What about your vow to Jehovah?
by a watcher indid you get baptized without being dedicated?.
why did you allow men to come between you and jehovah?.
why were you serving jehovah at all?
-
Mum
Because "Jehovah" is protecting child molestors, discouraging education and free thought, and making life a living hell. JW's don't have to believe in hell because they are living it!

Do you believe Jehovah enjoys watching people suffer and why would you want to worship him?
by booker-t ini have to admit i never really thought about this question until one of my classmates challenged me with this very question.
she made an excellant point and i have to admit i am asking myself the same question does jehovah enjoy watching people suffer.
the case she brought up was the flood story.

Why should God answer a prayer to get a job while atrocities happen everyday?
by BU2B ini had a conversation yesterday with my wife, who seems to think every good thing that happens to her just has to be jehovah, and every bad thing, she just knows is satan.
this irritates me to no end.
i told her yesterday that i have trouble praying to have relatively petty thing resolved in my life, meanwhile around the world, many people are raped mutilated, tortured, and killed everyday.

Heartbreaking. I have a friend who turned atheist after working in a children's ward and seeing sweet, innocent babies suffering and dying every day.

Having someone or something to blame works for a lot of people. It's also a way to avoid personal responsibility and taking action to improve on your own. If we don't blame the devil for our sorrows, then we would have to blame our spouses, children, friends, etc. I'll let them have their devil if they'll leave me out of it.

When You Were A Little Kid And Your Dad Said Prayer, Did He Ever Say Anything Strange?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inmy dad used to pray for the witnesses behind the iron curtain.
i couldn't figure out why were they caught behind this heavy curtain.
couldn't they just find a door and leave?.

Mum
Once in a congregation in SE Kentucky, a brother prayed for "forgiveness for our fallin' shorts."

Hi, nonjwspouse. I was scared every minute at my grandpa's church. At home, my grandparents were hardworking, quiet, gentle folks, but they went crazy (or it seemed so to me) at church. I felt vulnerable because they were somewhere else!

Julia gets hit with the Shun Gun for the first time...and it really hurts.
by Julia Orwell inmy jw friend of 20 years, the first one i ever met, the one who got me into jwism in the first place, unfriended me from facebook without explanation.
other jws who have unfriended me at least called me names (apostate) and told me they were unfriending me, but they were no loss.
but someone who's been your friend since you were 13...and no explanation...i'd think 20 years- 20 years!

I'm so sorry, too, Julia. She's "just following orders," which is what Nazis and JW's do.
When you get right down to it, the fact is that you have been honored. You are thinking for yourself, and shunned for it.
I recommend that you read Jonathan Livingston Seagull. He was dishonored when he should have been honored because he went outside the boundaries of being a regular seagull. He flew higher than any of the other seagulls.

ApostaCy or ApostaSy, which is the correct spelling ?
by Phizzy ini am a pedant, but the reason i care about spelling and grammar etc on jwn is that jw's will pick on any minor error and discount everything else you say, so if you are writing articles on blogs or wherever, you need to get it "right", in the sense that it cannot be criticised.. i know that "apostasy" can be written with a c and be acceptable to some, but as the origin is the greek word apostasia i prefer to spell it with an s to avoid criticism.. we should try to make our spelling and grammar acceptable to all if we wish to be taken seriously, i think we need to pay attention on here too to make sure our posts make sense, with some posts i just think, "wtf are you on about ?".
pedants rant over..

Hi, Phizzy. I hate to admit it, but I'm a spelling and grammar Nazi. Some of the things I read here and elsewhere make me wince. It's hard for me to keep mum sometimes.
I am pretty sure that the correct American spelling is with an "s." Ths spelling with a "c" may be the British spelling, but I'm not sure.
What you say about JW's and grammar does not seem right to me. My experience with them is that they are uneducated and given to lots of grammatical and spelling errors, and that's not all.
