  What kind of changes would you make if you were the President of the WTS.

  i'm just curious, if you could imagine taking control over the jws.

  as an acting president, what specific changes would you make to .

  the organization to make it more approachable, livable and attainable for the general population ?.

  If I was president, the assumption would be that I was placed in that position to perpetuate the religion. In other words - protect assets and keep the cash flow positive.

  The strategy would be to move the religion to a more mainstream state while maintaining some the unique features of the religion. I would get rid of the blood doctrine and disfellowshipping while maintaining some unique forms of the preaching activity.

  If done right the religion would appeal to those quarky individuals who will continue to add to the uniquiness (and wealth) to the group.

  607 to 1914 calculation question

  is there any culture that actually used years of 360 days length?

  if so, surely there would still be some kind of leap year to correct the calendar, why is that not taken into account?

  i'd never thought about it when i was a dub because you're not supposed to think!

  Is there any culture that actually used years of 360 days length?

  Accountants use 360 days for some calculations (i.e. days sales outstanding). I could never quite figure out why. Except that it makes the calculation easier and you can assume five holidays that no business generally takes place. Although, it is a streach to equate accountants with a "culture."

  Do you think that the 'Convention' tract work will seem silly to most?

  in this territory it will mean 'inviting' people to a religious convention about 200 miles away, about a religion that most already do not care about.

  i believe this could be a 'tactical error' on the part of the gb, who seem mostly interesting in keeping the urgency level on high with this.

  but as far as future converts are concerned, won't most people who were riding the fence as to classifying this group as a cult, go ahead and jump down on the affirmative side of the fence with this stupidity?

  GB MEMBER Herd Says Just Because You're A JW It Doesn't Mean Anything!

  there's a tape circulating around the witnesses stating that when the separation of the sheep and goats happens, witnesses shouldn't think that they will automatically be saved just because they're witnesses.

  if they aren't wholesouled, then they should not expect that having one foot in the "truth" and the other in the world will let them make it through the great tribulation....herd was trying to motivate the troops!

  In the mid 90s there was the "new light" regarding the separating of the sheep and goats. The new light has something to do with the separating work not occurring until after the GT.

  A bethelite made a comment at the WT in the form of an illustration. A zealous elder/C.O./pioneer makes it through the GT only to be judged unworthy to enter the new order. The reason is that his heart was not towards god. He only did those things to gain the favor of his fellow christians and not out of a motivation to please god. Thus god kills him. end of story.

  I was on my way out at the time. To me the illustration was depressing and disscusting. I don't think anyone else was paying attention.

  Has anyone had to miss school for an assembly?

  usually, the district assemblies start past the middle of june, but i have heard a number of people that have had them start already.

  granted, that is in the south where school usually lets out in may and starts in august.

  on the flip side, some southern assemblies might be running in late august and school already in session.. i have seen a district assembly that ran june 16-18. and school didn't let out that year until june 23. this is the week when final exams are commonly given in school, and any children that missed them for the a$$embly got a zero on the biggest test of the year and likely flunked or did poorly as a result.

  Our assembly was always in july or August. Thus, never did have to miss school. I once went with my father to an international convention on one of the society's tours to austrailia and missed three weeks of school. That may have been worth the time missed.

  i found out about this a couple years ago.

  it was one of those shockers, that is just hard to accept when you hear about it, when you're not in the "truth".. i posed the question, "why can't they just have a daycare system setup.

  seems that would be a standard setup", but one witness from bethel told me "cause it's not the responsibility of the organization to raise our kids".

  There is a Dr there, Walter ???. I forget his last name. He is at one of the apartments with his wife and daughter. This all may have changed, His apartment is one of the buildings up for sale.

  Cant get nobody to give the sunday talk

  i was just talking to a friend of mine who is the talk coordinator at his hall.

  he was telling me that he cant get brothers to come and give talks at his hall.

  i remember when i was giving talks that was all the rage.

  I used to be the elder that coordinated talks. This was back in the mid 90s. We had several elders that wanted to schedule them at least once per month, and a few that complained if I scheduled too often.

  I sort of enjoyed giving talks out of town. I had a few outlines that were similar enought that I basically gave the same talk everywhere I went. It didn't matter what was assigned. I still have the outlines, If you want to assign me, I am more than happy to visit your congergation.

  Peace and Security Prophecy Amendment

  in my zealous pioneering days i used to preach about the declaration of "peace and security".

  as i have not been going for some time, what is the "latest truth" on this prophecy?.

  This is one of those things that the wt wanted it both ways.

  If there were problems the cry for peace and security was a cry why there was no peace.

  If there was relative peace the cry for peace and security means that people are crying out "we have peace and security!"

  It is just another meaningless phrase.
