back in 1970, i found myself moving into one of the largest council estates in the uk.
leigh park is a massive housing complex owned by portsmouth city council.
it houses those who cant afford their own homes by offering subsidised rents.

for lets say around 7,000 and then use the same for banner advertising from the air as a promotional tool for companies?
how quickly would the microlight pay for itself and bring in a nice little earner?
anyone else interested in madcap money making ideas?.
Wow, COMF; I was about to post that. Most of the banner tugs I know about have 200 hp motors (high-performance) or better. By defintion, ultralights don't have much payload. And 'robustness' or 'stamina' is 'outside their envelope'.

it looks like the wts finally put 2 and 2 together on the us branchs failing statistics over the past few years, particularly the years 97 - 01. what happened?.
in the latter part of 1996 cos instructed elders that congregation bookstudy conductors (soon to be officially called "congregation bookstudy overseers) should not initially ask congregation publishers for their field service time reports.
instead, each congregation should have a small box so that publishers could "shoulder their own responsibility by turning in time of their own accord," by voluntarily putting their report slip into this box.
R51785: A framed picture of a pink Cadillac will be awarded to anyone whose Bible Study gets baptized.
S-Satan: This is similar to one of Jimmy Carter’s successes. He got the Georgia legislature to pass a law that repealed the practice of dead people voting.

a couple of months ago i was addicted to this board when the whole un thing was going on.
i really thought that the exposure of the wts's involvement would open the door for me to walk away from the wt without reprucussions, you know, a valid excuse so as to not be shunned.
(a pipe dream, i know) .
YoYo,
That letter that explains it away has holes in it that I could drive a Mack truck with trailer through SIDEWAYS. It's obvious that honesty is unimportant to the WTS or you, so Farkel's comment stands.
But the general leaning of the whole thing is that it will be little noticed, in the short term. That is especially the case with the JW's, themselves.
In the long term, it will be reviewed by many people and those with minds that truly function will see the faults. You see, it will be retained and on record, archived for anyone who researches, indefinitely. That is one of the functions of this board and other repositories.

i was at mcdonalds the other morning and i walked up to the counter beside my brother.
the girl was having trouble getting the cash register open and had called the manager over.. my brother's amount of purchase was $1.05.
the change was $.95.
Sounds like my girlfriend. I once said 'I forgive you'. She replied
with 'Your apology is accepted'. I was speechless. And there was no arguing with this brand of logic, under the circumstances.
Try it sometime; the results are priceless.

i'm sure most of those on this illusterous board have read articles on brainwashing by the borg.
i think they are pros at subliminal suggestion & hypnosis.. consider the following on hypnosis: an altered state of consciousness brought about through an operator (borg), the hypnotist, who engages the attention of a subject (sheep) and assigns certain tasks (service etc.
) while uttering momotonous, repetitive verbal commands (meetings & talks).
Brainwashing is where it's at. Don't you remember 'Repetition for
Emphasis' on the TMS counsel slips?
PS: Metatron, apply this counsel & keep at it!!!

wiz, their religion is just a formalism to buy their way into heaven hopin' that little ol' saint peter will let them through the pearly gates.. i have started a new thread on an issue that i think some might want to comment on.
the quote above is taken from a recent exchange that took place on englishmans thread that dealt with his families attitude toward his disfellowshipped situation.. i did this not to highlight a personal failure, but because it is typical of comments that the average jw would make.. have you ever stopped to think how harmful the propagation of the, 'we live - you die, we good - you bad'' mentality is, for the thinking and emotional well-being of the jws as a group.
in fact, i have noticed in recent times that the wts itself, has been reigning in on some of the expressions of exclusivity that they have previously encouraged, worldlings for example, recognizing the harm it does to their cause.
Farkel,
Thanks. You are so right.
'Absolute Spiritual Endangerment': your comment says it all.
'Theocratic Warfare': definitely belongs on the list. With proper poetic justice, I have used this one to save my tail-feathers, more than once. They deserve it & I owe it to them!!! Funny that they don't realize it could boomerang on them. Oh, well; 'lie down with dogs, get up with fleas'.
'Porneia': I've heard of these 'tackings' as they like to say. Does it beat the 8 times 'tacking'/flip-flop record of Sodom/Gomorrah resurrection? LOL.
I left so long ago that the 1st & 3rd were 'not visible' when I was active; I was vaguely aware of #2. As I mentioned, with quick thinking, #2 saved my butt.
Anyway, my 'List of Doctrines' requires obscure ones, that other religions are not likely to have come up with. Isn't the Dubs-evolution just plain strange?

it seems the wt is making forays into tv.
seems like something jimmy swaggart would do.

I remember going door-door on Sunday morning with Dad once and being invited in while someone was listening to Herbert Armstrong on radio (maybe TV??; it's been 30+ years). Dad took it as a good opening shot
and preached on after Armstrong finished.
The old WBBR radio station was shut down & they don't carry the networked station links that they did decades ago. WTS is missing a good opportunity and should upgrade it's ancient PR practices. If it resulted in a response, they might phase out door-door. You can dream, can't you???
And whoever said write the station manager, yes, do this by all means. Inform them that you don't see this as a Public Service, due to various features of the controversial nature of JW's.
The staff of Broadcast Stations is relatively small; while the listening audience will be in the thousands, the written feedback will be relatively small. Your voice will be proportionately large, here.
This is one instance where local, grassroots reactions have an effect.
Broadcast Stations do maintain a log of these announcements to fulfill regulatory requirements.
BTW, do they advertise to crank up local Catholic church attendance as a PSA? How about the latest revival of the Pentecostal's; is that a Public Service Announcement? Is a 'plug' for a normal, run-of-the-mill church service, WHICH IS NOT CHARITY ORIENTED, a Public Service???
I would ask those questions. There could be stations that do make such announcements on a gratis basis. But the ones that expect churches to pay along with all the other commercial or business establishments should be aware that you question the validity of the WTS claim. If there is doubt, push it to the 'pay along with everybody else' route.

I have started a list of oddball/wierdball 'doctrines' that JW's have in addition to what the rest of the world (theological or not) considers normal religious fare.
As D_W stated, you have made some serious points. So, I added your discussion and link to my list. I will be giving this some thought and watch for response.
BTW, this is the list so far:
THE DOCTRINE OF NEW LIGHT
THE DOCTRINE OF 'HARBORING PRIVATE IDEAS'
THE DOCTRINE OF 'IMPERFECT MEN'
THE DOCTRINE OF CLERGY-LAITY DISTINCTION
THE DOCTRINE OF JUDGING
THE DOCTRINE OF 'OVERZEALOUS BROTHERS'
THE DOCTRINE OF 'WHERE WILL YOU GO'
I collect pertinent commentary from others and add my own editorial comments to this list. Using links/URL's and hypertext, I am compiling a 'mini-book' on these subjects.
Notice the inclusion of the relatively new 'HARBORING PRIVATE IDEAS'. THE recent WT article that formalizes this launches this 'new light', LOL. I am awaiting reports of the first DF'ing based on this article. I'm sure that this has been done in the past, but not so stated.
These off-the-wall doctrines seem to be a great part of the glue that binds the JW's together. They form the greater part of the
'mud'/mortar that is daubed over the chinks in a Dubs personality to keep them firmly in line with CURRENT Dub policy.
These obscure doctrines are more fascinating than the standard Hell-fire and Trinity fare that are getting so boring.
