Bottom line: anyone who thinks for him/herself, who uses the brain G-d gave them.
I'm sure, from their perspective, many active JW's are "apostates in sheep's clothing."
i don't mean the 'unruly men who cook up wicked reasoning and season their brew with poisonous lies that deceive minds' definition.... i mean - who are they actually referring to when they are doing these awful talks at the conventions about the mentally diseased apostates etc.. specifically - is an 'apostate' someone who was actually baptised (baptized for you american's ) ?
or can someone who was simply raised in "the truth" but left and was never baptised be classified as this lying, deceiving, mentally diseased apostate also?
or am i considered to be an apostate - even though i wasn't raised in the cult, never went to a meeting etc.
Bottom line: anyone who thinks for him/herself, who uses the brain G-d gave them.

i want to thank you kind folk for caring about me!!!!.
apologies for not checking in sooner, i have been so busy with the new job, and by the time evening comes i am so exhausted to log in from my laptop (that is sooooooooooooo slow).
update: job is going well - i'm back in sales and with the community newspapers known as the fever.
So glad to hear things are getting better. Good for you!
just one day perform some form of miracle in front of the entire earth in which he proves he exists???.
wouldn't this be the most loving and sensible thing to do?
for instance, this coming thursday god repeatedly strikes mount kilamanjaro to the point that it reads in hebrew, "god exists, i just did this.
If G-d would send lightning bolts to destroy criminals before they destroyed someone else, if he would cure all of the terminally ill, if he would give all humans an acceptance gene which would make them care about others who are different instead of hating them - these manifestations would restore my faith. The other stuff can be done by David Copperfield.
so tonight finally had to make a decision about the dc.
we missed saturday and sunday of the one we were assigned to.
i was going to convieniently try to forget (been working most saturdays last few months) but she persisted tonight.
"Do you think the Almighty God of the Universe really cares about a hotel list?"
Classic!
i have been out for 22 years.i was raised as a jehovahs witness.
i was baptized in 1986 but soon after left the religion.
theres a whole lot to the reasons why i left, but i left.
They have a "doctrine" that there must be two witnesses before an abused/molested child can be believed. But anything else can be "proved" by rumor and gossip, innuendo, or just being disliked by the wrong person. For example, see label licker's post about her JC.
Get real! Personally, I choose to be free and happy.
Good luck with your decision. Write down the pros and cons, then list them on this board. I'd be curious to see what you come up with.
i was reading one of the magazines about 2 years ago, about what to know about social networking sites, the warnings and cautiousness.
i am not so sure if they don't like the internet, these days almost everyone uses internet.
i know many have accounts online.
The primary requirement of being a Jehovah's Witness is mental illness. Children reared as JW's are brought up to be mentally ill. Self-delusion is their survival mechanism.
i've been trying to avoid posting this, due to extreme paranoia but its time to post my story.
i hope to not post too many details, as we've avoided being df so far, our group elder was young and lovely and cool and i just hope that in time he learns the ttatt.. i'm a regular lurker on here, occasional poster (i can't post much as my phone browser only lets me read but not post, so i only post on the odd occasion i get a time alone on the pc).
i have been fading since round about last september ( so almost my first anniversary of learning ttatt).
Congratulations on choosing to be free!
My thoughts and best wishes for your son. Have you considered having him treated at St. Jude Hospital in Memphis? St. Jude is one charity that I support because they cure children with cancer every day. Its founder, the late Danny Thomas, has assured that no one has to pay, not even the wealthy.
Keep us posted.
just realized it has been 3 years since i found jwn.. .
took me awhile to find it & went to so many sites!.
landed on rick ferron's scary place with the really wierd music,.
Happy birthday!
now that i have fully awaken from this nightmare cult, it pains me to know that i have wasted most of my life.
when i was young i was a very driven boy wanting to accomplish all sorts of things.
i smart kid and an athletic one too.
Crazyguy: Most people who pass through this world have essentially wasted lives, IMHO. How many people with brain power similar to Einstein's have spent their lives carrying water or digging in the ground with sticks just to survive another day? How many people have died young in wars, accidents, and of horrible diseases? The average life span in ancient Rome was about 27 years.
When you put things into perspective, you are one of the lucky ones. As LisaRose pointed out, at 46, you're still young enough to start over. You are probably in good health and have enough food and clothing. You may even own your own home. You're so lucky!
Set goals. Start living for today instead of lamenting the past.
I have had many failures in life, but I can't blame the Watchtower for all of them. I just pick myself up, dust myself off, and start all over again.
This moment is precious. Live in it!
I'm trying to figure out what is pictured here. Are these 3 JW guys at a convention? I can't read the badges.
If I'm not mistaken, their thumb and pinky are making the "hang loose" sign which I have never seen anyone do outside of Hawaii. Are they in Hawaii? The kukui and shell (if that's what it is) on the guy on the right might indicate that they are.
They appear to me to be doing a native pose and enjoying having their picture taken. Is there more to it?
