I remember when the news came on the tv and they would say something about peace or security I would get nervous. Oh no the big A is on it's way. I remember watching and thinking oh please don't say both those words together, or say we have world peace.

Weird Childhood Thoughts
by pettygrudger inwhen i was growing up, i used to think that as long as they made fuzzy loving commercials (i.e.
the faygo one was my favorite & coke second) that the trib & big-a couldn't possibly come!!!
i also used to plan how i would hoard food & water in holes in my backyard that we wouldn't have to eat all the icky mice & insects my mom said we would have to live on.

What is a Ministerial Servant?
by footprints inbecause this site has taken a survey of past or current ministerial servants and posted a list, i think it is important to make it clear that: not one ministerial servant was appointed by holy spirit.. current and ex ministerial servant are no more special or important than anyone else.
in fact some are a lot less trustworthy than the average.. .
on this note i would like to hear from all of you two things:.

Isn't a ministerial servant basically a elder in training? Do you have to be a ministerial servant before you could be an elder?

by mamashel inthis is just an update on an earlier post about jw youth dies in car crash.
long story short, he was killed when his car struck a pole because he fell asleep at the wheel.
his father had recently kicked him out of the house (he was only 18) becuase he was missing meetings.

So sad to hear of a young persons death. It's amazing how they judge even in death. I remember when my favorite Grandmother died when I was a child, she had passed away very suddenly in the middle of the night. The next morning I was so upset, but my Dad made me go to school that day. He said you will probably see her in the new system. Since she wasn't a witness, he said now she will have a chance at everlasting life. I will never forget that coldness. My teacher and classmates gave me more sympathy than my own witness family.

Am I damaging the silentlambs cause?
by Simon inone of the few unfounded (i think) accusations that have been thrown at me by certain people is that i have caused 'untold damage' to the silentambs cause.. i don't know quite what this is supposed to mean or what i'm suppoed to have done or whether it is anything more than just 'mud' flung by people who find it easier to criticise rather than actually do anything.. over the last year (is it?
) i've been happy to promote the silentlambs cause and have hosted links to bills site and vidoes / sound files of tv programmes, radio reports, photo's of the march etc... as well as providing a place for people to meet and arrange things.
i hope it has been useful and helpful to at least some people.. if i have inadventantly held things up in some way then i unreservedly and wholeheartedly apologise.. all i can say is, i do my best and may not always get things right.

Simon, Thanks to you and this site, I learned about the Silent Lamb cause. As a victim of child molestation at the hands of a Jw, I can say you and all the great people on this site have really helped me.

shunning
by musky ini have heard a lot of stories of how ex-witnesses are shunned by their witness relatives.
i assume that if it were not for the watchtower rules, most anyone would not be shunned anymore, because our relatives love us.
my question is, are there any who think they are shunned by relatives who don't really like you anyway, and are using the "watchtower rules" to justify it?
-

I have relatives I do not care for, but I talk to them when I see them. the only relatives I shun are the JW's in the family. the reason I have done this is because I couldn't take the hot and cold behavior.

Damon was making fun of the witnesses on his show "My Wife and Kids" a couple of months back. I do not remember what exactly what they were saying, but it wasn't positive.

What JWs are passing out in response to Silentlamb
by Joyzabel ini was outraged when i read what a friend of ours was given him by 2 jws yesterday when he asked them the question about the child molestation issue.
i can't belive the jws have the guts to pass this stuff out.
the people we were with at lunch today all looked at it and was replused at the wt's reply.. what do you think?.

It makes me angry. I wonder if my own father is passing this crap out, knowing his own child was molested.

Living the JW 'simplified lifestyle'
by truman inthough i haven't heard as much about this concept in the last few years, during much.
of my tenure as a jw ('74-'01) there was frequent mention in the pages of the wt urging.
witnesses to live a simplified lifestyle.

I know my JW family do not live the simplified lifestyle. The have every new thing that comes out, they just charge it on the credit card, second mortgaged the house and then cry we have no money to my non witness Grandmom. My Grandmom called me one day saying how much my Dad was in debt. She couldn't figure out why they where so far in debt. I said Grandmom they think the end of the world is coming, so they won't have to pay it. My Grandmom still doesn't believe her own son could be so irresponsible, or that he actually believes in armeggedon is coming any minute.
