How about the idea that there is no such thing as SIN or falling short, that we are all creator-gods ourselves, and, yes, that we created good AND evil because how could one appreciate good if there were no evil with which to compare it?

The Idea of Perfection
by Cold Creek Swimmer inas i was growing up, i was raised to believe in the story of adam and eve and the garden of eden.
this, i am sure, is what the majority of us were taught as children.
along with this teaching is the idea that perfection was lost when adam and eve sinned.

Fear of death.
by JeffT ini'm noticing a trend in the modern world.
everything comes with a scare story.
this was prompted by the shark steak thread and the talk about mercury in the food chain.

"Here's a news flash world: someday you're going to die. Deal with it."
I dealt with it at age 45 when I said to myself, "You're [at least!] halfway to dead."
It made me think about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life--this time around. I believe I'm eternal, but that doesn't make a painful and/or prolonged death any more palatable.
I hope to live until I'm in my 90's, spry, healthy, and having had a good time living life, traveling a lot, and seeing my grandkids (and great grandkis?) grow up. Then, to go quickly in my sleep.
It may not happen that way, but it could....

Email from my Mom defending WTS, Point/counter point/ Point
by Burger Time ina little back story; i have been having a lot of debates with my mom about society stuff.
anyways i directed her to the watchtower documents and the molestation charges.
she then sent me an email here is what she wrote, the orginal email was just a link to the site and i said something to the effect of, jehovah makes public the records that were supposed to be hidden!

I thought your response was quite good, too, BT.
Does she not feel it's right to protect the children? I mean, child molestation is heinous, right? So how is it smarter to "mind one's own business" when innocents are being hurt?
Ah, well, you keep doing it your way... I think you're already getting results with this dialogue.

DID ADAM AND EVE HAVE A BELLY BUTTON?
by badboy inif they won't,at what point did human have a belly buton.. what is jw viewpoint on subject?

No belly buttons, no.
And Adam didn't need nipples, but does any man? I say yes, he had them, because they can also be used for erotic nibbling. ;)
However, if Adam didn't have a foreskin, how did the foreskin become a sign of a special covenant with Jehovah? Oh -- 'cause he was perfect? So only his sons, born in sin, grew foreskins?
The things I never thought to think about! LOL

by collegegirl21 inokay, so my guy and i have been together for 10 months and we usually are ok together.
but there is something that has been getting to me and i think its unusual, but please correct me if i'm wrong - he won't let me sleep over at his house.
and he hardly ever stays at my house, he's maybe stayed here 3 times in our whole relationship.

I say, "Run!!!"
Given that's he's already been married, fathered a child, and been divorced means he's probably older than you. RAF is right that he may be dating you because you are easier to control than a woman his own age.
I was ready to tell you, "run," as soon as I read that he compared you to a child in that very first post of yours. Someone else pointed out that to be successful, you should see one another as being in an adult-adult relationship. He is NOT your father. You don't want to date your FATHER.
And if he has a mean streak, where he berates you for asking for what you want from the relationship, making you unhappy or sad, that is not a healthy relationship. Scully was right that he's playing you by only giving you part of what you want to keep you "mostly" satisfied with the relationship.
I think you should get out now and find a "mutually satisfying relationship" with somebody who will not merely treat you like an equal, but who will cherish you so much he WANTS to hold you as much as you desire to be held.
Unfortunately, what you describe is a lot like what my marriage was like. I spend almost 30 years pleasing my ex-, having a "pretty good" life, and never really asking myself what I wanted. It took him cheating on me for me to finally say, "that's it!" Save yourself some pain and lots of wasted time. Seriously set out to answer those questions Cog raised, and then hold out for the relationship of your dreams. When you are clear on what are your wants and needs, you will attract the person who will meet them.
I wish you only the best -- and from what I've read, Dennis isn't it.
Sincerely,

JW RN having conscience issues

"...a doctor might direct her to perform a blood test for some purpose."
It is poorly written responses like these that confuse the position of JWs when it comes to the blood issue. Am I wrong, or does this imply that JW RN's or techs cannot draw blood for testing. Is that the case? Is it against the religion to have blood drawn for medical tests? I never thought so.
The thing is this is mentioned in the same sentence as an abortion and then later in the same QFR a blood TRANSFUSION is linked with an abortion.
It's crazy-making, I think, and confusing for both JWs and worldlies who are trying to understand just what IS the JW stance on blood.

She is quite a wonderful woman, isn't she?
Nice to see you, (((((SimpleSally)))))!. I had heard treatment was done, and I'm glad the odds are in your favor.
The jury's out as far as I'm concerned about whether or not one can say that cancer is a blessing, but to me it was certainly a good opportunity to reflect on my life, to learn to ask for and accept help, and to be grateful for the kindesses people displayed.
You are one of the many people on JWD who positively affected my journey, and I thank you for that.
Hugs,
