i have been a member jwd for close to 2 years now.
i lurked some time before "taking the plunge" lol.
I have to say that with the last year that I had that I was carried by many posters here..so much love and support and you know who you are..There are so many new ones here now and I'm not feeling as comfortable as I once did..maybe cause when you leave chat the talk behind your back and their real feeling come out..funny they can come up with them when they haven't a clue about you..I'm thinking that's just their own insecurities. They don't know our stories and draw their own conclusions. Whatever!
i am employed with the federal government and we are a new branch so we are in the midst of setting up donations for charity to be donated through our paychecks.
anyway, i volunteered to be a coordinator for the cfc (combined federal campaign) in which i was encouraging people to give some out of their paycheck to a charity of their choice..i have to admit i had flashbacks of being in field service while doing this..lol
i will say that i asked a few jw's that worked there and they didn't give *knows where their money goes.
Tink..Yes that counts. Anytime you give even if it's your time to help benefit someone else it counts. Six..What can I say..I had such high hopes until I enlarged those pics *SWAT sigh.... but I gotta love ya anyway.

I've often wondered why this is such a big "no-no"...
I think the reasoning that many JW's don't give is because they feel their money is better spent in the organization to proclaim the TROOF. In their defense there are many people that feel that many charities are a scam. A little time and research and you can find a good cause.

I know that when my stepfather was terminal several years ago that Hospice helped out and I had a cousin that was also terminal and she was given a trained dog from Paws for Cause. There are more that I know have benefited without even donating so I thought this was a worthy thing to volunteer for. There were allot of great charities to choose from. I was wondering... Do you donate to a charity or have you benefited from a charity?

i was afraid this day would come soon and now it has.
i'm getting a sheperding call this saturday.
i have five days to figure out how i'm going to handle this.
When the elders wanted to meet with me I would make an excuse and every couple of weeks it was the same thing they would try and reschedule a call. One called and tried to set a meeting up and I told him I had a gynecologist appointment and he never called back.

i recently enjoyed reading another post on an ex-jw board about how our past experiences as witnesses have shaped our lives and made us who we are.
there is obvious truth to the effect that our past experiences do effect how we see our selves now, but i think many people who leave the borg are still enslaved to the idea that they are the same person they were then.
i disagree and think things are a little more complex than that.
If I knew who I was suppose to be then I would be who I think I am. Like Karla who is myself..now she knows who she is but I am referring to me not myself. hmmm..I forgot where I was going with this ..never mind.
