Start humming Kingdumb Melodies instead. That'll make you wish for Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows.

Oh God, I Hate That Tune.
by Englishman inlast week, i was gurgling merrily at an episode of the simpsons.
it was the one that is a parody of the "thelma and louise" film where marge and her chum are being pursued by homer and chief wiggum.. marge's chum is trying to impress her with her cool music, but when she turns on the car radio, it begins to play one of her less cool tunes, something that i have never heard before called "sunshine and lollipops".
this repeated itself several times in different vehicles, whenever anyone turned on the radio, sunshine and lollipops came blaring out.

Witnesses DO NOT Love Each Other
by metatron inthe watchtower claims that witnesses love each other - and that this love marks them.

The HATE that allows a Witness to walk thru their local mall - and feel good
that God will kill every worldly person they passI can't believe I was so callous and unfeeling as to get excited when I thought about Armageddon coming, and thinking, "Yeah, all these wicked people will be gone. That'll show 'em." It makes me sick to think that I was that kind of person, but I was. I feel guilty about it sometimes.
I never experienced real, true love from anyone in the congregation. If they had really loved me, they would still be talking to me.

Was booted out for immorality. Didn't care about it because I was angry that my abusive father was not punished and that they even suggested that he remain an elder. (He stepped down anyway.)
Am not going back because I hate being lied to, and I've learned too much about the organisation to ever want to return. My doubts have been solidified. I'm now borderline agnostic/athiest. Starting to learn towards athiest.

Devil's appearance in WT literature
by stichione ini just got the october 15th 2002 issue of the watchtower magazine.
on pages 8 and 9 we see a caption reading " jesus firmly opposed the devil".
jesus is standing there pointing at a slouching, hooded man.

Someone there has obviously seen Lord of the Rings, and thought the ringwraiths were cool.

Why are you looking forward to 2005?
by Nowhere inanyone heard anyting of 2005?
i've spoken to some witnesses here, who are really worried about 2005. they say it was pretty obvious at the last convention, that the world may end in 2005. because of 1975 and the fact that jesus was 30 years old, the last time he preached on earth... .
what have i missed?

2005 = the release of Star Wars: Episode III. The end of the Star Wars films...no more Star Wars after that. Maybe the JW was confused. ;-)

Misrepresentation of disabled poeple in the media
by Celtic inin the past, disabled people were thought incapable of looking after themselves.
we were rarely consulted about our needs, our wants or our preferences.
our parents or our 'carers' were asked what we wanted to eat, when we should go to bed, and people talked over our heads as if we were not there.

I have very little patience for people who make fun of disabled people. In high school, I only had one friend, and when she made fun of a girl in a wheelchair, I put her in her place and then ended the friendship.
I don't know what is considered "disabled" anymore, but I do not like the way it is portrayed in the media. I saw a program once about how discrimination against disabled people is alive and well. They showed (via hidden camera) people going into several different places for job interviews. One was an "attractive" but completely unqualified person, and the other was someone who was perfect for the job with the exact qualifications requested, but was in a wheelchair (as their only disability...just couldn't walk). Almost every single time, the unqualified person got offered the job. Same went for housing. It made me very angry.

Urgent Assistance Required by Anyone, Ladylee?
by Celtic inhiya!!
hope you all had a super marvellous weekend just gone, spent some of my time saturday and sunday, just floating quietly on my boat on the quiet and serenely beautiful waters of the helford river's creeks, stunningly beautiful it was, wow!!
came into work this morning, monday, as bright as a button, though straightaway received some bad news about a young lady from a fellow co-worker enabler at self direction community project.

To the young lady with the nasty parents:
I'm very sorry, but I do understand how you feel. My entire family has shunned me as well. They don't tell me anything, not even important things like my grandmother having a stroke.
I know people say suicide isn't the answer, and they're right. But I planned it myself a couple of times as well. Just chickened out at the last moment. But now that I think about it, if I had gone through with it and been successful, my family would just be saying, "See? That's what happens when you leave Jehovah's organisation." Well, that's a load of bullshit. (Excuse the language if it offends you.)
Today, I'm grateful that I'm alive and that I've left the organisation. I have never been happier. Things will get better, and if your parents don't want to be part of that and can't see how blind they are to treat their family this way, then so be it. You will find those in your life who do treat you the way you should be treated. You can even quote the scripture if you want, "There exists a friend sticking closer than a brother." It's true.

The desire to return just for family's sake
by Ephanyminitas inthose of you who have close witness family members -- how hard has it been not to just throw up your hands and just return to the society, just for appearance's sake?
my parents, whom i love very much, are witnesses, and it's very difficult for me to go day to day knowing that i'm completely letting them down.
i no longer believe anything the society says, but oh how tempting it would be to just go back and fake my way through, knowing that i could give my parents peace.

how hard has it been not to just throw up your hands and just return to the Society, just for appearance's sake?
At first, I considered it. Just so I could talk to my sister again. My parents can kiss my arse. But after everything I've learned here, there's no way I can do it personally. I can't sit there and lie and say, 'Yes, I want to be a part of this organisation again," when my heart and mind aren't in it. I would feel like too much of a hypocrite.
Besides, my husband calls it "emotional blackmail" and I agree. I will not succumb to blackmail. :-p
