Ah the days of yesteryear, back when good old insane Freddy boy would come right out and tell you what to do. Nowdays that same article would be couched in language that made the non-JW readers think it's a personal decision, of course though we all know 'what a true christain's bibleWT trained conscience' would be ...

JW's and the YMCA
by artful inmy father and mother (both loyal jws and in their 70s) have recently joined a local ymca for it's fitness facility.
it seems to me that the wts does not look favorably on this organization, possibly to the point of prohibiting jws from joining it.
i have searched for information online but to no avail.

Saved from the clutches...
by jws inyesterday, i'm in the hospital waiting room while my wife is having a procedure done.
i sit down and on the end-table across from me is an awake magazine.
not knowing who left it, i didn't pop right up and scarf it up (to be disposed of).. as i'm waiting for the people in the area to clear, a guy a few seats down goes to pick it up.

Yes, it is littering. People should react the same way that they would if the dude were going around leaving a big pile of steaming crap. Which is exactly what he was doing.

This really falls under the 'local discretion' catagory - but they normally apply the 'get out of babylon the great' theory to YMCA. Since it's a church backed org, most JWs and elders will take issue to joining it. They will pull out WT's that say words to the effect that joining another religious group qutomatically dis-associates a person. If other JWs find out, they could be 'counseled' to drop so as to not 'stumble' weaker JWs. Doubtful they would do more than 'suggest' they quit, but you never know. Elders can so anything they want to really, and if they get a bug up their @ss they can make a big issue out of it.

Printing to be moved out of Brooklyn Bethel
by cyberguy intoday, a friend of mine told me that a letter was read at his last service meeting, that brooklyn bethel was moving all printing operations to watchtower farms (if that's what they sill call it).
has anyone else heard about this?
i suspect that this move might be a way to downsize brooklyn bethel, perhaps with the idea that they can start selling much of their large, high-value estates in brooklyn, to compensate for their decreasing donations.

Gonna be tough on all those poor bethal dudes not being in the city. Think there's mass transit to get you to the meetings/FS at the farm/patterson? Might have to have a special donation drive to buy buses/cars for all the bethal boys. Hopefully there'''s a package store close by so they can continue to walk out for their daily booze fix. And then think of all the fun they'll miss. Last I checked there was little nightlife around Walkhill/Patterson. Though maybe that will change as they move out there :)
One thing for sure, dumping Brooklyn as headquarters will sure remove them farther from public eyes. More retreating in the face of their enemies!

Believers, why does God need your flattery?
by IronGland inwhy would an all knowing master of space and time feel the irrepressible need to be adored by mere insects (relatively speaking), and indeed punish them in the most absolute of terms if they fail in this task?
indeed it makes god seem very human, although rather immaturely so.
we expect such behavior from schoolyard bullies, megalomaniac dictators and small children who demand adoration from their beaten dogs.

Christians trust God, even though we do not always fully understand all that He does. ..... .... (Note the very WT like elipse to cut out irrealivent quotes ) But our lack of understanding does not prove that God's actions in this regard are either unloving or unjust.
I have a dog. I beat it sensless everyday. Sometimes twice a day. Sometimes I feed it regular food. Sometimes no food. Sometimes I let it smell the food, then take it away. Sometimes I just go away for years and let it alone. But I love that dog. He just doesn't understand me!
Disclaimer: BTW for the peta people out there the above is what is commonly known as a metaphor!!! In other words it is not true - I don't even own a dog.

Church faces $100 Million in Suits
by Amazing inthe resignation of cardinal law of the boston archdiocese has raised the issue of how the 500+ victims will be compensated financially.
the figure of $100 million was stated in the news, and this means either a large liability insurance payout, or bankruptcy for the archdiocese.
this is just """one""" diocese in the united states.

As one who is fairly close to one town's pending action against the Catholic church - I find it amazing how much damming evidence they left behind. I do not see the same being true w/ the JWs who have made a huge effort for years to ensure NOTHING is on paper. I could be entirely wrong though. I am not close to the pending action against the JWs (yet).

Nicer Than God
by Yizuman inthis is from the bob enyart website...he explains pretty clearly why some people are turned off to christianity, even by secular christians.
some folks here believe they are much nicer than god and think god is (or thinks sometimes is) wrong and questions his motives.. http://www.enyart.com/features/writings/nicer.shtml.
comments?.

What's that common definition of insanity again?
No kidding six! And to the original question above, the answer is YES, I am a much much better/nicer person than god. Last I checked I didn't mistreat/ignore people/animals whom I was responsible for caring for. Nor do I demand they worship me or die.

Circuit Visit / Christmas campaign
by caspian insorry that i haven't posted for a while, been moving house and congregation over the last few weeks.. just thought that i will mention, the comments made by our co at the elders meeting on the friday of his visit.. with the elders starting the visits on the inactive in jan and feb, it was suggested by the society to start a week or so earlier to see how many have inactive ones have christmas decorations and so-on.. it was also suggested that if such ones are celebrating a pagan festival, it could be classed as false worship.
which is classified as a "self-disassociation offence" and hence an announcement could be made to the congregation.. my question is this, is it just our co taking things in to his own hands or is this now national or international policy.
kind regards.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the US would impliment a similar law to open up the books here?
Of course, should that happen, 'new light' and 'simplification' would lead the 'brothers' to realize that Jehuber wanted their headquarters moved to some off-shore tax shelter country.
