wiz, their religion is just a formalism to buy their way into heaven hopin' that little ol' saint peter will let them through the pearly gates.. i have started a new thread on an issue that i think some might want to comment on.

the quote above is taken from a recent exchange that took place on englishmans thread that dealt with his families attitude toward his disfellowshipped situation.. i did this not to highlight a personal failure, but because it is typical of comments that the average jw would make.. have you ever stopped to think how harmful the propagation of the, 'we live - you die, we good - you bad'' mentality is, for the thinking and emotional well-being of the jws as a group.

in fact, i have noticed in recent times that the wts itself, has been reigning in on some of the expressions of exclusivity that they have previously encouraged, worldlings for example, recognizing the harm it does to their cause.

I have started a list of oddball/wierdball 'doctrines' that JW's have in addition to what the rest of the world (theological or not) considers normal religious fare.

As D_W stated, you have made some serious points. So, I added your discussion and link to my list. I will be giving this some thought and watch for response.

I collect pertinent commentary from others and add my own editorial comments to this list. Using links/URL's and hypertext, I am compiling a 'mini-book' on these subjects.

Notice the inclusion of the relatively new 'HARBORING PRIVATE IDEAS'. THE recent WT article that formalizes this launches this 'new light', LOL. I am awaiting reports of the first DF'ing based on this article. I'm sure that this has been done in the past, but not so stated.

These off-the-wall doctrines seem to be a great part of the glue that binds the JW's together. They form the greater part of the
'mud'/mortar that is daubed over the chinks in a Dubs personality to keep them firmly in line with CURRENT Dub policy.

These obscure doctrines are more fascinating than the standard Hell-fire and Trinity fare that are getting so boring.

I see logic, good reasoning and the smell of truth in your meeting observations.

Makes me glad I was such a skinflint growing up. I didn't have any money to give them, so I NEVER DID!!!

I just gave them my chance at college in favor of pioneering. A poor bargain, but I took what I could by not contributing dollars. I'm at the opposite end of the scale now, though.

Maybe a bunch of skinflint's like me and some 15 minute/1 hour publishers should go back, LOL!!!

hi all,.

i don't know about the rest of you, but there's something that grates on me like new chalk on a blackboard.. i refer to that expression jws use to describe that threadbare tapestry of conjecture, fill-in-the-blanks theological approach to doctrines the bible leaves hazy and judgmental moralism that comprises the wt belief system-- you know, ``the truth," as in ``he/she left the truth,'' or ``how long have you been in the truth?''.

may i suggest that it be amended to ``the opinion?

Well, JW's don't believe in prayer wheels or rosaries.
(I'll bet they have something bad to say about 'dial a prayer',
for that matter.)

But they should have their own personal rosary beads. That way
they can touch the next bead when they feel the need to say 'the
trooth' or whatever.

my question is,if it is true that only j.w's will survive then surely everybody on the planet should at least get the option of becoming a witness,but there are people living in remote parts of the world who rarely come into contact with civilisation,im pretty sure there are still small tribes of people living in some rainforest who haven't even been discovered yet,where do theses people fit in,do they just perish like the rest of us?.

rush out to buy this best-seller.

there were always rumors of the magical convestion someware where all the girls were lookers and were eager to meet young brothers.. did you all go to the pub after , whats the biggest crowd you ever saw after the covention in a pub.. once there were over a hundred of us crowding the locals out.. got any stories

Well, I enter that one with trepidation. I keep remembering the old WTS saw about "....the seared conscience". Next, I remember that a combo of my father and the WTS taught me my basic honesty. Then I come to find out that both WTS & my father are in a dead heat as to who can be the world's biggest hypocrite. Sigh!!!

So, yes, I have reluctantly, in the past used Theocratic Warfare to protect my self!!! Farewell to innocence.

As Kirk said, at the end of a certain episode, "More snakes for the Garden of Eden, Scotty".

Well, Mindchild & Battman covered the two choices on living at home.
Skimmer & others got most of the salient points and suggested options for recovering your life style.

Waiting has a point, if you want to use the manipulators ultimate tool. DazedAndConfused said it well about manipulation. Amen.

I'm going to bookmark this one and out it in my growing collection of 'obscure JW doctrines'; I shall title it 'living at "home"'.

So, I have another comment.

"A guilt trip is a travel arrangement made by a controlling hypocrite." from Mustang.

Well, if the Guilt Trip is the master weapon or #1 tool, the "...show respect" business is #2.

However, the one that really pisses me off is that "...last days ....natural affection" rubbish. That is tool #3, I suppose.

But somewhere, they came up with the most effective tool of all: "...as long as you are under my roof, you'll do as I say!!!" That could be Tool #4, but it's the one you have to deal with 1st.

I've had all four (and more) used on me. Getting rid of #4 doesn't stop the rest, but it sure takes the wind out of their sails!!!

Hope you are able to stick around, however it goes.
