God's channel withholding information
by ballistic inover the history of the watchtower society, they have published numerous medical articles with warnings of dangerous substances such as aluminium and others promoting quack medicines which never worked.
is it not strange, that the people choosen as "god's channel" would get these things wrong?
even stranger is the lack of information on truly dangerous substances.

When did you realised that everything had changed?
by In_between_days inin life, there are certain pivotal moments when you realise that every thing has changed dramatically.
it's a breathtaking and overwhleming feeling.
you may think back to who you were on this day a year ago, compared to who you are now - the contrast is incredible.. i find change in viewpoints and thinking evolves slowly, over a long period of time, you dont know the change is taking place until one day, you realise for one stunning minute that you are everything that you never were.

It was a gradual thing. I think the kicker was when 1. no one in my family (active JWs) thought it was important to tell me that my grandma (not a JW) had a second stroke and 2. my aunt (also df'd) told me the whole UN thing.

DO YA MISS "THE SWEET FELLOWSHIP"?
by minimus inone of the major reasons that a disfellowshipped or disassociated person has for coming back to "jehovah's organization" is that perhaps they will miss the "sweet fellowship".
after hearing comments regarding the km article on how to treat disfellowshipped ones, i must wonder why anyone of sound mind would think a disfellowshipped person would miss anything from the organization.
viewing persons as "dead" while out of the organization would not make one feel anxious to return to jehovah's loving arrangement through the organization.whoever coined the term about missing "the sweet fellowship" was pretty clever.

I note from that scan that we can look forward to our annual Gestapo visit (2nd Column, first bullet point).
They wouldn't even answer my plea for help a few months after being disfellowshipped. I was upset because my sexually abusive father was allowed to remain an elder. I asked some questions about some of my doubts. Months later, when I asked my sister (still an active JW) to find out when I would hear from them, they told her I 'sounded argumentative, so they weren't going to answer.'
Now I couldn't give a toss if they did. Not going back.

WERE YOU TREATED POORLY IN THE CONGREGATION?
by minimus inwhen you were associated in the congregation, were you treated in a way that made you feel like you were a 2nd class citizen?
how were you regarded?
were you the brunt of criticism or were you pretty much well-liked?

I was never accepted by anyone, and had rumours spread about me all over the place. I never understood what I had done to deserve it. I was baptised at 13, my father was an elder, I auxillary pioneered in the summer when I wasn't in school....
I finally realised it was because I was ugly as a child because I was too skinny, and I didn't have the right clothes because we were poor.
Ah, that warm Christian love.

I think my funniest experience was when someone turned a hose on me when I was walking up to his house. I simply thanked him because I was hot.
When I was a little kid, I used to play "house" at the door when my mum was giving her presentation.

Thank you for this. The info about the cross was one of my niggling doubts, and the earthquake stuff never rang true for me.

Did you experience favouritism at meetings?
by haujobbz in.
as former jw i did witness favouritism towards elders and circuit overseers and also noticed how low status j-dubs actually lined up to speak to the circuit/overseers wife.even outside association seemed to be confined to say elders associating with elders etc.
i remember when even a sister gave a glass of water to a coughing circuit.overseer but i noticed she never did this to others in the hall.. then for instance how many at the hall formed groupies after meetings not making any effort to gell with others,i felt so sorry for those just sitting on there own.. so why do they act like this, it beats me because a lot of literature and talks focused on not being impartial to others, were they really taking it in or was it a question of congregation status or favouritism towards others.. also outside the meetings association didnt seem to exist and only confined to a certain favoured individuals.

Sisters in our halls were not deemed worthy of doing this. Only brothers were allowed to do it.
I witnessed and experienced it all the time.
