'Give me one reason I shouldn't be a JW.'

what would you say if a close friend was to come to you and say: "i've secretly been studying with jehovah's witnesses and i plan to join their organization.

i know how you feel about the witnesses, but i truly feel that they are god's chosen organization.

i don't really want to hear anything negative about the society, but out of respect for our friendship, i'll let you briefly mention one reason why i shouldn't.

Everyone has given good answers to that question.

As JT said, the WTS does use two sets of scales.
One for them and one for other religions.

If I was asked that question I would have to answer:

Are you really willing to give control of your life to a group of people that keeps changing their mind on what the truth is?

And of course I would have to give an example to what I mean by that.
People have died BECAUSE of the WTSs' changing teachings.

Oh? You ask for an example of that?
The WTS has taught that it was wrong to have an organ transplant.
People have died because they refused to have one.

A few years later, the WTS said it was ok to have an organ transplant.
Now can you imagine if you had a child that needed an organ transplant back then and you refused to let them have one because the WTS said no.
And your child died because of it.

Later on the WTS changes their mind on that teaching.
And now says it's ok to have one.

OOOPS! To late for your child or any other loved one.

This is the kind of proof the WTS has to prove they are Gods chosen orginization?

They have caused NEEDLESS deaths.

No. They have proven themselves to be just like any other religion if not worse.

i confess, i was working on my christmas cards when i broke my foot, and with the baby i just didn't get to send any out this year.

so yes i'm feeling a bit guilty.. soooo perhaps we could start a gift circle?

Can Witnesses Do That?

this week is spring break for school children and so my kids are home this week.

while i was at work yesterday some witnesses paid a visit to my home and tried to talk my 14 year old son into having a bible study.

when my son politely refused, saying that he could not commit to a study without first asking permission of his parents, they told him that they knew many children who had defied their parents to study with the witnesses and come to meetings.

One of the main problems I can see happening with the JWS being sneaky and trying to get kids to study with them without the parents knowledge, is suppose it's a pedephile that's trying to get them to study?

Then what?!?!?

As a parent, it's our responsability to keep our kids safe.

If ANYONE aproaches our kids and tries to get them to do something without our knowledge then it's time to take action to ensure the kids will be safe.

If it means going to the kh and telling the elders to KEEP AWAY then so be it.
If it happens again after that, call the police.

The Right To Die-Freedom of Choice

no control over my bowel and bladder i sit and wait...waiting and praying to die.

i should have the freedom of choice to die with dignity.

It's a touchy subject for people to talk about.

I think it's a personal choice.
It's not like the person is deciding someone elses life.

He/she would be deciding on their own life.

If a person doesn't want to live any longer, how can they really be forced to?
Put them in a mental hospital because they want to stop living?
Put them in jail on a protective custody charge?

There was a movie that came out a few years ago that had this type of theme.
I think it was called Morgans Run.

when so much peopel say jw is a cult,comperd to the most religions we are very diffrent yes.. but if we go back to christ and was he was teching,you must say this was a cult to, he was telling he was the only one, a remark as you say on a cult, he was saying he come from the lord also a remark as you say,he was telling you must obey him also a remark on a cult as you say, he say if you dont se him as the son of the lord you have no life ,also a remark on a cult as you say,and he say he give his follower power from heaven, oups this is a very bigg remark on a cult.. littel confusing isnt is?

No. It's not confusing at all.

Are you comparing the WTS with Jesus Christ?

Jesus had proof of who He is.
He performed miricles.
He fulfilled prophecy.

What proof does the WTS have?
False prophecies.
Changes in their beliefs. Over and over and over again.
Unchristian behavior and attitude.

Now how can you possibly compare the WTS Jesus Christ?

The ones who have compared themselves to Jesus HAVE been a cult.
David Koresh, Jim Jones,ect.

Whats the truth about 1914?

i've heard on a few occasions from my research on the internet that 1914 really does not have the significance that wtbs assigns to it.

from my limited understanding on the matter it involves the wtbs moving the date of the destruction of jerusalem.. can someone give me a little more detail on this or provide a link with a website that does?.

if its true that the wts has manipulated historical dates and bible scriptures to support this date of 1914 then that would mean everything else crumbles.. thanks for any info on this

It falls between 1913 and 1915.

Isn't that what the WTS is ALL about?

They have their set of beliefs. And they keep changing those beliefs.

They enforce total agreement on those beliefs as if they have come down from God or the JW will get disfellowshipped.

And yes, all religions have been unsuccesfull. I don't believe there is the real truth found in any of them.

ALL are run and controlled by imperfect men.

It is said that the Governing Body is made up of imperfect men.
And that is true.
Now we must ask,If they are imperfect and make mistakes, why is it that they enforce agreement with whatever they say as if the sayings have come from God?

Why is it they call the WTBTS Gods chosen orginization if they say they are imperfect so it's ok that they have made mistakes?

An important question needs to be asked here.

Has the WTS ever taught something that cost people their lives and then changed that teaching a few years down the road?

The answer is yes. ie: organ transplants, political teachings, blood teachings,ect.

Even tho we know other religions are also teaching falsehoods,
how many of them DEMAND their followers to obey without question
even tho those same teachings WILL be changed within a few years?

Brother happy man,you do bring up an interesting point but you must look at the picture as a whole.
Meaning just because they have a form of unity, they are still corrupt in many ways.
