I have almost the entire rainbow brite collection in mint condition - better then straight off hthe shelf. I also had Transformers, but the hubby took those when he left me. I have Popples, My Little Pony and Care Bears. Isn't toy collecting fun? Always makes me feel like a kid again. I get most of my things on e-bay. No time for thrift stores.

Please Help: Disfellowshipping--Scriptural View
by GinnyTosken ini'm hoping you all can help.. an active jehovah's witness joined us in chat tonight and was dismayed that this site slams witnesses for trying to follow the bible in matters such as disfellowshipping.
this chatter feels that many people here complain about the society's policies without offering evidence that the policies are without scriptural backing.. i must be at work very early monday morning, so i could not stay in chat as long as i wished.
i told the chatter i would start this thread so that s/he could gather information and opinions from several sources.. in chat i was trying to present a point that i remembered from in search of christian freedom, about how disfellowshipping was meant to be a personal choice, not a decision forced on the congregation by a small committee.

In my case I was repentant, very much so. But, I was DF'd as the elders put it -- to set an example that such courses would not be tolerated. Also, they warned me in the past about bad association and I did not heed their "advice." More like I did not obey the elders. I came back, but I knew then something was terribly wrong. How could the elders be directed by Jehovah if they were wrong?
A friend of mine was DF'd as well. She was told in her meeting by one of the elders that they could see her repentance. She was dismissed while the elders discussed it. She came back to her verdict: DFing on the grounds of unrepentance.
I spoke about this issue with my father, Service Overseer. He said the elders are allowed to judge and read heart conditions. He said most tears shed in a meeting are "crocodile tears." They do not believe anything you say in a meeting, only your actions. If you commit the same sin twice, it is automatically considered a disfellowshiping act because it shows unrepentance.
Isn't it true that only Jehovah is supposed to read heart conditions? Did Jesus eat with sinners? Yes, he did. And the religious leaders of his day gave him much grief over it.
If a person says they are repentant and WANTS to return to the JW's, who are they -- as men to judge? the bible says DO NOT JUDGE YOUR FELLOW MAN. I asked my dad about that. His answer was -- well in this case it's different.

Yes I do bboy. I also have Remembrall Malfoy, who is even harder to find. Still need Professor Dumbldore. I got them on e-bay. I have other Harry Potter toys, too. I am bigger on 80's toy collecting, though.

Harry Potter is a wonderful series, I have read all four books and collect the toys.
In my personal opinion, very young children should not read Harry Potter. I think it's a series for "older" children and was originally intended for adults.
Not all JW's care about that sort of thing, anyhow. I was allowed as a kid to watch the Smurfs and other Disney Movies and I was an elder's daughter. It's called fantasy and all children are entitled to that, period. Not all JW parents are that extreme, but sadly most are.
I myself cannot WAIT for the movie. I am SO excited!

DA'd myself today
by Pierced Angel inwell, i did it.. it's official and i'm relieved.. the elders wanted to try talking to me once again, but after awhile it was obvious that they were only interested in changing my thoughts not answering any questions.
so, i just calmly asked if i could disassociate myself.
they acted stunned and they got tears in their eyes, but i told them that i had already grieved and was ready to move on with life.

Being a good person has an impact on the lives of others. Everything you do has an impact on the lives of others. The waiter who served your food, the little girl down the street and the people you love. Why do the right thing? Because you and everybody else feels better because of it.
Good and evil need not be over analyzed. There are just there, plain and simple. Evil causes pain. Good things make you feel good. That's how I look at it.
