I would only cross that bridge when I came to it. No sooner.

Do You Recognize Your Baptism?
by sweetstuff ini was promised that this generation would no means pass away.
(live forever book, pg.
154) i brought this up, although it has probably been discussed before, because i am sure some people right now are worrying how to handle an elder's visit or call.

I was baptized October 1971 when I was 15 years old. I was told that I would not graduate highschool and that we were within months of god's new order. I believed everything I was told
I am now 50, divorced, agnostic and don't believe anything anyone says. I am bitter for losing the prime years of my life to the wt cult. If I did recognize myself from 35 years ago I would slap myself silly to hopefully knock some sense into my blank slate of a head.

Anyone else setting up the Christmas tree or thinking of it already?
by WTWizard inbeing that i like the looks of the christmas lights and that i have had 20 years of not being able to set them up, i have already taken the step of setting up the christmas tree.
on it are huge amounts of lights--12 sets of c6 led bulbs (they come 60 to a set) plus a set of 70 miniature leds for the top region.
i ran out of c6 bulbs about halfway up the tree (not to worry, i have the other 6 sets on order and they should be arriving today).. there are some things to think about when setting up a holiday tree out of "season".

This will be the first year with a christmas tree. I am a non-practicing agnostic and place no religious significance on christman, but I want to have one because I am 50 years old and never had a christmas tree.

Why Do People Have Children?
by hillary_step ini ask this with serious intent.. evolutionary imperative?
selfishness?
boredom?

I am a believer of making replacement people. So, a man should have two kids with wife number one, and one kid with each subsequent wife.

Easy Field Service time, oh yeah baby!
by monophonic ini hope these images work below.. i was at the laundermat, watching this lady do her "street witnessing".
these photos were actually the most attentive she was b/c she was wondering what the hell i was doing taking photos of her.. for the hour i watched her, she talked to nobody.
when i walked by earlier i made eye contact and smiled and she avoided my eyes.

The easiest fs ever is not doing anything and writing 12 in the appropirate box of the monthly field service report.
I am sure there are more than a few that do that. I was not quite that bold, but towards the end I was very close.

do not understand "slow" fade, "controlled" fade, why not just stop quickly
by oompa inonthewayout has a current thread about a slow fade, and i have read many others that are similar.
i do not understand how fading slowly vs. fading very quickly has any different consequences.
and i mean whether an elder or pioneer or not.

I did the slow fade.
In retrospect, I should of had the courage to just stop and let the chips fall where they may. The slow fade did not really help me with anything, the only thing it did was to take 10 years off my life.

If Your Spouse Told The Elders On U, Is That a Marital or Religious Problem
by minimus inif a faithful devout jw saw her husband on a board like this or reading "apostate" literature, if she was so disturbed by her husband's actions and the husband justified himself, would you think that if she told the elders because she was truly concerned that her mate was going to leave "the truth" and ultimately not make it into the "new system", --------that this was simply a marital issue-----not a religious one?.
your opinions please..

I am not sure if it is a religious problem, but is is sure a marital problem.
My wife and I were struggling for a long time about my decision to leave the "truth." She never let up on her tirade about how bad I was for leaving jehovah (you havent lived until you hear that tirade while attempting to have sex). She absolutely equated watchtower=jehovah.
My last straw was when she sent the elders to me so that I could reform. This was after I quite going to meetings and made it absloutely clear that I was through with the wt. That meeting was unwelcome and was the most stressful day of my life. If I had a gun I would have shot the elder and then myself. I was absolutely at the end of my patience with my wife and my existence.
Three years later and I am within a week of finalizing my divorce. Until that point of meeting the elders, I tried and tried to make the marriage work. After that point in time I decided to get on with my life. It has been very painful and VERY expensive (worth every penny). But it is over and I have the the rest of my life to live.

What percentage of Witnesses are DFed at some point in their JW existence?
by slimboyfat in.
and, say, you don't think i could get disfellowshipped just for making a couple of posts on this site.
slim.

This is an interesting statistic. If you are talking about the percentage of active witnesses disfellowshipped, my guess it would be very low. There is a low probability that a disfellowshipped person rejoins the congregation.
If you are talking about the percentage of active and non active disfellowshipped, my guess is that the percentage is close to 30-40%. There is a very high attrition of witnesses. The backdoor is more active than the front door.

Does anybody think the WBTS will ever 'ban' the internet?
by lfcviking inlets face it the wbts have an ever increasing fear & paranoia of x-jw websites like this forum where the wbts is exposed for all its dodgy business and people can find out things about the goings on with its members, its leaders & embarassing history of cock ups.
one day in a desperate attempt to put a tighter control on this they might make it an official 'ungodly act' to go online and put it in the same category as a 'secret sin' such as smoking or watching porn films.. any opinions on this anybody???.

The society has in the past attempted to restrict the use of the computer. This goes back to the early days of the internet. A ban would be meaningless. If the internet is a df offence, what about those people who use the internet for work. The internet is ubiquitious. They can never go back to the old days.
They do officially ban looking at apostate sites. If you don't believe me just go to and elder and tell him you found something interesting about 607 on the internet and see what happens.
