Educated people might challenge the authority of the GB. Their authority is entirely arbitrary because, from all I can perceive, they are self-appointed. The pope has to be elected by a college of cardinals. The pope can be criticized. These GB guys will not tolerate any challenge to their authority or the burdens they put upon their followers.

Gerrit Loesch was at our DC today!
by goatshapeddemon inso, unexpectedly, the final talk was announced today and to my surprise and evil glee, they announced gerrit loesch as the speaker!
first off, at the beginning of his talk, he interrupted himself in the middle of his sentence to scold the microphone brother to lower my mike it's right in my face.. anyway, it was the talk on inspired truth, vs. inspired falsehoods.
he went through 6 expressions inspired by the demons.

He's ready to defend child molestors, but what about the children they molested? Are they engaging in "demon-isnpired expression" if they have nightmares or find it hard to trust other people?
Higher education, as was explained by a professor in a religion class I took, makes people more sensitive to the suffering of others, makes them more aware of reality and truth. People who go to college might not want to shun their brethren just because they had lunch with someone who is disapproved of by janitors and window washers.
Please understand that I am not putting down janitors and window washers for the work they do. Their work is important. The most important jobs (e.g., cleaning, caring for children and elderly, food service, etc.) are to ones with the lowest pay. The point is that people who do these jobs don't have education in psychology or critical thinking to assess others and their motives.

A cult of Sociopaths undergoing a makeover
by Terry incult members are property.. living property consisting of non-persons and non-individuals with disabled self-expression.. the tool used by this religion to control a member's desire to self-improve is attaching guilt as a stop-sign and crying: "disloyal.".
like any owned property, you are under the total control of others.
any wrong move, word or deed can label you a "danger" to the group-think.. there exists in such an authority structure only three possible stats you can achieve.. 1.compliant usefulness in carrying out assigned missions.

Another thing I've noticed about sociopaths is that they accuse others of doing things they themselves do. When the "apostates" are accused of trying to draw others after themselves, lying, and being mentally diseased, they should consider the source, i.e., the ones who really fit this description!

HOW to accept counsel and criticism from an Elder
by Terry inthere is a catch-22 that can trip you up at the local kingdom hall.. .
if you receive "counsel" from an elder about any behavior at all and you "resist" or question the counsel you can be accused of having a "spirit of rebellion".. .
so, you have to either shut up and comply (with even the most ludicrous and ill-founded suggestions) or answer back and be chastised and "marked".. .

Those "elder" guys are something else! At my JC meeting, the one who was the most hard-nosed had been a born-in JW, and joined the military when he turned 18. Then he married a "worldly" woman and had six kids! Why was he an "elder" to begin with?
They are arrogant because they really have not achieved anything in the real world, but in the cult world, they are "leaders" and potential "princes." Women pursue them. The whole congregation adores them. They are demigods, "special." They don't even know they're ignorant. Pathetic!

The Fugate family who live near or in Hazard, Kentucky have many family members with a condition called methomoglobinemia, which gives their skin a blue hue. I wonder if they are smurfs, and if they could sue the WTBTS for slander.
To learn more, google "blue people of Kentucky."

April! Where have you been? Do you remember me? I had a long absence from the board because I was in dire straits financially. Nice to hear from you. I see you're still the same - giving it all you've got!

Question for Believers - Why did god "create" poison ivy, poison toad stools, and marijuana?
by Comatose inif he created them, then he would have had to use divine intervention to protect people from eating them or burning them.
even after being told not to and passing that knlowedge on, small children could inadvertently get into poison berries or mushrooms.
what about bacteria that causes extreme stomach problems like giardia?

Maybe for the same reason he put that "tree of knowledge" in the Garden of Eden, to see if we would be dumb enough to try it in case a talking snake came along.

Did they think nothing would have happened if there were no Nazis or Catholics? Naive! Human nature is such that we divide into groups instinctively. Anti-"others" philosophy pervades every culture. Different names, same shit!

Public Talks all MANUSCRIPT now???
by hamsterbait inon another thread gingerbread said (ouch - the poetry is not deliberate!
) that all sunday public talks are now manuscript.. is this why the brothers have been doing babble readings without adding any comment?
so they can just regurgitate words convincingly whether they understand or not??.

In the '70's, when I was still in, the "talk outlines" were quite comprehensive. I didn't see much room for ad libs if the speaker followed the "outline." What is the difference between those and the "manuscripts" you refer to?
