  Just got a visit from elders

  well, it's sunday morning and i'm sitting here posting on this board when i hear 2 car doors slam.

  i peek out the window and see 2 elders walking up to the door.

  since i'm still in my jammies, i told my husband to go get the door while i snuck into the bedroom.

  Latte - Thank you and <<<<hugs>>>>> to you too. i have got a brilliant solicitor. All court orders made so far have been in my favour. (Soon to be Ex)husband has shown himself up again and again. i have found hard-core porn sites on the computer that he was visiting. Boy is he in trouble, with my solicitor, the judge, and the PO/CO and local elders!!

  Sometimes in the Kingdom Ministry you will find little sentences that are more strongly worded, because they will only ever be read by the baptized JWs that are sucked in already. Like for example one article talking about going in the ministry in bad weather. It advised taking short breaks, but only if absolutely necessary (or words to that effect). You would never find a statement like that in the Awake, because it would NEVER entice people in!!

  Also statements that say that JWs are the only true religion. It is hinted at in other publications, but the only place I have been able to find it so clearly put is in a Kingdom Ministry!

  I was reading through some old ones a few weeks ago - what a scream!! How many times we were told not to take large cool boxes to the assemblies!!

  I left in October 01. Two elders came round in the November. They spouted the usual stuff, said they were worried because I was their friend etc etc. Didn't believe them. They didn't say anything to make me change my mind, or even contemplate doing so.

  Since then my husband and I have separated (he is still an active JW, now living with his parents), and I am dragging the JW name through the local courts to prevent my husband taking our 3 year old to meetings etc.

  Funny how I haven't had another elder visit since. I think they are scared!!

  Hypocrisy in Bethal V's the publishers

  lets see what is the difference between a bethalite and a publisher?.

  when working in bethal you are considered to be a pioneer.. that means in bethal you can do carpentry , cleaning , cooking , painting ,washing clothes , ironing sorting out bills and accounts and many other jobs and be considered a pioneer and spiritualy strong.. you can even miss meetings do no ministry in the week and still be spiritualy strong.. if extra work is needed to be done you can miss meetings to do it and still be considered a pioneer and spiritually strong.. if you are a publisher and spend all week doing house work , decorating your house sorting bills out a miss a meeting or don't go on the ministry you are spiritually weak.. the elders will be concerned at your lack of spiritual goals and you may become an iregular publisher or even inactive.. of course the publisher has the advantage of having to do all his/her menial tasks after working full time to pay the bills.. i wish i could be spiritually strong like those bethalites.. of course as a publisher if i had a house kept as well as bethal employing all those extra workers to do so i would be considered materialistic, but the governing body can do that and still be considered spritualy strong.. of course there are no class distinctions with jehovahs witnesses all are equal just some more than others.

  I visited the UK Bethel about 4 years ago.

  I was amazed that they all have to wash and change for lunch, then go back to the job in the afternoon. That isn't too much hassle if you work in the office, but how about if you work in the workshops? That is a complete, major overhaul to rid yourself of oil, grease, petrol and diesel, change, eat lunch, and then start all over again!!

  What a fine waste of time THAT is!!

  Why can't they take half an hour out - and eat a sandwich in the workshop.

  Or like me, eat a sandwich at my desk while I CARRY ON WORKING!!

  No wonder they have problems once they leave Bethel. They are back to being children again - only ever having to do one thing. All the meals, cooking, cleaning, laundry is done by someone else.

  Unexpected elder visit

  last week i asked for advice for a relative who had left her husband.. well, yesterday the elders called on her, in her new place, in another congregation's territory, so her husband must have given them her address.. she thought it was the mailman, so opened the door, surprised to see the elders.

  she told them this was not a good time, and one said "can we come back later?

  so he says, "are your refusing to meet with the elders, then?

  Well done. It takes a lot of courage to stand up to people that for years and years you have had to respect.

  We are all giving them a difficult time aren't we??

  Purpose of life

  the ageold question that i'm sure we have all given some degree of thought to...what is the purpose of life?

  anyone have a theory/opinion they would like to share?.

  my personal opinion on this is not solid enough yet to be considered a belief.

  As a JW, you spent so much of your time and energy looking forward to the new system and the wonderful life that is to come. At the same time trashing all that this world offers, that you forget to enjoy the simple things of life. Like celebrating your children's birthdays, Christmas together as a family - both of which are forbidden by the Watchtower org.

  I think the main aim in life is happiness and contentment, all the time trying your best to live peacably with those around you.

  What else could you possibly want?

  Oh yes sorry i forget - hours and hours of mental torture sitting at a kingdom hall being told you aren't spending enough time in the ministry, answering up enough at meetings, or doing enough personal/family study with your children.

  Hmm the sarcasm is coming in again!!

  Enjoy xmas everybody!!

  I am opposed to the majority of teachings that originate with the GB: the Blood issue being a fine example. I detest the mind control that they use with the general rank and file. Those in the GB are power freaks with no thought of the the individuals desperately trying to follow their rules from day to day.

  I am not opposed to the individual Jehovah's Witnesses. I try to remember how I felt when someone in the congregation drifted away or was DA /DF. I was scared to talk to them. I would like to bet that most JW's feel the same way. I strongly believe that most (not all) JWs are sincere people who are trying to lead good lives. Unfortunately they are so under the mind control of the GB that they will follow irrational guidelines, purely because they are scared to do otherwise.

  However I am not letting their rules govern my life, or my daughter's life. To the extent that I am taking my (ex) husband to court to prevent him taking our daughter to meetings or involving her in any JW activity.

  On the occasion when a JW calls at my door I ask them questions that might start THEM thinking about what they are preaching. I take literature from them because it helps me keep uptodate with the GBs thinking. I am never rude or abusive to JW's.

  You never know - the JWs calling at your door today, might be posting on this board this time next year!! Well it happened to us didn't it?

  Only Fools And Horses Xmas Special

  it's 5 years since dellboy and rodney made their last episode.

  i thought that fans may be interested to know that they are actually filming a 3 part christmas special here in wsm right now as i post this.. david jason (dellboy) paid my local pub a visit last time he was here, i actually nodded to him as though he was a regular before it sank in who he was.. maybe he will turn up again, hope he doesn't bring that plonker with him......!.

  My favourite episode is when Delboy goes into the yuppie winebar - trying to impress some women, and attempts to nonchalantly lean on the bar. Only the flap is up!! Hilarious!! I laugh EVERY time.
