Apparently, the urgent nature of being deep in the time of the end hasn't gotten through to the JWs whose KH is only a few miles from our home. No tract here.

Why would this even cross my mind?!?!?!?!
by Juniper inwell, after 10 years of being together, hubby has decided that he's found his 'soul mate' (the second time this year, neither of which was me) and is moving out.. i'm thirty years old and no kids, thanks to the fact that i spent 12 years in full time service telling everyone it's better to wait until the 'new system' for raising a family.
that's all beside the point - and perhaps better suited for my counselor.
:) anyway, the thought that keeps going through my mind is "this never would have happened if i didn't leave" and "how am i going to find someone to spend my life with at this age and who will understand me the way an ex-jw can"???

It is better the second time around in many cases. Don't feel like you're too old; that's just silly talk. :) My 2nd husband has never been a JW, and is an athiest. But he's very supportive, and has been such a help to me. You don't have to meet an ex-JW to have someone listen and support you. Give it time.
I know it hurts now, but it will get so much better. Trust me. I know.

SCARY(actually hilarious) JW Urban Legends (smurf content)
by *jeremiah* indoes anyone have any dub urban legend stories?.
i remember a story running rampant when i was in my pre-teenage years that went a little something like this:.
word on the street was that a young child went to the circuit assembly with his parents.

A sister(working by herself for some reason), knocks on the door of a killer or rapist to offer the good news. She makes her presentation and talks for some time with the man, gives him some literature and leaves. As she is leaving, a patrol car passes by the house and recognizes the man as a suspect they have been looking for. The officers jump out and arrest the man on the spot. As they are on their way to the precinct, one officer asks the man why he didn't attack the woman who was talking to him.. The man's reply........? "How could I when she had those two large men standing there with here!"
I believe this actually made it into the literature. I do seem to remember reading it, complete with one of those old crappy drawings they used to use in the late 70s or so.

Sex before marriage = a miserable marriage according to WTBTS!

If I had lived with my first husband before we got married, I never would have married him. You don't truly know a person until you live with them, IMO. I'm very glad my second husband and I lived together for a year before we got married. We have a strong and happy marriage, and no, I don't feel guilty for having sex before marriage. If I were still a JW, my "conscience" would have killed me. Now I know it was just brainwashing and browbeating, not MY conscience.

New special campaign....a few things that most don't see....
by RedPill2006 inok. we have that "special" campaign ahead.....i still don't know how i will avoid participating....my family is all excited and will put the pressure on.....i might get my 50 tracts and toss them somewhere......it will look suspicious that i finished after an hour and "placed" 50 pcs in a territory that is closed to jw.....anyway.
here a few thoughts that crossed my mind:.
everybody at my hall is all excited about this special tract and i can't get the nice conversations i usually have with a few going, because of the excitement.

If you are forced to go out door-to-door with the bloody things, tell them you will work on your own so you can cover the territory more quickly. Put a post-it inside each tract with this website and silent lambs website addresses in it. If you actually do meet any people, tell them that you are warning them about this destructive cult and their propaganda, and to warn all their friends and family members too. Explain that JWs shelter paedophiles, and that you wanted the public to know.
Some people might think you're crazy, but at least some will listen, none of your JW family will be any the wiser.

Good news: No longer an elder; Bad news: Disappointed wife
by doinmypart inmy wife & i have a good relationship except when it comes to things dealing with the wts.
over the past few years we've both made concessions, and i even made some headway in getting her to think about some things.
but from time-to-time we would end up arguing about something wts-related and there would be days of tension between us.. well, a few weeks ago we were having a casual conversation about wildlife in our area, she mentioned something about jehovah ruining those who ruin the earth.

Gill's reply is spot-on. If you show your wife what true love is, eventually she'll come around. If you do everything you can (bar going to meetings) to make her life good, she'll come to see who is showing true love and who isn't. Do special things for her, leave her little notes, show her how much you love her. She'll see she has it good with you.

by AlmostAtheist inhey all,.
i'm practically brain-dead this afternoon, unable to handle anything of any intellectual level to speak of.
so i thought i'd drop by watchtower.org and see what drivel they were passing off these days.. one of the lead articles is "should i get a tattoo?".

tattoos "are often the visible sign that a man . . . belongs to a violent, brutal, antisocial, and criminalized subculture."
Oh dear. I'm in trouble. My husband has 13 tattoos, and I have 4.

Did You Ever "Tell Off" An Elder or Circuit Overseer?
by minimus ini know of very few that would "dare" tell off a co but elders were different.
having been an elder for many years, it was very easy to go back and forth with a fellow elder and basically tell him he was dumb.

Once at a quick build, an elder criticised me for something or other right in front of a bunch of people. I told him to shut up. That didn't go down too well. There were other occasions that my outspokenness got me into trouble, but I can't really remember all the details now.
