I used to love buying knockoffs in Hong Kong's "Ladies Market" in Kowloon. Got lots of cool stuff. :)

GG is right. :) Be strong...throw yourself even more into your own family life. And at least try to take the initiative to show them that you love them. If they reject you then, at least you know you've tried your best. Maybe someday something will open their eyes, as yours have been opened.

Surprising reactions from being caught offguard
by Mysterious ini do directory assistance for several areas of the united states including patterson new york.
the other day i had a woman phone and initially asked for the number to the kingdom hall and then corrected herself and said the watchtower bible and tract society.
i found her listing and closed the call in about 15 seconds but it left me shaken up for the rest of the day.

I got the really nervous, sick to my stomach feeling when my "mother" unexpectedly rang me on 9/11 to try to frighten me into going back to the KH. After I hung up, I was literally physically ill.

Did Anyone Here Read The Chapters Every Day Before The Memorial?
by minimus in....to get in tune with what happened to christ during the last week of his life?
i never did.

Sometimes. But I found it really boring because I already knew what it said. So I read them as fast as I could, just so I could say I'd read it without lying. I rarely read the daily text.

who remembers their first day at school
by tijkmo ini remember mine...it was in the days when all pupils gathered daily for a service to start the day even though it was not a religious school...anyway my sister had started the same school the previous year and my parents had informed the school that she would not be attending the daily service..not a problem..except for some reason they assumed that because i was the same surname the school would make the connection that i wasnt to go into service...but they didnt and so i found myself right at the front of the hall on my first day not even 5 years old in my new blazer and short trousers with all the other pupils behind me knowing i shouldnt be there..so i started crying..and first my teacher came to see what was wrong but quickly got frustrated because i couldnt explain myself..so she smacked me for crying and kept smacking me to get me to stop crying and then got the headmistress to smack me to get me to stop crying until eventually time was up and they had to cancel the service.....result...still loved school though...tijkmo

I don't remember hardly anything from that period in my life. I went to 2 different schools for kindergarten, as we moved halfway through the year. I remember one day from each school, and that's it. I remember my first kindergarten teacher's name (Mrs. Hickman). I remember getting in trouble because she told me I could just draw pumpkins, not jackolanterns. So I did.
When I got home, my "mum" pulled the picture out of my bag and asked me what it was. She had that "you're in trouble" voice going on, so I did the best my little 6 year old brain could come up with. "They're not pumpkins. They're orange balls with green sticks on them." Hee-hee! Anyway, that's the only day from the first school I went to that I remember.
I was tortured mercilessly by my fellow students, not only for being a JW, but also because we were very poor and I looked horrible. I was so thin, I was practically skeletal, wore huge glasses, etc., etc. -

Did You Feel Guilty Because You Couldn't "Do More"?
by minimus intruthseeker made a good thread explaining just how much time we actually do spend in the "cult".
most of us couldn't do everything that was expected.
were you one of the guilty ones??
-
Wolfgirl
I went back and forth. Sometimes I felt guilty because I wasn't feeling any blessings, so I assumed it was because I wasn't doing enough. And other times, like when I tried to aux. pioneer permanently, I didn't feel guilty about not doing more because I realised I didn't enjoy it.
I did feel guilty about not enjoying pioneering, you know, not having "the pioneer spirit." The mind games...round and round...vicioius cycle. Anyway, I kept getting sick, so I blamed my non-pioneer status on that. -
