i was sat watching tv tonight, her ladyship was dozing after a hard day, george the cat was purring and number 3 son had fallen asleep.. number 2 son was talking on the phone to his girlfriend, number 1 was out selling finance to prospective home-buyers.. know what?

these sons of mine know that i am always on their side, no matter what they do.

i can't think of anything that they could do to stop me loving them.

Navco....I'd like to respond to what you have writtten but I have no idea what you just said. ANYWAY....I am just a dumb country boy and I really hesitate to stick my neck too far out there but my daughter was disfellowshipped several months ago. I love her more than life and would NEVER shun her under any circumstances. She told me she was blown away by the fact that her parents stood by her and defended her dignity and person. She has been reinstated and I guess that I (or we, her parents) have done too good a job of indoctrinating her into JW ways. She feels that she deserved whatever she got. I am trying to get us all into counseling. I do not know what else to do.

triple whammy

in the aftermath of tuesday's disaster, i can reflect on the past three weeks as the "summer from hell!".

my stepfather died on august 24, then my beloved cousin, sharon, took a dramatic turn for the worse, and died on september 6. we had barely gotten over the trauma of her memorial service on sunday, when this awful situation happened in our country.

sharon's sons had flown here from wisconsin and new york to be here the last few days of their mother's life, and now are stranded far from home, due to the airlines being out of commission, so to speak.. we were talking today about how when things finally get back to normal, in our lives, how sharon's death will hit us so hard!!

They say trouble comes in bunches. Hopefully your bunch is over for now. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.....and various other cliches that I can't think of right now.

i appreciate the words of another poster who commented that he felt it unwise to post in anger.

i have tried to hold calm and keep my anger in check, but that started to change with my nato posting yesterday.. i am set back over 30 years: i was raised to respect all races, and not to be prejudiced.

i was also raised a proud american, and that it was important not to tolerate bullies.

IMHO the US has a unique opportunity here. For once the American public and in fact most of the world are united or at least willing to allow the US to conduct a campaign against terrorism that goes beyond trying to punish only those directly responsible, but also any who support them. If we are ever going to have a safe world in which to live and raise children, or in my case see grandchildren grow up, we must not allow this opportunity to pass. I do not know how to go about it but the price for sponsoring such cowards must become too great to bear. If not now, than when?

this was posted on msnbc.com under an article explaining why people jumped off the twin towers.. years ago, frederick says, a colleague of his set up an experiment where he subjected laboratory animals to excruciating pain.

they could go into another chamber to escape the pain, but if they did they would get their heads chopped off.

other lab animals were allowed to observe this, so they knew what would happen.

HS....You are correct. The Societies current stance on suicide is that we cannot fully understand the why of such an act thus we are not in position to judge...

everybody has called for everything from full scale nuclear assault to a more measured response, against targets ranging from the entire middle east to just the perpetrators.

the only country in which arabs can vote for their leaders is israel, where native born arabs are given citizenship.

Would you care to articulate your idea of a just response by the U.S.?
As has been pointed out, the arrest of terrorists seems not to have produced the desired result(the cessation of terrorist attacks) as of yet. The scenes of people dancing in the streets seems to indicate a support for terrorist activities. I personally have mixed feelings about what would be appropriate in this case, however I do feel that this is a challenge to democracy which cannot go unanswered. I am open to new ideas if you have anything to offer and I am looking forward to reading your thoughts on the matter.

Norm...Thanks for posting the commentary. I am interested in reading his book, however I do not want to waste my time and money if there is nothing more than what could be found in the WT publications.
