I felt like you at first, and I think part of it for you is trying to erase the JW lies you've always believed, however one seems to still be bothering you: it seems like you feel Armageddon is about to pounce on you still. It's still coming, but if you love Jesus and follow him you have nothing to worry about. What I did is read the entire New Testament in both the NIV and ESV versions of the Bible. Put your New World Translation away, it's confusing and isn't accurate. Pick it up later when comparing translations, but not now. Put away the WT library, don't pick up those books right now either. Just read the Bible like I did. It's amazing how different it is reading a different translation. God doesn't seem so angry anymore LOL. Read and pray, read and pray. Pour your heart out to God and never worry He won't hear you. Pray for Holy Spirit. To follow Jesus truly you have to try to live as he did and try to do the things he asks of us. All He asks is that you try your best. Stay strong! Peace.

You're Never Good Enough
by Ding ini've talked with a number of jws who have commented that they feel like failures -- that they're never good enough.. if that resonates with someone reading this post, please realize that you are by no means the only one who feels like that.. in fact, the whole wt system depends on keeping jws feeling that way.
the gb wants you to feel that way.. think about it.
you are always reading or hearing about someone who puts in an extraordinary number of hours in field service or someone who goes out more than you do despite having twice as many challenges and responsibilities.

Where is the Society headquarters these days?
by rory-ks ini actually find this whole matter a bit creepy.
i find it very hard to think of the watch tower society as a cult in the same mould as jonestown or the branch davidians, and yet their out-of-town facilities increasingly take on the appearance of a cultish stronghold.. where is the society headquarters these days?
is it up in wallkill?

Their beliefs about who the 144,000 in Revelation are. They call them the "annointed class" and that only they go to heaven, only they can partake of the Lord's Supper because "they are in the new covenant", Jesus is only their mediator, not everyone's, etc.

They have a standard reply when you tell them JW is not the truth, they say the Bible says "Where else shall we go?" when in reality Peter says "To whom shall we go away to? You have words of eternal life." (John 6:68) which he says to and about Jesus, not about leaving the JW religion.

Letter about using iPads at meetings
by under the radar infirst of all, i really appreciate it when official, especially "secret," boe letters and the like are posted here.
it's great to have that stuff on hand, straight from the horse's... uhh...mouth, when certain "friends" deny the slave would ever do or say such and such.... anyway, there have been some references to a letter they sent out about using ipads and the like during congregation meetings.
could anyone provide a scan or link to this letter?

I heard about this only I heard it was a Kindle. My (wacky, self-righteous) cousin (the one who argued with me on Facebook about women wearing pants to the meetings) told me it was because it would be distracting to see a bro on the platform with one and that it would make new ones or the rank and file want to go out and buy one or feel like they had to buy it. (LOL okay then...) and that only the regular Bible would be allowed on the platform.

My 2 cents: I believe Jesus is divine, can also be called God. I don't believe he is the Father though because how could Jesus not know the day and the hour yet the Father could? Therefore they're different yet the same titles can be applied to them both and I feel worship can be given to them both. But Jesus is not the Father. That's the way I understand it.

LouBelle: It is not as easy as just picking it up and reading it and praying for inspiration.
Actually, for those that believe, it can be that easy. You can get out the Greek/Hebrew interlinears and dictionaries and all that if you're researching something specific, but I just pick up the Bible and read. I do try to read in order somewhat, like I read Matthew to Revelation, now I'm re-reading Matthew again since my church is doing sermons on it lately, but when I finish I want to get into the Psalms. Sometimes I just randomly read Psalms when I'm bored or upset or something. I have a hard time reading the Old Testament, a lot of so and so begat so and so haha, but it's still good stuff.
Sometimes I google or Wiki specific topics, but mostly I don't really pay much attention to people's interpretations and try to take the Bible as it really is, God's Word. If you do it that way and pray asking for Holy Spirit to help you understand, it goes pretty quickly and is nowhere near as painful as JWs made it.

Are the JWs were you are getting worked up over having a to go bag (Armageddon bag) ready?
by life is to short inok where i live in the pacific northwest in january of this year this elder from the hall called a special meeting and gave everyone some papers that he had gotten from some government place on what to put in an emergency bag to grab in case you have to flee your home in seconds.
i thought it was just my husbands hall being all strange and stupid over this.
one older sister said that the elder told everyone they needed three bottles of water for 14 days that is 42 bottles of water plus whatever other stuff they put in there not sure if she got that right because 42 bottles of water is a lot of weight.

They did it in my mom's congregation in CT, it's not a bad idea for natural disasters and such.
