TheOneBuck,
I am working on a post that will back-up what I said. I was on my way out the door to work this morning and that was all I had time to say.
I DID back that up with a link to a website so that people could do their OWN research, but it appears that NO ONE has even bothered to read the information that is available from that website!
So that is what I have been doing since I returned home from work.
I will post this information when it is ready.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE TERRI SCHIAVO CASE?
by Mary inthere is apparently no chance at all of her ever recovering from her present state, but do you think she should live or die?
for myself, i think she's better off dead than living---no, existing---in her present state.
i for one, have instructed my family to let me die if something like this ever happened to me.

Michael Schiavo wants Terri dead because he wants to destroy the evidence that he was a wife-abuser. The parents want to prove this, but he will not allow that to happen. Evidence may show that Terri was strangled and THAT is why she is in this condition right now.
Read the history on her battle to live here:
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=43383
In my opinion, the Michael Schiavo case is just another one like the Scott Peterson case. Michael needs to be put on trial for what he has done to Terri. This case is NOT about right-to-die as Michael has tried to make it out to be!

Have any of you examined early christian history and found many problems?
by booker-t injust for a moment imagine that you are talking to a person and he mentions to you that you have to baptize animals in order to be saved or that you have to believe in the trinity doctrine that is composed of god the father, god the son and god the mother(mary) would you believe that these were some of the things early christians believed in.
would you be shocked to know that many dates were set for jesus to rapture up the christians in the sky and nothing materalized?
many born-again christians argue you down tooth and nail stating that born-again christianity does not have skelatons in their closets like the mormons and jw's but the truth of the matter born-again christianity has many, many embarassing skelatons.

"The list goes on and on but when you mention this to a pastor or minister they insist that they are not false prophets and that born-agains have made mistakes in date-suggesting. I ask them what is the difference when JW's or Mormons do the same thing?"--booker-t
The BIG difference you are not seeing in your comparision, is that Born-Agains do not have an ORGANIZATION of central authority that dictates their doctrines. There are MANY Baptists - Southern Baptists, Northern Baptists, Conservative Baptists, General Conference Baptists - and the list goes on. Add to the above - The United Methodists, The Westlyian Methodists, the Lutherans have as many different sub-branches as the Baptists, then add in the various pentecostal demonations and INDEPENENT churches to the mix. What you have is ALL of the above mentioned believe in the Born-Again experience, yet differ widely in their other beliefs and practices. To lump them all together as if they were ONE BIG entity is a grave mistake. In fact, each PERSON who chooses to worship with any of the above, is ONLY held accountable before GOD for their OWN individual actions, not the group as a whole. That is why no Born-Again will care much about the so-called historical skeletions that can be found 'in the closets' of history.
Each individual born-again believer is free to read the Scriptures for himself and apply whatever meaning they feel is right to any portion of that scripture. Yes, there are printed guidelines (Commentaries) that they use, but no ORGANIZATION is going to DF them id they disagree with said Commentaries. -

I'm so sorry for the pain that you are feeling.
The key here is to break through the WT programming. Try to get her to THINK out of the 'box' by turning her statements about the FDS into questions. Ask HER to prove to you by using the Bible alone everything that she says. Use the WT's own arguments to get her thinking. Example:
WT says the 'word Trinity' is not in the Bible. OK, chalenge HER to find the words "God's ORGANIZATION" in the Bible. Use the same logic as they use for the word Trinity not being in the Bible.
There are many other such 'jw-isms' that could be used, but try to consentraite on WT Authority issues with the claim that they alone are the FDS 'CLASS'. Ask about how the WT 'interprets' this parable to mean THEMSELVES.
Another example:
"getting reinstated" - use the parable of the 'prodical son' - ask her why HE didn't have to sit in the back of the KH for 6+ months before he was restored to fellowship with his family. He was 'reinstated' instanly!
There are many other examples that I'm sure you can come up with.
Take care and don't give up on her. WT programming CAN be broken!

a question
by bonnzo ini'm a jw still, and i'm new on this forum.
here's my question: if the faithful and discreet slave is a messenger for truth why is the only mention of them in the bible in the form of a parable?
why only one time(in two parallel accounts)?

Hi bonnzo and welcome to JWD!
Here is a very long thread that might interest you:

"a friend in need" (AFIN) is a JW and refused to answer OldSoul's question about the FDS so "shadow" who is an elder. picked up the discussion and concluded that the FDS doctrine could NOT be supported by Scripture alone. You may enjoy reading the entire thread.

New World Order - Illuminati vs. WT Society
by lucky inbefore i start, i just want to say that this is not any sort of conspiracy-type thread and i don't believe russell was a member of the illuminati.. i just finished reading dan brown's angels&demons, before which i hadn't even heard of the illuminati.
it struck me as curious that the "new world order" as described in the book had some similarities with the society's teachings regarding events in revelation (including the name itself).
in particular, i found it interesting that the illuminati were/are seeking to destroy religion and establish a worldwide government.

I did a search on Google and what I found may be of interest to some. I have read the entire 2 web pages that the links go to, however, my posting them here on the forum does not mean that I agree or disagree with them. So please don't go into 'attack' mode against ME if you do not agree with them. I merely thought that they were "interesting". The articles are quite long so I have only quoted below random portions from the articles.
FRITZ SPRINGMEIER ? ANOTHER HUMAN TRAGEDY
by John S. Torell
"The information coming out concerning Fritz Springmeier indicates that he is either caught up in sinful activities, or he is a counter intelligence agent working to catch victims coming out, and then either discourage them to the degree that they lose hope and return to their handlers, or they commit suicide."
"WHO IS FRITZ SPRINGMEIER"
"A prolific writer, Springmeier has published several books, most notably, Be Wise As Serpents, The Watchtower and the Masons, The Top 13 Illuminati Bloodlines, The Illuminati Formula Used to Create an Undetectable Total Mind Controlled Slave and Deeper Insights."
"Springmeier became interested in the Jehovah?s Witnesses, even though he supposedly became a Christian during his ?teen years. While attending Kingdom Hall, he met a woman who he eventually married and had a child together. This marriage did not last long, as his wife filed for divorce on the grounds of child abuse ? a charge that was never proven."
"As a result of all the turmoil within the Springmeier family, their youngest son was experiencing severe emotional problems. Fritz? wife took him to a therapist for an evaluation. The therapist felt the youngster may have been traumatized through sexual abuse. Another counselor also evaluated the psychological report and drew the same conclusion."
