  i called the number alanf listed, 718-560-5000 and got a woman on the phone who said "hello--oh, i mean, jehovah's witnesses".

  i asked to speak to ciro aucilino and she transferred me!!!!

  i must have called brooklyn!!

  JW Numbers Are Set To Grow

  despite the lackluster records of jw number growth in the past 6 years, i believe that their numbers will start to swell again and remain high for at least another 10 years here is why.. the society is becoming more and more business like in its approach (especially after last year's re-org) on how to maintain and increase growth.

  the wts, like any corporation when it becomes acutely aware of stagnation, begins to formulate a number of new techniques in order to bolster its sagging membership or sales.

  this could include, tv ads (i believe intuit39 mentioned something to that effect), radio, newspaper and magazine ads and direct mailings.

  I can only hope you are wrong & I believe you are, 5 reasons.

  1) THE CARROT & STICK: Paradise & Armaggedon just around the corner, is no more,with dates like 1975.

  2) The NET will & is growing fast, the new generation has been weened on the Web, the lies of the WT are there to see, they can't hide.

  3) Revival of Nationalism, it becomes harder to dismiss those that relish in the distruction of their government, while enjoying its freedoms, TAX-FREE!

  4) The boooring meetings, they were tolerable when "the end was just around the corner", but not now.

  5) The shunning, blood issue, pedofile protection, etc., they will have to try & squirm out of these insane beliefs, but they will have little success.

  Will they go out of business, probably not, the elite of the Borg will always live well, but they will morph into something smaller & much different. IMHO

  Near Death Experiences - How do JWs explain

  i'm not a jw, but it is my understanding that jw's don't believe in an immortal soul that passes on after the body dies...that when a person dies, they 'sleep' until called forth in the resurrection if they were found worthy.

  is that correct?

  if so, what do they think of the numerous documented near-death experiences over the centuries?

  WARNING - THE WTBS CAN LOCATE YOU

  guys and girls.

  the society have now instituted carnivore - their data tracking system installed into the uk bethel to track all apostate email and activity.

  the reason is the amount of "leaks" of confidential mail and facts.. they have tried and failed with legal blocking, so now they are plugging the leaks, these guys were brought into mill hill late last year after the leak of the june 1 letter.. their method is to use message boards and chat rooms for the "disaffected" and get them to go to other "society monitored" web sites.

  i live in the u.s. and was brought up as jehovah witness.

  baptized at 13, df'd at 16. reinstated at 23 and 1 month after reinstated...went inactive!

  between 17-23 i found out what the "truth" really was, and that the wtbts did not have it.

  Why God cannot have existed forever.

  why god cannot have existed forever.. this is something a friend of mine brought up a number of years ago.at the time i just thought that to understand how a god existed forever was just beyond our little brains.. well now after reading a lot more physics books i think its evidence a god couldn't have existed forever and therefore would had a begining (if there was a god).. basically if god had lived from infinity in the past we wouldn't have been created yet as there would always be forever untill we were created.. do you get that?.

  at any point in time we could take, if time went back forever then you could never get to that point in time.

  you would always have infinity infront of you.. sorry if this doesn't make much sense as it is not easy to describe.
