Meetings
by OrangeBlossom indo you think the wts will ever reduce the number of meetings per week, maybe drop one night a week?
just curious!
it seems that everyone is so whipped from working all day, i really think that's why there is such a drop in meeting attendance.

I'm getting the impresion from reading these posts that you all are not appreciating
the meetings. I mean they are for our benifit after all. AREN'T THEY?!?
Where else can we be fed such fine spiritual food?!?How else would we have known that those who saw the events taking place in 1914
would be alive to see the new system come?Oh. Wait a minute. That was BAD spiritual food.
How about.................................................................................
I guess I can't think of any fine spiritual food being fed at the meetings.
Never Mind.neyank

God and Israel survey
by Zechariah ini think it would be interesting to know whether or not you believe that the jews recovery of their homeland (israel) in the 20th century had anything to do with god?
qualify your answer if you care to.. zechariah

Hello Zechariah,
That's an interesting question. If God was behind the Jewish people getting their
homeland back, then I would have to assume that God is still going to use them in
His plans.
You realize that the WTS says that the Jews are not Gods chosen people any longer.
I don't have the references at hand but I'm sure someone can come up with them.
The WTS has said the tearing of the viel within the Temple at the time of Jesus'
crucifiction was a sign that God has stopped using the Jews as His people.I personally believe that the only way for the Jews to have come back from near total
annialation to settleing in Israel is to have Gods Hand helping them.
I do think that the Jewish Nation is on center stage at this time.
There are many scriptures in the Bible that refer to the Jews being brought back
to their homeland. And there are also scriptures showing that God is allowing non Jews (gentiles)
to be part of His people. So in answer to your question. Yes. I believe God did bring them back to Israel.

The Trinity: Divine or Demonic?
by Agape inas a non-x-witness, what do you folks think of the concept of one god in three persons?
some of you probably still have a hard time with it, as did raymmond franz, former governing body member.
nonetheless, the claims made by the bible itself seems conclusive enough upon close examination.. so why do recovering jws not question everything outright, rather than slowly, incrementally replacing doctrines.

Hello Agape,
Even though the WTS has proven itself to be a man made org., I do believe
a couple of the teachings.
According to the Bible,I find Jesus and God to be two seperate beings.
Matt.26:39, Mark 13:32, John 17:3, John12:49, Mark14:36
And there are other scriptures that back up the fact that Jesus and God are not the same being.
So as far as the Trinity teaching, I do not believe it has the backing of the Bible.

The Sydney BBQ report
by OlderTom inwell folks i just came from the sydney bbq.
it was good to meet some of the faces behind the names of the posters here... it was funny every time another car rolled up one of us jumped up to show the security keys, i felt like a bit of a goose but it worked.
no uninvited elders showed up.. there was heaps of food and the chocolate mud cake was delicious.

Hi OlderTom,
Ah man, you mean the BBQ is over?
I was getting my row boat ready to row across the big pond.
Oh well. Maybe next time.Tom, you asked a question that I have also been asking.
Why should we fear the Watchtower? They have no authority over us.
You are absolutely correct.
The only power they have is the power we give them. Now, if I start rowing now, I should be in Australia by the year 2005.
What do you think?

Hi Nogs,
Even when I was still active in the org.,I never really understood the WTS reasoning
behind not celebrating birthdays.
There are a couple of cases in the Bible where people have been killed on someones
birthday. ( Gen.40:20-22 & Matt.14: 6-10)
But to me, those scriptures don't prove that birthday celebrations are wrong, they
only show how evil those people were to have people killed.
In the book of Job, didn't they celebrate their special days?
The WTS says that celebrating a birthday is akin to worshipping that one.
Is that really the case?
I have never seen anyone being worshipped on their birthday. How about you?I regret deeply that I listened to the WTS on that matter even though I didn't agree with them.
My kids didn't have birthday celebrations and the sad thing is, once the kids are grown, you can
never give them another childhood. Children miss out on a lot as JW kids due to the teachings
of a man made and man run orginization.
And it's the fault of us parents. We listened to the WTS instead of using our God given right to
use our own conciences on matters.neyank
