When I read the first post, I thought maybe my mind was playing games with me. Glad I'm not the only one who also remembers this. I bet he felt really smug.

Cruel Joke by Circuit Overseer
by diamondblue1974 ini was reading the thread about the prospect of the wts releasing some new light shite about a prophecy to fulfil the fact that they are not growing and it brought back a really horrid memory, unintentional i know but horrid nonetheless.. the co visited the congregation were i was from and after the obligatory song and prayer, it was announced that the co needed to speak to us urgently on a local needs issue.
he came onto the platform his look was sombre and melancholy (nothing new there then).
he said he had an announcement from the governing body and that their had been a law passed that day which banned jw's in the uk that the usa and other world governments had notified the wts that they were to follow suit shortly.

So How Does Your "Never Been A J Dub" Partner Cope With All Of This?
by Englishman inmine does very well!.
she's astonished at the df'ing thing more than anything else.
she reckons it's all about control and power.

Mine was a great help in getting me to start thinking deeply on the JW subject, because early in our relationship, I was still brainwashed and considering trying to get reinstated. He just asked thought-provoking questions that I couldn't answer with all my JW studying and programming.
That was a few years ago. Now he saw I had the NWT out, and said, "You're not still reading that rubbish, are you?" Hee-hee! I had to explain that I was talking to someone who has a JW relative about it. -

My mom was just rushed to the Hospital....
by rwagoner in.
and you know how i know...... not because my dad called me or anthing like that..... thanks to years of working in law enforcement/public safety i'm pretty nosey and have a "scanner" in my house that monitors police, fire and ambulance calls.. just heard the ambulance go to my parents house because my mother wasn't breathing properly..... she has renal failure and must go to kidney dialysis 3 times a week.
sometimes for no reason her body simply stops processing fluids and she "fills up" and basically begins to drown from the inside.. i can only assume that this is the case tonight....of course nowdays hospitals wont tell you anything without the patients permission...... keep her in your thoughts....she may shun me but i can't help but worry about her.....

I know what you're feeling. My family won't tell me when my gran has major strokes. I find out from her friends or my grandfather. (My grandparents aren't JWs. They live in the US.)
I would send her flowers or show up anyway. Show them what love really means. Maybe next time, they'll tell you. -

I just did an evil
by seven006 ini went down to the local 7/11 a few miles from my house to by some 7/11 stuff.
as i was standing at the counter i glanced out at my car to see a little cheerleader wannabe girl leaning against it.
she was drinking a slushy type drink talking to her bubble gum little chicky buddies in her mom's new lincoln navigator next to my car.

Doesn't he know who you are? Anyway, I'd just send him a thank you, and tell him that you are aware of the verses he pointed out, but that in this case, you prefer James 2:16.
"If one of you says to him, ?Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,? but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?" (NIV)
And then tell him that you cannot, in good conscience, ignore that Scripture. -

Does anyone else do this?

For me, the need to one-up someone was what drove me to the edge with one of my coworkers. Anything you'd done, she'd done faster, better, and with more famous people. In her own mind, anyway. We used to make up complete BS stories to see if she'd try to one-up us on those. Naturally, she did, and we had our own private giggle. I think a lot of the "quirks" we see in other people (and ourselves) are due to insecurity.

B. talked a blue streak today!
by bebu insome of you know that i have a daughter with a language delay; she is 5 1/2 right now, but talks more like a 3-year old in many respects.
in fact, a great deal of her speech has been cut-and-paste phrases she picked up around the home or on tv.
she has recently been using some phrases in better context, so we've seen progress.

I can forgive my sister and brother, because they are still so brainwashed and think they're doing the right thing. I know how difficult this is for them, and they just aren't mentally and emotionally equipped to see past the programming right now.
But my parents? No. I am beyond caring what those two abusive people do or say. My life is FAR less stressful without them in it. I do not consider them to be a real mother and father. They are playing the victim despite being the abusive ones, so they can kiss my pasty white...bottom. I don't carry the anger around with me anymore; I just don't care WHAT they do. They are meaningless to me. -

Is Your Lifestyle So Much Different Since You Left The Organization?
by minimus indo you see a difference in the way you live now that your out of the "truth"?
more materialistic?
more "worldly"?

Yes, I've become a drug-addicted, alcoholic, demon-possessed prostitute suffering from many sexually transmitted diseases. Orrr not. *rolls eyes*
My lifestyle is different because I am free to think for myself, decide for myself, and do as I please. I am not a "bad" person. I still have never touched drugs, never smoked a cigarette (I have asthma and would never touch them even if they weren't bad for your health), never been drunk, and haven't slept with a bazillion people.
I don't have to waste vast quantities of my life going to boring meetings and trying to shove "Bible educational messages" down people's throats. I celebrate birthdays and holidays. I go to bars and pubs if I feel like it (although we don't much anymore coz we're homebodies). I use "bad" language sometimes.
But the major lifestyle change?
I'm happy and I truly love people, not just the ones who toe the line set down by some old guys in New York who claim that God talks to them. -

There was a missionary who returned to our area after spending some time in South America. He felt he was qualified to be appointed as an elder, but the elder body said he had to wait until the CO visit. Apparently, he argued with them about it for a while, and then they decided to switch congregations. Funnily enough, he got appointed right away in the other congregation. There was "bad blood" between him and the original BOE ever after.
