Matrix moment - what was it and when did you share it?

for those of you who had a moment like that from the matrix when you realised what you'd believed was fundamentally flawed or a lie - what caused that defining moment and how long was it before you could share your thoughts?.

I have been inactive since December 2005. I recall attending a one-day Special Assembly and seeing just how controlling the organization is and how most went along with out question. I believe it was at the noon break. We were just told by the chairman that we were not allowed to eat in the auditorium and needed to move to the dining room. Everyone marched in unison to the dining room. It reminded me of the scene in H.G. Wells "Time Machine" when the air raid sirens started up and all the people started heading towards the underground entrance like they were in a trance.

It was about year ago when I first came to this website. I recall my father, who is a true believer, called me to tell me that I needed to get back in because the organization was going to close it's doors to outsiders, soon. So, I came here looking for info on last year's District Convention as I felt he was referring to something said on the program.

After about an hour of going through various threads I was certain that Jehovah's Witnesses have been a scam since the days of Rutherford.

I believe if there were really was a man who lived that is now called "Jesus" (Joshua would be a more accurate translation) as described in the Bible he would love me. Even non-christians recognize the wisedom and love displayed by the man we call "Jesus".

If a diety whom has been dubbed "Jesus" does exist I would have to imagine that other dieties do, as well. There is no more evidence to suggest that a Yahweh or Jesus is real than there is Zeus, Odin, or any other god that is or was worshipped.

We can thank Emperor Constatine for spreading Christianity to non-christians. This was usually done at spear or sword point. Most christians believe Christianity is the true religion because that is how they were raised.

I worked as a correctional officer in a county jail for 7 years. I've seen everything from a 12 inch strap on dildo to narcotics to weapons make it past the booking area into the inmate housing areas because officers were not allowed to strip search pre-sentenced inmates. Strips searches are normally performed on arrestees who are not bonding out and are being processed for housing in population.

Just a couple of pointers:

1) Lay some ground rules. No Watch Tower publications may be used as proof. Watch Tower publications refernce other writings. Tell him to use those writings.

2) Show him that the whole concept of 1914 came from William Miller whom Charles Russell followed and believed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Miller_(preacher)

3) Show him that Charles Taze Russell, a Freemason, got the 1914 date from his measurements of the Great Pyramid of Egypt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Taze_Russell

satan v jehovah

thinking about these two characters you know.... the bible tells us what jehovah says satan is about and wants to do.. it also tells us what jehovah says he (jehovah) will do and his actions of what he has done.. the bible tells us of all the murder and mayhem cause by the israelites as they genocided their way through the middle east.. and who told them do this these evil deeds?.

and why hasn't satan appeared on the late show to say..."you know guys, iv'e had a bad rap over the years so i thought i'd pop in and tell my side of the story".... oz.

Question about 2 Tim. 3:16

regarding 2 tim.

3:16, "all scripture is inspired by god".....since the only scripture at the time this was written was the old testament (hebrew scriptures, if you prefer), would it make sense to reason that this scripture cannot be used by itself to support new testament writings?....that the scriptures referred to in this verse were the old testament?.

as an apostle paul had authority, but to me it seems that some of the things paul wrote were related as "commands" to the congregations, whereas other things were only his suggestions or his perspective and that it was up to the individuals to decide for themselves.. your thoughts on this?.

If "all scripture is inspired" would that not include apocryphal books, as well? After all, the Bible canon was decided centuries after the last book was written. Not to mention, it was a council of church leaders who basically voted on what books to put in and which to leave out.

alright so i know this is a tricky subject.

but i'm curious to know right now more than anything.... i keep hearing that the number of jws around the world is growing.

is this true?

Each day that Armageddon delays requires Jehovah to destroy an extra 200,000 people."

Wow! What a shocking figure. That totally changes one's perception of the big picture.

Attended 2-Day Circuit Assembly--Highlights

since my spouse is an active elder, i accompany him to sads, cas and das, at least for the time being.

anyway, i thought i'd share some of the more odd/disturbing bits from the latest "sanctify god's name" ca.

there wasn't anything particularly new but the tone toward porn, higher ed, bad assoc, "habitual" murmuring and harmful gossip is definitely hardening, as are the cautions against social networking.

The "overlapping" generation is not obvious otherwise that would have been the definition from day 1 and I know of no evidence.

At last....I made the connection with an old friend...who is a practising Pagan

I am very happy for you. I, too, have reconnected with old and dear friends who were born-in Witnesses and then left the organization. One of them is also now a practicing pagan.

I do not like the term "pagan" as it means "country dweller" and was used as an insult by christians towards those who practiced their native religion. Most of us can trace our ancestors back to someone who was not christian and was later converted by pain of death. I now honor my ancestors by wearing amulets of Odin and Thor.
