  ii think this board is a perfekt place to speak about this very bigg problem.. i grow upp in a jw family in 1960 when flower power was a bigg thing, many of these who try canabis, marijuana, ended upp dead, and for mee it was not even in my wildest fantsy to tke this things.. today this is a very bigg problem , even among jw i think, it is not easy to find your children use this stuff, and also defending it and try to tell that it is much more dangerus widh two ore three drinks on satterday evning.. i have two boys who almost worshipp this drugg canabis , and say it open your mind, helping you to see things as they realy are.. perhaps some here have expiriens how you as a parent must akt, i have never hitt my children, i heve never force them to bee a jw, ofcourse this is a very bigg problem , for mee, and i think fore many who have been involvd.

  inn sweden it is a crime to use this or to sell it, i now in some other countrys it is not forbidden, so if some one want to give some addvice, thank you.

  i have contacts with quite a few dubs....still and can talk freely to a small number.

  thats the conclusion that i've come to.

  Too wierd to be true... but it is... Elders???

  well yesterday i go the visit of two elders of my congregation, my wife told them that i was acting like an apostat as i talked two days before to two mormons, yes i told them that that they were in a cult like the jw's and they couldn't think for themselves like us, boy i got a real sermon from them, my wife told them that i was on anti-depresants and that they made me ack a bit crazy sometimes, well i know one thing, it wont be the last time i will here from them.

  i know 3 years ago i got a talk by the elders but that time it was for buying lotto tickets, again my wife found a ticket in my pocket that i forgot when i put my cholths for washing.

  i got the talk, but no sanctions again.

  i just wanted to know what others thought about this archbishop's comment.

  he said that abortion was a bigger sin than child molestation.

  do you agree or disagree and why?

  Considering that the catholic church is responsible for 6 million European murders, they are hardly the moral authority. However I think molestation is far worse then death, because at the last the child isn't suffering at the hands of the abuser for years on end, and possibily becoming a molester themselves.

  Pacific NW Apostate Fest

  i understand that there is to be an apostate fest here in seattle next weekend.

  does anyone have info on that?.

  there is supposed to be one in eagle creek oregon sometime in sept. i think also.. i would love an opportunity to put names to faces and have "fellowship" :d with like minds.. thanks in advance.. blessings.

  rodney stark was featured briefly in the short watchtower video exposing the benificial nature of "disfellowshipping" (which is a made up word that does not appear in the bible!).

  i found a 1997 paper that he wrote with larry iannaccone entitled, "why the jehovah's witnesses grow so rapidly.

  a theoretical application" and which was published in the journal of contemporary religion.

  Ok, I'm going to dust off my press credentials, and see if I can't do a video interview with him, because he's local to me, at the University of Washington, I got a phone number and e-mail address for him, will try to contact him shortly. It lists an AOL address, but I can also get his UW e-mail address. (Convient to having UW contacts. :)) What I would like from you guys, is a list of good questions to ask him. If I get the interview, I will post a link to the video.

  i have read many opinions about jw's being a cult.a dictionary describes cult as a system of religious beliefs and ritual .. some have viewed even major religions as a cult, such as the roman catholic church.based upon webster almost anybody or anything that is viewed as ritualistic could be said to be cultic.when someone tries to negate jehovah's witnesses by using.

  the "cult" word, i believe they are not seeing that many others could legitimately be regarded as a cult or at least "cultic".therefore the word loses alot of meaning.

  some have said that the watchtower is a cult because of the control factor.
