this teaching is so unique and singular to the jws and fascinates me greatly but i have yet to get any jw answer how this choosing actually happened and instead i'm left with the same feeling of confusion that i get when i ask how someone would know they were anointed.
how did this process of selecting a correct church occur, how did they know it would happen in 1919 if they weren't pre-selected already, how did they know it was going to happen (bit rough on all the other churches who clearly didn't get a chance to spruce themselves up for 1919) and once the votes were cast and jehovah made up his mind how did he inform the contestants of the results?
do the jws claim any kind of divine affirmation of their selection at all?
It has to be true, cause I read it in the WATCHTOWER magazine!

i have collected sayings, homilies, whatever along the way that crystallize something bigger i learned.
i will post a few every day.
if you have one, please share it.. if you lie down with dogs, you'll get up with fleas.. to belittle is to be little.. somewhere, i got the idea if i just took care of others, i would be taken care of.. blondie

i am a long time lurker (almost 2 years) but first time poster.
even though you didn't know me before now, i feel like i have known a lot of you for quite a while.
from my time viewing jwd, i have learned many things and have felt like sometimes that you were talking directly to me.
Me thinks she is not putting Jehovah 'first' but rather an organization. Jehovah counsels to stay with a so-called 'unbeliever' as the correct way to handle a situation like yours.

there are so many new posters here now, i think this topic should be revisited.
i believe the most ridiculous belief that witnesses have is a "slave class" made up of 144,000 give spiritual "food at the proper time".
why can't jws see thru this??
My wife was a Special Pioneer many years ago and they used that scripture in a letter to her admonishing her to be 'faithful & discreet' in her Pioneering ministry. So, I guess she could have been a 'faithful & discreet slave'!

i still consider myself a christian, and would like to find a forum where good discussions about faith and christianity are featured.
i love the give and take here - and will not be abandoning this forum - i just want to add a dimension to my spiritual thinking that seems missing at the moment.
i do not attend church.
No, but if you find one let me know too!

the thread on how long it took you to get out of the organisation made me think.
i honestly think anyone that spends more than half an hour per day on anti-jw sites like this is, psychologically, not out of the organisation at all, despite their best protests.
the watchtower clearly still fascinates them to the point of an obsessive, compulsive need to frequently post on this website and others.
I only spend 29 minutes a day on this site, so I guess I'm okay/normal?

i told a friend that i had just seen a late model toyota down the road, in front of a house, with a price marked on it of only $900!
well, hasn't the watchtower told us for over a hundred years that 'the end' is just a little farther down the road?
and then they were mad at me for asking the simple question, 'i don't want to appear to be disrespectful, but are you guys sure you know what you're talking about?
I told a friend that I had just seen a late model Toyota down the road, in front of a house, with a price marked on it of only $900! He said, 'Lets go take a look right away'! We drove two miles, and I told him 'just a little farther'. 5 miles, and we still didn't see any car. 10 miles, I'm sure it must be right around the corner. We finally went 100 miles and my friend said, 'Do you know what the He*%, you're talking about?' Hey, don't I deserve a little respect?

i became a jw at age 28 and no way did i expect to ever get older than 40 years old in this system.. maybe at the extreme, i could have imagined being 45 years old, not more..
Well, actually Armageddon did come in 1975. It just wasn't quite as bad as I expected it to be! I was 31 when it came.

Hey, why ain't I getting younger now?cc
www.librarything.com.
i created an account there using my jwd handle and am starting to list all the books i own.. http://www.librarything.com/catalog/daystar.
it's free, simple to use and pretty darn cool!.
It might be good if you have books you want to sell (Old WT, Collectible Books, etc.). I have quite a few that could be sold on e-bay/Amazon etc. Also, am looking for a few books too.
