I too am no longer comfortable with the classification of "Christian". Not considering all of the blood that the Christian religion has on its hand, which is considerable, I have come to the conclusion that most of what it teaches doesn't have much to do with what Jesus taught. I not only believe that we were created in perfection but remain that way still. Perhaps the hindus have it right. All of this seems to be "maya" or illusion. In recent years, I have become comfortable with the teachings outlined in "A Course in Miracles". That teaching seems to cut through all of the "bullshit" put out by organized religion. According to that teaching no one is going to be lost. How long we choose to "slop hogs" in a foreign land (earth) is up to us and the choices we make.

Why I will never be a Christian.....
by outbutnotdown ini have read a lot of books about spirituality, religion and self-awareness.
the one major problem i have with christianity (and despite the fact that people may suggest that i am just turned off by being raised as a jw.... i think that my point would be valid without having experienced that negative start to life).. the one common premise of christianity is that we are sinners at birth and that we need salvation, otherwise we are disrespecting god.
i have also read other books that use the premise at the exact opposite end of the spectrum...... namely that we are perfect at birth and that we, through choice, use prejudisms and negative thought patterns that end up making this "sinner" theory more believable.. i'm not suggesting that either of these theories is absolutley correct, but i choose to lean more towards the "perfect at birth" theory.

If you wan't some of your questions answered you should see the movie "What the #?&* (bleep) Do We know?" which is playing at some of the art houses in Dallas right now. It is mostly about quantum physics and the impact of thought on the body. Holds out the possiblity that God didn't make any of this, and that we did it to ourselves. That could explain why it is so #*&%(bleeped) up. Anyway, it is an awesome movie and well worth the price of admission. I took Megadude to see it last night and he was really impressed. I would also recommend the book "Disappearance of the Universe" by Gary Renard. He claims we're not really here. We are just dreaming that we are.

Glad it worked out for you and yours. Keep your cool and watch your back. I understand that you can't come within a 100 yds. of them. What happens if they come within 100 yds. of you?

SHOW DOWN TODAY
by Corvin intoday, i am taking the girls to meet with the court appointed attorney.
he will interview the girls and me together, then he will interview sara and the girls together.
it is his recommendation to the judge that will decide the outcome of this custody battle.

Good luck to you and yours! I sincerely hope that all of this works out the way you want it to. I hope the court appointed attorney will take the time to get familiar with all the aspects of your situation. At the risk of incurring your wrath again, I will suggest that you have a "operations plan" if things don't go completely in your favor. Judges sometimes do strange things and the court system can be far from just sometimes. Outcomes can sometimes be influenced by relationships between the judges and the attorneys involved. Judges sometimes get very upset if you display obvious anger in their presence and some won't hesitate to let you know that they are in control. Try not to make them uncomfortable. Expect the best, but prepare for the worst. I'm confident that everyone on this board will be praying for a favorable outcome for you and your children.

Yes! My wife, a full time pioneer in her late 60's, claims to be of the annointed. I never have been a JW. Since I sleep with her, does that mean I get to survive armegeddon? LOL.

Fearing the Pain
by rockhound inafter the death of her witness father, a dear friend of ours told us her mother, in deep depression, said "this wasn't supposed to happen.the new system should have come by now" .
depression is not unique to this heart broken sister.
a witness in our old hall was out in service one day with four pioneer sisters.

Great post Rockhound!
Lying Eyes-You are so right! Most of our physical problems come from self generated stress. Letting it go is a prerequisite to healing.

While a part of me rejoices that you are shaking the complacency of the JWs, I must tell you that what you are doing will be ultimately unsatisfactory to you personally. There is a line in A Course in Miracles that goes "that which you defend against you make real to your own mind." The only way out is to forgive them. Not the kind of forgiveness that the JWs teach, the overlooking of an imagined wrong, but the kind that realizes that the perfect child of God that you are is untouched by anything that has occured on this plane of existence. Jesus warned us not to judge others "lest we be judged". The reason is that we humans tend to project our own unconscious guilt onto others. How can we recognize the flaws in others unless those same flaws exist within ourselves? I understand that we have to live in "this world" and you should do whatever it takes to protect your loved ones from harm on this level. But don't let it get to you personally. Keep your cool! The JWs have chosen to put on blinders about what is going on in their organization. My father used to say "Don't expend effort trying to teach a pig to sing". "It wastes your time and annoys the pig". It is all a movie script anyway in which we have chosen to play the leading parts. It is a trick of our ego selves to convince us that we are mere bodies and distract us from remembering our true home in heaven. You can't be at peace while you are carrying on this battle. Remember the words of Jesus as he was hanging on the cross, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do".

CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH??
by Terry inthe truth!
is there a greater value anywhere?
knowing what's what and what's not may be the most important thing humans can know.

Good Post Terry! Excellent writing. The real truth is that none of us want to handle the "real truth". That is that none of this is real. As the Hindus say, it is all "maya". If we let a cult do our thinking for us it means that we don't have to face the truth. At least during this incarnation. Trouble is that the lessons we don't learn get presented to us over and over again. Pesky fellow that Holy Spirit!

Intelligence and education are not the same thing. I do have B.S. degrees in both Business Administration and Civil Engineering and a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. I have learned that learning is a life long process and that credentials (degrees) are of limited value. However, they have gotten me some great jobs in the Civil Engineering field.

How about the power of thought? Have you ever been thinking of someone and then they call you a short time later and say "I was just thinking about you". Sometimes you know that you are being watched. According to A Course In Miracles, the entire universe is a projection of our own unconsious minds, a vast illusion in which the characters in our life are no more real than the images on a movie screen. In that scenario, we are not really here, but only dreaming that we are here. That teaching says that we have never left our home in heaven.
