@ Wozza - They couldnt have said that, cause the GB doesnt curse. Cause cursing is bad, and bad words are scary. -

Child Discipline, new article to address Jackson's Royal Commission testimony
by jwfacts ini have published a new article at watchtower corporal punishment, as a response to the testimony that geoff jackson gave at the royal commission.
it includes the relevant part of the transcript, along with a string of watchtower quotes to show that what he presented was not accurate, and that watchtower translates rod as a literal implement to hit children with.

Thanks for that. Your time and effort, will hopefully prevent further children from being abused. -

@ Leveltheplayingfield - I just wanted to ask you to be completely sure, so the CO, told you personally, about the construction stopping? Also, did he confirm that it is all over the world, and that its everywhere, except Warwick? Also, did he mention, specifically, about Kingdom Hall construction stopping, or was it "other" construction? Lastly, did you get the impression, or did he outright say, that this info would be put out there, like on JW.ORG, or a letter, or announcments, whatever?
Lol, sorry to, jump down your thoat with these questions, i am just really wanting to know whats up. I think specifically hearing it from a CO, is big news and confirmation.
Thanks in advance for answering and confirming what he said.

Hey you! Murderers you!
by umbertoecho inhello, people, fellow freaks, thinkers, out-raged ones.
this is about my lovely wonderful brain dead jw sister and her equally piss weak jw husband and how they treat their own son.
my nephew!!.

I know first hand, that a lot of JW youths, when DF'd or "out", sometimes find comfort in pills, and alcohol. We know this is a false hope, though. I have lost a few friends to this scourge. Try to help him, the best you can, sounds like he needs it. Recovery is VERY possible. Options like Methadone, suboxone, detoxing, counceling, they are out there.
Its spine chilling, how unloving his own parents are towards him, and literally watching him die. Once a person succumbs ultimately, to this disease, thru death, you CANNOT turn back time. Please remember this, you only have the chance to save him, while he is alive, and only then. His parents may feel they can "replace" him, but YOU can never replace your nephew. One day, you two will be raised up high together, into a place of worthiness. Your sister, and dick-in-law, may very well be replaced themselves, in their OWN GODS eyes.
I really wish, and probably looking back you do too, that you called the authorities on your Bro- in -law, all those years ago for child abuse on a 2 year old. Thats what should have been done, but you cant go back in time. However, you DO have this time NOW, and armed with the knowledge you have about your nephew, please take advantage of this time. You dont want to wish you could go back. Now you have the chance to help.
I wish you and your nephew the best. You have my love, and support, for whatever thats worth. You seem like a person after my own heart, telling it like it is, and not putting up with bullshit. Dont put up with the bullshit, that the drugs are doing to your nephew. Now is not the time to worry about his asshole JW parents, but instead to worry about him.
Arm yourself with sword and shield, and go slay the dragon that is attacking him. The dragon is sly, and cunning. It is evil, and malicious, and the epitome of fear. You must be wise, and fierce, strong, and determined. Good luck to you, and Godspeed.

Were the elders informed about the construction shutdown?
by LevelThePlayingField inanybody know?
-
Dunedain
No, there was no official letter, or info given to the Elders. However, there is word coming out and a bit of a "buzz", so to speak.
My father was asking me about the info on, specifically, the stopping of construction, and lay offs. If there was a letter, or where i got that info.
Is there any letter out there, concerning the construction stoppages, and lay-offs? I am asking anybody to PLEASE, can you put a link to the letter, or letters, that has this info. If i can show my father a copy of it, it will be big news and go far in reaching a lot of JW's.
So, please, if anyone has the thread, or link to the info about the layoffs, and construction halting, can you please put it here, thank you so much.

Dude, you shouldnt make stuff up like this. Some people may not know you are joking, and that the pics are photoshopped and stuff. People are REALLY, on edge and wondering whats up, and this kinda stuff can get misconstrued.
I know you meant well, and it IS pretty funny, though, lol.

