In the 40+ years I was an active Dub I had turkey on all but one or two of those Thanksgivings. One year I did not have turkey because my now ex-wife was on a vegetarian kick and we had tofu turkey. Ugg.

I will be all alone on Thanksgiving. But that is ok. Maybe I will meet up at the local KH and go out in service. I can re-live all my memories of going out in service on the holidays. Thanks for the memories Oompa..

JF Rutherford: Do Ya Think He Liked Attention??? (duh)
by Open mind inwell this week's book study wraps up the seventh trumpet blast of revelation.
there was even a nice neat box showing how they all were "highlighted" by something the dubs did in the 1920's.
almost all the blasts were some dry-as-toast, "look at me" speech given by jf rutherford at various conventions.

I see it that way now. I remember having the same (duh) moment sitting at a bookstudy at the beginning of my long fade.
While so obvious now, it embarrasses me to think that I actually accepted that dribbling crap for too many years.

Did you mind if a JW worked where you worked ?
by JH inif you had the choice, when you were an active good jw, would you have prefered to work with a jw in your work place or not to have any around ?.

I was a director in an audit department and had a jw report to me. I never let her know my status. She was very smart and a hard worker. Her family came to the US from Cameroon. Evidently, she did not get the word on education because she was studying for the CPA. I believe she eventually passed all parts.
Last memorial, she gave me an invitation. I did not say anything other than thanking her.

Donations to Go Down?
by metatron init's utterly amazing that the society has bamboozled publishers into thinking that all of its cutbacks.
are somehow not related to a lack of donations.. perhaps this will be tested in the next few years as gasoline, food, and other essentials go way.
up in price while wages stay stagnant.

Taiwan has this fermented tofu called "stinky tofu."
It really stinks and in my opinion, offensive.

Growing a Beard.
by Priest73 inso, why is it that we (xy chromosomes) feel obligated to grow beards once we leave the org?
i've had a little 'chin' beard for about the last 8 years, but every year in november i try to grow the whole thing out... but inevitably i fail miserably.
maybe my facial follicles are still jws.

I tried to grow a beard several times. But when I get to the point where the beard has not filled in and I look like a homeless person, I shave it off.
I have been told that I have too big a head for a beard. The beard just makes my head look even bigger.

convention
by Sasha inmet me jw neighbor last night walking her dog...i sais "still going to the hall?
"...and she said "oh, sure, just went to a convention today.
it was so boring"!!!!!!!
-

If she admitted it was "so boring" that is a good start. With out knowing my guess is the assembly was about the following:
Do more service and place more magazines
Attend all meetings
College is bad
Internet is bad
and finially,
We are very very close to the end.

Have You Divorced And/Or Remarried- What Did You Learn From It ?
by flipper inin seeing a lot of posters threads , i feel i see many people who have been divorced at one time , and either have remarried or have stayed single .
i totally understand those who choose to stay single, as i was single for 6 years before i got married again !
as experts say, next to death it's one of the hardest experiences you'll go through !

I was a good witness and married at 19. At 50, I am now 3-months divorced. I must say that I am still learning from the experience but here is what I know so far:
Divorce is very very expensive. But for me it was worth every penny. My only regret is that I did not take make the decision 10 years earlier.
I hate lawyers and the legal system.
I like being alone.
I learned to cook and I love it.
My adult children and my brother have been very supportive. I have no contact with witnesses, so I have no idea what the think. My guess is that they either don't care, or think I am the worst person in the world.
