  Cool,

  The second article about Angels and Women was interesting too. I'm sure that book has been discussed on this site before. I have read it from a library loan. My mom read it about the time she was studying in the early '60s, apparently her teacher thought at the time it was good reading for her bible study.

  I looked for a copy of Seola some years ago but wasn't able to find one. I do have another book by the same author Mrs J G Smith. I think it is called 'Atla'

  i just discovered this translation into 'hawai'i pidgin' and for some reason found it very amusing.

  they even dubbed the caleb and sophia cartoons into this dialect.. not because i look down on pidgin speakers in any way, more about the way translations like this are revealing and telling in unintended ways..

  I had a subscription to the Solomon Islands Pidgin Watchtower way back in the Eighties. As kids we had great fun with it.

  Convention attendance

  just heard from a pimi cousin who recently attended a convention, and remarked about the low attendance.

  peak was about 500. i remember that circuit, in years past, had attendances of 1000+.

  it's been over a decade now since i last attended a jw convention.

  In these parts they gerrymander the circuits so that the one-day convention has a similar attendance as they used to. The local congregation has been moved to different circuits twice that I recall in the last three years.

  two folks from the local kh visited the house yesterday looking for my wife who is an on again off again baptized jw.

  wife was not available so they asked me to tell her about a special talk on marriage next week.

  any outlines available for this ‘special talk’ or could this potentially be a local issue?.

  The disfellowshipping/removal thing has happened so fast that the print- WT has the word DF but by the time it was studied they had to edit it out of the online version. Wow, unreal.

  extreme hair styles can easily lead one into a trap of the devil also, and cause others to stumble.

  for example, a young man in the united states was making fine progress in his study of the bible, and he was moved to share with an experienced witness in preaching to others about the good things he was learning from the bible.

  from early youth he had let his beard grow, and since some in the business community wore beards, he felt that his wearing one in preaching to others would be acceptable generally.

  I read something recently that touches on this subject that I had never heard before. I've been reading the book 'Epidemics and Society' by Frank Snowden, and in the chapter about Tuberculosis, he comments that in the early 1900's it was commonly believed that going cleanshaven was a protection against contracting and spreading TB. Made me wonder if this could have been one of the reasons Rutherford was against beards.