JWs and Education
by cognac inmy parents were always of the belief that, "the end is right around the corner".. i was a zealous kid, with a learning disorder, so my parents never gave me a hard time or pushed me in regards to my education.. this not only hurt me, but, pissed me off insanely.

I have a 7 year old daughter, myself, and its commendable that you are taking such a huge interest in her well being and education. My wife and i, always stay on top of her work, homework, preparing for tests, and current curriculum. On face value, it does, maybe?, seem like you may be doing a bit much, since she is only 6 and in first grade. However, if your daughter is enjoying the extra work, and is not showing any signs of it being too much, or buning out, then it should be fine. At 6 years old, and in first grade, the work is still basic, but it is the foundation for the next few years to come.
You want to make sure, she knows her alphabet, and numbers. She should be aware of certain "memory" words, that make her able to read on a first grade level. Words like, THE, AND, CAT, RUN, and such. Certain repetition is the key. The basics of math, like plus and minus. Really just simple things like this, for her age group. We sometimes expect them to understand more, or be able to grasp full sentences, and problems, but we must make sure that we are not expecting too much of them, at this age, either.
I would, definately, talk to her teacher, and pick the teachers brain. See what the teacher says about her progress, abilities, and in comparison with her fellow students, where she is. You may find that she may be doing perfectly fine with where she is supposed to be in her work. Every child learns at different levels, and paces. Try not to compare them to other siblings, at that age, or even ourselves, at that age. Really, keeping an open relationship with her teacher, is key. See what the teacher says, thats the first and best place to start. Also, keep her teacher on the same page, of what you are doing. Tell the teacher all about the extra tutoring, and sessions, and the specific work you are doing. See what the teacher thinks about it, and or recommends too.
Hope this helps, and remember, at 6 years old, we can only expect so much from them. All things will become clearer, and work out in time.

This morning's magazine trolley encounter..
by GodZoo inwas just out shopping and came across two middle aged female witnesses with their magazine trolley..
i approached them and they were all glee and smiles and ready to hand me a couple of magazines.
one moment ladies i have just a couple of questions..
-
Dunedain
Godzoo, well done, and all you did, was simply ask a few questions, and make a few statements. Which, btw, they never answered.
Maybe there should be a thread started, about all the exact points you brought up, but for ALL OF US, to ask the trolley cart witnesses.
What if we were to organize, all of us here that have trolley carts in their area, to simply go up to the Bros or Sis's and ask these questions? There are board members here from all over the world. If we organized to do this, say within a 4 week time period, i guarantee THOUSANDS would here it. I can also guarantee that "word" would get back to the "higher ups", and it would SCARE THE CRAP outta them, and by it being all over the world, it would really scare them. Especially NOW, when they are at a critical time.
In the past we really couldnt reach these people and give OUR message of the TTATT. NOW, with them doing the cart witnessing, WE CAN reach them. They are just standing there, waiting to be spoken too. If we made a thread here to organize a concerted, 4 week effort, to do this, when word got back to the GB, they would see the error in their ways.

My Mother Died Two Weeks Ago
by Perry innone of my jehovah's witness relatives called to tell me or my family.
just found out this morning.
-
Dunedain
Perry, i am sorry for your loss, and the further unloving nature of how you found out.
This is a truly despicable act, cowardly, and the epitome of HATE, not love.
These JW's could have, at a minimum, simply let you know via a quick phone call, or even a rushed letter thru the mail. Even an impersonal text, could have been given.
Why wouldnt they have even thought about it as a chance to "witness" to you. Maybe, the loss of your Mother could have, in their eyes, made you think about the "truth" again. But NO, the act of shunning/hating, hurting, outweighs, the act of showing love, in their warped perceptions.
It was mentioned in other posts, but we as a community, should put these actions more in the public eye. Let it be known, what their hearts are, and what unlove they show to humans.
You were wronged on many levels, the first of them being a human level, and i am so sorry that you had to go thru this.
