Seperating the wt beliefs and beliefs iin god are difficult. I believed in god while I was a witness. I am no longer a witness and I don't have the energy to believe in god any longer.

I think I am an Atheist (current JW)
by Robert7 ini am writing this group to discuss a topic that as you can imagine i really cannot discuss with too many people, at least as of now.
i am a married male jw, married to a another jw, and she's content with being a witness, and in fact, i don't want to change that if she's happy.. for a very brief history, i was baptized at 19, and have been a jw for 10 years.
fact is, i 'believed' in everything in as much as a lot of it 'made sense' and i was wrapped up in the whole thing.

I was an elder for 3 years. I was no hard-liner no was I what you would call a bible scholar. But I think I was liked by the r&f. I had a goal of shaking hands and saying hello to everyone at every meeting.
While I did this most of the other elders were always huddled in the corner of the hall having one of those "official" conversations in a low voice. I avoided those at all costs.

So, I ran into an Elder at supper the other night........
by WingCommander in**note: i was never baptized, only raised as a jw from birth.
i am therefor not df'd, da'd, or marked.
probably viewed as inactive though.***.

It is interesting that only the elder spoke to you. Elders are able to talk to df and others that the r&f are not allowed to. But the elder cannot talk about weather or something friendly, only something classified as "official business." Which, it sounds like it was more business than friendship.

2008 and still no Armagedon!!! I feel like I made an "Ass of myself"
by Witness 007 inyes sitting in pizza hut in 1991 a small band of pioneer brothers {me and friend's} debated when armagedon would come.
due to the "generations" doctrine, we calculated 2001 at the latest...then the doctrine was dropped!!!
recently the last world war 1 vetran died in australia.

I remember well those discussions speculating about when Armagedon is coming. There was a basis for speculation when the "generation" light was shinning. But now, there are no reference points that make any meaningless conversation about dates meaningful... er or something

Getting married too young
by freedomfighter inhave noticed an inevitable trend in australia.

As a good witness teenager wanting to have sex, I made the right spiritual decision and got married at the age of 19. I do not believe I was shaving at the time.
At the time it seemed like a good decision, we barely knew each other, but we were so close to the GT and Armageddon, that it really didn't matter. The year was 1976 and I knew that if we were not perfect for each other then, in the new order we would attain perfection and everyting would be alright.
We probably would still be together if it wasn't for those "crazy apostates" getting into my head and messing things up. At least that is her take on the whole messy divorce.

Think about what takes place in a quck build. Walpaper is put on walls where the plaster does not have sufficient time to dry. The moisture trapped in that is a conduit to mold. The halls are dark most of the day because they are empty and there are no windows. The air is either turned off or at a setting where there is limited circulation.
I have entered halls with a pretty funky smell and that smell never goes away.

The demons in Paris and NYC - More sophisticated than the ones in Timbuktu?
by nvrgnbk inremember the jw concept ( maybe it's a bible concept too) that different regions and nations are ruled by specific demons?.
i always thought that was funny.. like, are the demons in very superstitious regions "extroverted" and cantankerous, while the ones that promote materialism and atheism are more "subtle", sophisticated even?
which region does satan hang out in?.

I recently moved (back) to NYC. In addition, during one difficult conversation with my ex spouse she said that I had "demons flying through my head."
So, do I now have the sophisticated demons, or did the unsophisticated demons travel up with me from Florida (a.k.a. Timbuktu)?
