bread.
(NIV) 30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"

Unbelievable Assertion!!!!!!!
by The Searcher inwe had our special assembly day this weekend.. what the district overseer stated in his talk totally stunned me, and made me feel sick to my stomach.
he said, "christ is directing us through the governing body, and we cannot get holy spirit except through them!".
i do not wish to reveal all my thoughts on his statement, but i pray to god that it acts as a wake-up call to at least some of the audience.. suffice to say that the gb is now the mediator to our mediator, and from now on, i will have to pray for holy spirit through the name of the gb!!.

How did the Apostles and older men receive Holy Spirit? Those guys were not even FDS members according to current light. What about Cornelius?! What about the man who was performing powerful works alone? The Disciples of Christ wanted to shut him down, assuming he was in the wrong. Christ said " He who is not against us is for us" , that guy had Holy Spirit!!

If the FDS is the GB and the FDS ONLY exist in the last days, according to the "new light", and "Jehovah does not provide wisdom through Holy Spirit apart from the Faithful & Discreet Slave Class", Who received wisdom and power the first-century Christians from? Remember that none of them were the FDS.

that feeling reminds you that it's okay to not be sure about everything and it's okay to love persons even if they don't read the same literature or hold the same views as you.. it's okay to make mistakes because the people who love you will not pull back their love and association because of it.. the persons who are around you genuinely love you and are not just trying to portray 'love' because it looks good to 'potential' sheep.. it's even okay to try new things and it isn't a bad thing when you're actually enjoying life.. i don't have to try to be someone that i'm not and my worth is not, not.... my worth is not measured by a number on a piece of paper.. i can go through life at my own pace and i can be different.. that feeling reminds me that i can be myself!.
i know that you get that feeling also.

We are in for a blizzard!

from where i sit, just outside of boston, it looks like up to 2 feet of snow from friday to saturday with high winds that will make travel very difficult if not impossible.. .
