What needs to happen now is for Hank Jr to do the bit and open with Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red,White and Blue". I wouldn't put it past him, how Jennings can believe Hank will be anymore "politically correct" is amazing in itself.

Peter Jennings & Toby Keith ,who gets the b...
by Cowboy ina short version,if you haven't heard it already.. abc asked toby keith to appear on their fourth of july special,hosted by peter jennings.in fact they asked keith to open the show with his new patriotic song courtesy of the red,white and blue.that was until jennings got around to listening to the song,apparentley.after which he found the lyrics personally offensive,and insisted that keith be cut from the show.in particular,the line"we'll put a boot in your ass/cause it's the american way"(i've posted the complete lyrics on the thread vincent's goes underground,in case you're interested).
reaction from the music community,both country and pop,has been overwhelmongly in keith's favor.an oklahoma city radio station has started a drive to collect old boots (the crustier,the better).sign 'em,bring 'em in and they'll ship the lot to jennings...guess he can figure out where they're intended to go.several other stations across the country are doing the same.. on a related note,charlie daniels was cut from pbs's fourth of july special because he planned to do his new song the last fallen hero.pbs spokesmen said they had hoped that charlie would perform "some zesty fiddle tunes".... sad that our celebration of freedom isn't free.... nuff said,.

In our hall yard sales, consignment shops and used book stores were forbidden,but we did have a pioneer that went yardsaling out in service, everyone else would sit in the car...twisted...I guess becasue she was soooo spiritual demons never bothered her. Oh btw, I am having a yard sale tomorrow...

we prayed and prayed to jehovah in jesus' name: the "ask anything in my name" jesus.
we asked jehovah, not to cure her miraculously, because that's what people pray for in tent revival meetings.

I have a big Chocolate dog...Lab that is. Her name is Molly and she was my Xmas present. I went to pick out a puppy and their mother walked passed and all but Molly went after the mother. Just so happened she was the biggest of the litter, she had 7 black brothers and sisters and 2 chocolate, her parents were both black.When I got her I could pick her up with one hand now she is 8 months old and 78 pounds. She still thinks she is a puppy and when she climbs on the living room chair she hangs off both sides and will spend forever turning around in circles trying tomake herself fit. She loves water and will climb in the shower with you if you don't secure the bathroom door tightly. She has learned how to use the big block head of hers to open doors and we have had to replace the screen twice because she beat us to the door and went through it.Every time she gets into the front yard she jumps in the little ornamental pond, lays down and sticks her head under the water, it really is a strange sight to see especially when she comes up with a fake lily pad on her head.She loves the kids and lays on top of them, its like she can't get close enough to us.She is wonderful :)

by Pubsinger ina bit of a follow on from the "honesty" thread.. another claim that jws make is that they have stronger marriages and are less likely to divorce.. try writing down all the jw couples that you know of that have divorced.. there are bonus points for those who didnt make 2yrs!.
i think you will be shocked at the number you can come up with.
we came up with 60 couples in less than 20mins.

I was married for 9 years and then divorced due to numerous bouts of infidelity on his part.The elders always counseled us to stay together for the children, finally I had enough, divorced and left the org. Best decision I had made in a long time:)

by SpiderMonkey ini'm spending the week more or less lounging around my place on vacation, & today's my birthday, so i thought i'd ask all you hopeless apostate types <eg>, what's your take on astrology?
for years i thought this was a ridiculous practice, even after leaving the dubs.
but after reading a book that breaks down which planet was where on which day, and how each "affects" me, i don't feel i can blow it all off as coincidence or as one-size-fits-all doubletalk.

JWs at My Door today!
by Amazing inwell, well , well ... guess what ... jws were at my door.
we talked for over an hour.
it has been about two years since i talked with a live jws as they did their door-to-door work ... yes, nbc dateline came up near the end of the conversation ... i could not let them get away without injecting that topic ... and when they gave the opening, i rammed it in .... first, has something happened to jws these day?

None of them ever come to my house, I have been out since 1997 and have never got that yearly call to help bring me back into the fold..I guess they don't want me back. I did have an interesting discussion with two Methodist preachers, after I told them that I felt all organized religion was full of a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites trying to fleece the flock, they agreed with me that it would probably be awhile before I was ready to try attending a different church.....a long while.
Just reading over the thoughtless memorized service "presentations" makes me so glad I am not there anymore. :)

The JWs seem to adjust the grandparent thing to their convenience, I know my ex inlaws who are jws won't have anything to do woth my kids when they are busy with their own stuff...my children are now considered worldly. But every so often they threaten with going to court for grandparents visitation just to rile me up. Supposedly they are moving to Florida to retire....I can only hope :)

she said she even taped it.
she said, "that abuse must be a problem or jehovah wouldn't have let it be brought out like that.

I was speaking with my ex about this on Saturday and it is amazing to me how he will still completely support the org. We used to attend the same cong that Bill Bowen is in so the dateline episode hit close to home. I asked him if he saw dateline, he said yes and he thought "pediophile paradise"was quite an exaggeration, I told him that there were many cases being brought to light and he said he would believe that it went on but not to the degree Bill is claiming. I asked him , don't you think its very wrong that it is going on at all and doesn't it scare you that our children were sometimes left at everyone of the elder's houses in Draffenville what if it would have happened to them. And unbelievably he said, well I don't have anything against any of them there and I don't want to know anymore about it because it doesn't concern me. Mind you...he is disfellowshipped and working towards getting reinstated,most of the time anyway.
