What Does the Term "Higher Consciousness" make you project or think it is?

this has been on my mind for some time,,reading coward's book on jungs and eastern thought were he talks about jung's model of enlightenment and the kundalini rising up the chakras.. but after reading this book and several others i come to think that it is a sort of waking up and uniting with the self that is at the very center of our existence and in fact the core of everything, the center which is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere, to borrow a phrase from the mystics about the sacred geometry of a sphere.. i think of it as a painful and rewarding process,,at least that's the way i see it now.

hey what is the purpose in life anyway?

i think jung says to reach a measure of wholeness, or making as much of the unconscious conscious,(a dangerous process which is sorta like out in a boat fishing in a big sea, fishes(unconsciousness) being brought in the boat(consciousness) can become too big or too many and the boat sinks(schizophrenia).. .

I think many creative people feel that they tap in to a "Higher Cosciousness" when "inspiration" comes to them. Some say that what they then produce in the way of art, music or poetry etc, feels as though it has come from outside of them.

This is very humble of them, not taking all the credit, but it is my belief that what they do comes from within them.

Our minds are incredible in their abilities, quite often we "know" something witout actually realising how we know it , I think inspiration is like that.

Many creative people also feel that it is not good to analyse the process and how it works too much, if they do they will lose their Muse.

They could be right, perhaps too much introspection is bad for us.

at one time i felt my jw famliy members hated me.

because i turn my back on the cult.. today i feel sorry for them and it,s not hate they.

feel.. they way i see it, first of all it,s frustrating serving a. god that you can never please, serving a god that.

Well said Wontleave ! that post is so well structured it is almost poetry, and so so true !

And to think, not so long ago many of us on here were one of the "dumb-asses in the congregation ", some may criticise you for that expression, I do not, I was one, albeit not as dumb as some.

It was coming on here that made me realise how deprived of information and education I was as a JW.

I feel sorry that 7million are deprived of the joy and freedom that being able to learn from proper sources, not lieing ones like the WT, brings.

I feel sorry for them, even though it is mainly their own laziness that makes them captive, I had to work hard to free myself.

which reminds me of the truman show, the film that many of us here have taken as a metaphor for realising that the jehovah's witness world is not real.. but now i can't help wondering what happened to truman when he left his fake world and entered the real world.

Although we could argue long and hard as to what is the answer to Pilate's philosophical "What is Truth ?" I think we are well aware of what consitutes lies.

They may not be the polar opposite of what we have not defined, truth, but they certainly are a long way from it. Lies involve inaccuracy and insincerity, and that is what we found rampant in the WT once we stepped outside of our Truman Show- like bubble.

That is what was so difficult to deal with emotionally when we woke up, those who had assured us for as long as we can remember that they told us the truth, that indeed, we were "in the truth" , were not giving us facts, but half-truths and downright lies, they knew what they were doing, so were insincere.

That hurt, it was like finding out that both your parents were participents in a paedophile ring, when they had told you they were the most moral people on Earth.

many of you may know that i was brought up a witness and stayed in until the age of 42, even reaching the dizzy heights of being a congregation elder.

i was unusual in that, even as a witness i studied to degree level, on a part time basis, sponsored by my employer.

my first was in chemistry and my masters is in business administration.

I think you should be careful about talking about any subject if you have little knowledge of it. other's faith or whatever.

You believe the Bible to be inspired you say, O.K then I ask WHY? Just having a belief with nothing to back it up is verging on the idiotic.

And, if you do not feel that the faith of other religions is as valid as yours, you must have reasons for that position, if you feel as I do, that their faith is just as valid as yours, then say so, what is the problem ?

as expected, it is following on from similar trends to the last 15 years.

Slimboy, it was long my heartfelt hope that someday a manuscript would be discovered that put this question to bed. That was when I was an active JW, and I just so much wanted their postion to be vindicated, as I had an appreciation that their argument was pretty thin.

I see where you are coming from, and maybe you will be proved right, but the JW position seems to be based on the idea that "Satan" was determined to have the divine name removed, it was a conspiracy of evil.

The reality is much more prosaic, but I have a suspicion, with no more proof than your conjecture, that the Name may have been left out for reasons of doctrine and dogma rather than anything else, that even in early days there was an incipient desire to establish the divinity of Christ , and by obfuscating the clear meaning of O.T passages by leaving out the name this cause was easier to promote.

I may be reading back into the past what has obviously occured since, but I do wonder if it was not so much a "Satanic" conspiracy but one of people who wished to promote the cult of Jesus in opposition to that of Mithras and the other contenders of the time.

Ucantnome seems to be taking the old easy way out instead of answering the questions that challenge.

"You can't pronve the Bible is not inspired " Oh gawd, here we go, let me explain, if you claim it is inspired , the onus of proof is on you, we , who doubt , cannot prove a negative.

You will not comment on others faith, why not ?

Either their faith is as valid as yours or it is not, either way, you must have reasons for believing thus.

I think you do not understand the nature of a debating forum such as this, you cannot come here, make assertions, and then when you are called on to back them up say , " I decline to go further".

If you do that we say "we decline to give any of your opinions respect" they do not deserve it.

Put up or shut up.
