I've often wondered if 1914 was a common code.
Just a side note...aren't the Catholic Churches left open 24/7 allowing people to come in a pray whenever the need hits them?
just back from renovating my holiday home in the south west of france.
beats yorkshire anyday.... anyway thought i would share this little account with you.. as most are of you are aware, the alarm code for about 90% of kingdom halls is 1914 (nineteen fourteen).. i t seems though that for the last 8 or 9 quick builds or refurbs in the uk, the brother who installed the numbers into the alarm control panel used the numbers 1975 and explained the number as one nine seven five not the the easier version (ninteen seventy five).. trivial joke or honest mistake, either way this poor brother has been rumbled and has to to meet with 2 elders investigating on behalf of a body of elders to see whether an apostasy charge will be brought.. he is supposed to be meeting with them over the next few days.. .
a very sad jem, who is sick of the whole elder abuse game.

this is in response to the post on december 10, : "a wedding gone bad"-.
the question: do you really need liquor at a wedding reception?.
here is my story:.
The only one who really needs liquor at a wedding is the father of the bride.
we've talked before about how ineffectual field service is, but i decided to test the idea.
i asked the question "what do you know about jehovah's witnesses?
" on a non-witness related board and got some interesting results.
The worst chewin' out I ever got was from man I called on in service on Thanksgiving morning. Then to make matters worse I ran into him in a store a few days later and he started chewin' on me again for bothering them on a holiday.
I don't think I ever went out on a holiday again.
i am following the sci-fi channel presentaion of steven spielbergs taken .
i tell you what this is one cool mini series .anyone here claim to be abducted ?they say the show is based on accounts reported by people claiming to be taken .

I don't normally watch much TV but I took the hook on this one. I can't wait to see what these darn aliens plans really are.
You should read 'Demon Haunted World' by Carl Sagan. He discusses the UFO phenomenon.
just curious,.
one reason i pop on and off the internet is i trade and invest on ameritrade.
coming here is sometimes a break while i'm waiting for a stock to move.

I dabble in it because it is rather addicting. I have a day job so it's hard to watch the markets. Do you use any other trading platforms or software such as TCNet or Tradestation? I'll continue to study the markets and develop my skills. Read any good books lately?
i need some really good points to prove to my husband once and for all, everything i have learned so far is right.
we were talking again last night, and he actually for the first time said he would look at the information that i have found.
i have the coc book, and i dont want to throw a whole bunch of stuff at him at one time.
Arguing doctrinal points is difficult if you are dealing with someone thoroughly indoctrinated in the belief system. Depending on what your husband is interested in you may want to suggest that he research the society chronology, especially in reference to 607 and the destruction of Jerusalem. At least with that there is abundant evidence available to disprove the WT dating. COC references the book 'Gentile Times Reconsidered' which to me was extremely well researched and understandable.
perhaps someone out there knows if this is a common jw paranoia.
once a sister in my hall was going to have a baby.
because she wasn't in the "click" no one offered to give her a baby shower.
When I was congregation secretary, I kept the records on a computer program developed by a brother. Though I was never told to dump the program as it was extremely usefull and made the monthly report to the society a breeze, there was always a high level of apprehension about those records being on my personal computer. The program was password protected and I was told never to allow anyone access to the records nor to used the publisher lists for any purpose other than congregation related. And yeah I heard the same stories about the list falling into the wrong hands and putting the publishers at risk. I don't know what the current policy is about maintaining congregation records on personal computers.
i'm quite new to this forum (only a handful of posts).
but from what i've read up to now, it seems apparent that some of you have abandoned your belief in a god.
is this because of trauma brought about by the jw religion?
Not sure what I believe at this point.
this saturday marks the season opener for the university of florida fiiiiiiigghhhhtin' gators!!!!!!

>do you remember at assemblies when you would hear talks on how the organization loves its young people.
by publishing a book "young people ask" this would be pretty much the extent of what they would do for it's young people.
it would be like a father saying to his kids i love you, here is a book how to live your life and never spend any time with them.
Wonder what they're afraid of?
