i tell you what this is one cool mini series .anyone here claim to be abducted ?they say the show is based on accounts reported by people claiming to be taken .

personally i don't believe in flying saucers and little green men but i love science fiction .any thoughts on this?

I understand what you're saying and yes God will judge.

But, the problem I have is that the Bible has been put thru the grinder, so to speak,
with all the different translations that have come out over the years.

And as far as I know, the Catholic Church is the group that said which Books belong in the Bible and which ones didn't.

Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

How much of a slant on the meaning of scriptures do you think the
Catholic church put forth.

You believe your interpertation is the correct one.

I don't recolect reading what your beliefs are.

Could you state them.

What are you going to do when you get judged before the Lord...

Do you think He is going to judge us on whether or not we followed a certain set of rules?

Do you think He is going to judge us on what religious orginization we belonged to?

We have the Bible.

And from the Bible we have many many different interpertations.

And each and every group has added thier own slant on what the teachings mean.

And each and every group has used the scriptures to enslave thier fellow man.

We have groups that say God will destroy us if we don't get out and sell useless and meaningless magazines.

We have groups that say all we have to do to be saved is believe that Jesus died for our sins.

We have groups that don't know what to believe.

In my opinion, I believe that before the 'end' comes God will make sure that we all have the same understanding on what He is and what He expects from mankind.

I believe how we handle that understanding is how we will be judged.

i was wondering how long an inactive witness can stop going to meetings before the elders can disfellowship the person?

some are saying that the elders will visit inactive ones in jan,feb,march.

is there a strategy up their sleeve?

If they call, tell them you can't talk.

If the come to your home, tell them you can't talk.

If they see you out and about, tell them you can't talk.

They have NO power over anyone that does not give them power over them.

They will do what they will do.

But we don't have to help them do it.

After you got baptized

when my mom was studying, the sisters went out of their way to love on her, and to help her out.

she was a single mom back then.

one of the biggest things they did was babysit for her, while she had to go out and work.

Seems like everyone has the same story.

The JWs are caring and want to help any way they can while you're studying.
But once you take the plunge, you are now part of the group.
They don't have to play at being nice and loving any longer.

It's all part of the sales pitch.

See what we have to offer?
Don't you think it would be good to be amongst people that really care about others?
The Bible says that a true Christian have love amongst themselves.
Can you see the love that is being shown you?
Don't you agree that we must be Gods chosen people because of the love that abounds here?
No other religion has this kind of love so we must be the true religion.

What a sales pitch.

Many of us bought it hook line and sinker.

And once we're baptised?

We no longer see or feel that kind of love because we come to realize that only new comers should be shown such love.

After all, the meetings are for teaching how to sell the orginization.
Aren't they?

A major part in selling the org. is making it look desirable.
And certainly love bombing plays an important part in this.

how about a little friendly competition?

who can offer the best example of perfect irony?

for example, the wt teaches that we should regard the wt mag just as we would the word of god yet they also teach that they never claimed to be infallible and that you should have checked for yourself, all your fault for the mistake.

The WTS constantly changes their teachings because they were found to be wrong and continues to call itself the 'truth' even tho the teachings that are in place now will also be changed.

question: What is truth to the WTS?

answer: Whatever they are presently teaching.

What to do with those who abuse kids??

i'm sitting here in the serverroom freezing my buns off and the issue of the child abuser and what to do with him or her was being kicked around.

we got the standard shot the bastards in the head etc,.

should they get any treatment at all or should they just be shot?.

Then put them in the general population of the prison, and let the inmates take care of the "problem", just like they did with Jeffrey Dahmer"

I think that would be the best punishment.

I was going to say, let the parents of the child decide the proper punishment.

But thinking about this,the JW parents would just do whatever the WTS tells them to do, so that means no punishment from them.

i have my own experience (extremely bad) and was wondering about others.
