This is so horrible. Just a few guys having a great vacation together, and bam this happens. I am especially sorry for that daughter who was going to go... she probably has the survivors remorse and I hope she'll get counciling. Nice people having a fun time, good time to question why a lvong god would do this.

Metatron, I'm glad that you posted this info. Who is getting baptized? Only dub kids? You'd think they'd know better? Are they baptizing younger? That way catch them before the autonomy of puberty hits.

Jes, I am also a survivor of abuse. Not by a parent, but by a sibling. But maybe I could also throw my Mom and Dad in because they knew. God it hurts to even write that after so much therapy and meds. It hurts because I still don't understand how family members can do/condone these atrocoties.
I would like to tell 14 yr old Jes that I would hug her and that we should go slay those demons who destroyed whole parts of us.
I think you have taken a great step in getting therapy at 27. I was ten yrs older when I finally went for help. It seems you have supportive friends on this forum. Make good use of that love and attention.
You asked about getting over the hate and pain, well that doesn't actually happen, but you will continue. I started college at 37 studied in China started grad school went back to China --- you will do more than survive if only because you took action yourself. I think you should work on whatever you are interested in, because that's what you'll be good at doing. You now have the freedom to NOT get sucked into another cult... this leaves tons of time for what you want.
Love from your sister in pain, Panda

Good grief, I'm reading the KM and wondering how I ever believed that crap. It is so obviously controlling. How could it happen? I feel stupid for ever falling for the lines like How will you stand before the son of man? When that had nothing to do with the WTS line of cult control.
I'm not passed the anger, sorrow and pain, maybe I never will be, I mean would it be possible to amputate the WTS?

by ISP inposted on sunday, march 23 @ 17:03:11 gmt on admin .
sensational new details emerged in the press last night about the video diary in which princess diana tearfully describes the lonely despair of her loveless marriage.. .
the video was uncovered by detectives investigating theft allegations against former royal butler paul burrell during a raid at his home two years ago.. they were looking for evidence for his trial which eventually ended with his aquittal.. .

IMO the Royals were not raised to love anyone. They are snobs (mostly). Even the beloved Queen Mum (deceased) had a hand in prohibiting her daughter (QEII) from marrying the man of her choice. I know I know it's a matter of traditional values, but of course that's all come crashing down too. Prince Phillip (isn't he Prince because he was a prince before marriage?) has accepted his ornamental and heir producing position. And heck, what father wouldn't give up so much for their son to be King of England?
OK, Prince Charles may or may not have had an interlude w/ another guy. SO WHAT? The CPB affair (I assume it never really ended) was as much CPB's fault as Chas. Many women suffer through loveless marriages because they don't realise they can make it on their own.
Princess Diana was a beautiful and caring woman, I think that was her personality whether or not she was Royal. Her son will be King one day, that seems fitting.
OH yeah BTW ---Of the previous King Charles' of England one lost his head, and the other his power.
Now I say William is a great name for a King !

Witness Costume Parties?
by shamus indoes anyone remember a watchtower saying that costume parties were inappropriate for christians?
i seem to remember that they were labeled in the "deamon" category, even if you had one and it had nothing to do with halloween.. is this true?
does anyone remember this crap?

Well, I remember a costume party in EauClaire Wisconsin. It was around 1980, so before either of those articles. The young single sisters came dressed in minimal garb as belly dancers and Pochantas-wanna-be's , but since they would arouse only natural sexual feelings I'd say that was honoring a god obsessed with sex.

I have heard from other ex-dubs that they never really paid any attention the "the date" thing. So inventing new groups from the OT won't bother them (and hasn't).
The WTS will unfortunately continue. They will get new converts, new light and more buildings. The little flock will have spiritual sons and daughters chosen from heaven where the dead/undead annointed are seated w/Christ, who is obviously not in any hurry for a second coming because of "bla blah xyzin chapter something vs something" which shows how wonderfully blessed we are to have been given this new light which no one else has found.
The blood issue will continue to be watered down. Too late for many. "They died faithful," that statement makes me vomit.
So according to the WTS there are NEVER doctrinal changes, merely new light. There will always be an R/F. There will always be men desiring power over them.

An old film which came out around the time of the Exorsist was "Don't Look Now" with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie. That one can still scare me. The first time I saw Alien I was so tense that my back and neck hurt for days after, but so many films took that equation afterwords that everyone is used to that suspense now. I used to be scared of House on Haunted Hill with Vincent Price. The rope around the ankles, blood dropping from the ceiling, a skeleton rising from the acid ... those were "special effects" in their day.
For real Halloween fun Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein.
Other scary movies: The Thing is both scary suspence and mystery. I've seen it several times and never get tired of the story.
The Shining is scary but the remake (which corresponds to the book) is a bit more interesting. However, no one scares like Nicholson.
I thought the Ring was scarey, and Hellraiser

A funny thing happened on the way to the SuperCuts
by Euphemism inwell, actually, at the supercuts.. as the hair-dresser was cutting my hair, we made occasional small-talk.
after i mentioned that i was getting married soon, she asked where the wedding would be; and with some embarrassment, i said that it would be at the kingdom hall.
later on, i mentioned that i had lived in ny, and she asked: "were you at bethel?".
