  a few years ago at one of the conventions, there was a talk on gods remarkable creation.

  one of the slides showed a giant sequoia tree, approximately 5000 years old!.

  later another talk was about noah etc.

  One real killer for the idea of a Global flood, is a plant called Kings Lomatia, It is probably the oldest living thing on the Planet, in that it propagates itself in such a way that the original plant still lives, and is 40,000 years old !

  Here is the knock out punch, it could not survive for any length of time under salt water ! I have an e-mail from the Professor who is the World expert on the planet, confirming that fact.

  As to which local flood or floods gave rise to the myths, it is difficult to say, but certainly the myths are much older than when Noah's flood was supposed to happen, and no major flood of unusual proportions took place in the Middle East at that time.

  truth b known, I always thought it would be great if they threatened to DF me, to say, "But I have never been a member of your religion, how can you DF me from something I have never fellowshipped within ?"

  And then go on to outline how, since I left, about 14 years ago, it has All Changed !

  It truly is a different religion, not any better really, but I think they have got more sneaky in the way they make today's JW's THINK it is better, allowing them to do silly photo's etc. Oh how those suckers are being conned !

  im new to this forum, i dont know where else to post my story, sorry if im wrong for posting this on this subject.

  as i begin to wake up from being in the org i thought id introduce myself to this forum with how i was raised in the org..., ive been beginning to look at everyones stories from being raised as one and how they left, and i find comfort in knowing im not alone, so maybe another young person like me will find the same comfort reading my story.

  as you can tell by my username, i am posting this on an anonymous account because of fear of what the elders would do to me and my parents if they found out who i was.

  Welcome Anon,

  I really feel for you in your circumstances, I was born in, and in for decades, when I left I too had thoughts of suicide and sought the help of an excellent Therapist, I was lucky, many people in those professions do not quite get the problem, but even so, any help they can offer should be taken. They are trained to help you to not only cope, but to find your way out of Depression, and to control, or "bury" it forever more.

  I am so pleased and grateful I got that help. Within a short time I was O.K again, and I experienced for the first time in my life what real, lasting happiness really was ! As I grew as a person, I became happy in my own skin.

  You have a wonderful life of freedom in front of you, you will meet many lovely people, make great friends, and probably fall in love. We only get this one life, as far as we know, it is down to us to work at making it the best we can for ourselves, and make it our aim to make the life of others pleasant too.

  All the very best to you ! And come back and Post again, we are here to support and help you through this difficult period, which will end. One day you will feel, and say to yourself, " Isn't life just great ?".

  The words weird and retards come to my mind, no disrespect to J.W's intended, I mean that WOULD have been my first impression, that they came from some sort of Home for people with " difficulties".

  It still remains a place where exiting J.W's can receive advice and support, of varying quality.

  I too detest the Evil Org., especially over their disgusting handling of the Child Abuse issue. I do not feel great antipathy to individual J.W's , but cannot have respect for them, they support this Money making Scam that is J.W Org , and therefore Aid and Abet the continuing Abuse, of various kinds, that is rife within the J.W's.

  This is not an "Update", the change to the King of the North etc, by the Watchtower. It is a complete denial that what they taught as "truth", was in fact truth, it was nothing of the kind, as neither has been every rejected explanation of Scripture by them.

  If you point this out, they come up with the phrase "Present truth", but , as Charles Taze Russell pointed out, if what was taught was truth, then "new truth" would simply add to that truth, if the latter was totally rejected, it was not truth.

  They therefore show that they have mostly taught error, for 150 years nearly, as truth, and yet if you did not swallow down this utter Bullshit at the time, you would be out on your ear , and lose family and friends.

  now we are thrust in this “ world” and take sides on social issues and politics.. just because our government leaders say something it doesn’t mean it’s right.

  I was born in, and in for nearly 6 decades. My critical Thinking skills were close to Nil. But, I had ever since I was very young, a thirst for knowledge, which I still have. I always read a lot. Still do.

  But most of my J.W contemporaries were downright lazy, they read little, and thought less, I think the ones who read a fair bit and thought a bit, nearly all left before me. In fact one Elder said to me " We are losing all the intelligent ones", which made me wonder, but not quite enough at that time.

  I think the ones who have left in the last few years are often of the " Lazy Class" LOL, so used to having been spoon fed what they should read and think, that they have lazy reading habits, and nil Critical Thinking skills. You can see that by the comments they make on here , and the questions they ask. of course there are exceptions to this generalisation.

  It does take a little effort to read enough, and then you need to Fact Check what you have read, google etc can often be false friends.

  But it is such a joy to be able to spot bullshit straight away, or at least in a short time of Fact Checking, such a joy to round out your knowledge, and a joy to not be misled.

  The Lazy Class are not using their freedom as they should, and are missing out on becoming what they should.

  thankfully, c19 appears to be waning as the summer comes in.. 2017/18 'flu deaths: england & wales = 50,100, scotland - 23,137, & n.i.

  - 1500. total = 74,637.

  There have been more than 290,000 confirmed cases of corona virus in the UK and just over 41,000 people have lost their lives, Government figures show.

  The estimate for the real number of deaths is in excess of 60,000 due to a lag in reporting and collating, plus a good number go unreported, this figure of in excess of 60K is obviously a guess, but made by people who are respected.

  I see no sign of a " Flattening of the Curve (s)" yet.The curve for total Cases, and the other for Total Deaths.

  We are, sadly, creeping toward the 74,000 mark.
