You are not so much invisible as some people are blindly inconsiderate.

Can someone please help me?
by ruderedhead inhello, i'm new to posting here, although i have been reading and gaining insight for quite a while.
thank you to all of you.. i wrote a letter of disassociation this week, and sent it to the local kh.
i have been faded for a number of years, and after much research, know that the witnesses do not have the truth.

Drunken Uncle In Law
by TOTH inthere is nothing like being pre-emptively shunned by my wife's family.
i started growing out my hair and beard years ago so of course everyone on her side of the family has been a little bit standoffish when i show up.
when her aunts and uncles go see her dad i tend to escort her to her dad's house, politley say hello then come back home.

DOC, it's so funny because when he "Had" the elders at his congregation over for "SHRIMP" dinner to butter them up to tell them he wanted to be made into an elder, they said no. LMAO! So he got mad and switched to the other Spanish congregation. He soon tried to SHRIMP those elders up as well. When they told him no because of his KNOWN drunkenness and brawling he threatened to beat them up! LOL They declined despite the threat. What an A$$HOLE!

Another day, another apostate. Here's my story.
by I Want to Believe inbeen lurking for a bit, and feel safe enough now to tell my story (condensed).. i'm a third-generation born-in, but my parents were inactive for most of my upbringing.
this means i got the worst of both worlds--no worldly friends (home schooled all but grades 2-3), no witness friends (since we never went to the hall except for memorial), and a generally isolated upbringing in a tiny, tiny town.
needless to say, my emotional, social, and personal growth were stunted.

Hi Flipper, you're right. In a movie about Judge Roy Bean, someone said, "A reformed anything is bad enough, but a reformed harlot is the direct wrath of the Devil." I am guessing that this was said BEFORE jw's were on the scene...LOL
I can't remember where I heard COUNT DRUNKULA before but I did swipe another comment from Two and a Half Men. I refer to his wife as teh Bride of Drunkenstein. LOL
Your ex fatehr in law sounds like a real doosh as well. WHO stops speaking to a grandchild?

I started growing out my hair and beard years ago so of course everyone on her side of the family has been a little bit standoffish when I show up. All uber jws and just creepy to me.
Well, one of her uncles lives next door to her dad. He is an abusive, wife beating alcoholic. He thinks that because his kids are all pioneers and the son an ms that he deserves to be an elder, even though he hardly went to meetings or service when the kids were growing up. Well, they all turned out to be "Good JWs" despite him. LOL So the past few years he has been on a mission. MAKE ELDER...Hypocrite. So he took it upon himself to start mini shunning us.
Today I saw him at the check out line grocery store and he decided to try to pressure me about going to the memorial. I told him that since they claim Jesus came in 1914 that there was no need to stage a memorial anymore. He didn't know what to say! LOL So I asked why all of a sudden he decided to speak to me. I told him he better not count the time and he just looked at me and got mad! My son came up to the line with a couple of things and I said that we were being treated to a visit by count DRUNKula...He stormed off....
I can't WAIT for the scolding we will get for that one.

My 18-yr old college freshman nephew has just been cut off for leaving the JWs...
by Alfred ini spoke about him in a previous thread... he's the nicest kid you'll ever meet... smart, humble, shows respect and is very kind to everyone around him... except for one minor thing... you guessed it... he no longer believes in the jw religion.
also, he feels it is simply a place for hopeless people to gather and give each other moral support without actually doing anything productive to better their lives... i won't get into the details on how he arrived at this conclusion... suffice to say, he did not want to be a part of this crowd any longer.. incredibly, when he was a lot younger, he was able to convince his jw father (a po) and his jw mother (my sister) that they should let him go to college when he turns 18 (and help him pay for it!!!).
so they started putting some money away and my nephew has been in college since september!.

by PaintedToeNail inmy spouse and i had supper with some long time friends this evening.
we got onto the subject of baptisim, and out of the four of us, we all got baptized for some other reason than love of jehovah.
i find this to be really sad.

I was also highly moral and devout AND a jw, but I enjoyed pornography every single DAY I was in the borg. The contradictions one learns to tolerate when wanting to please two masters! Or should I say MASTURS....LOL
