  i really enjoyed church today, i have been visting serevel in the last few weeks, all the ones i have been to have been okay, but no more, but today i felt comfortable with everything i seen.

  it seemed very doctrinally sound, christ centered and the big bonus i did not hear a word about money!

  they did not pass a plate(i dont know if they do but today there was none).

  Finally, it must be considered that Jesus did, in fact, speak against homosexuality. On numerous occasions, Jesus condemned the sins of adultery (Matthew 19:18), sexual immorality (Matthew 19:9) and fornication (Matthew 15:19). These terms describe any type of sexual intercourse that is not within the confines of a marriage ordained by God. Jesus then proceeded to define exactly what God views as a morally permissible marriage. He stated:
  

  Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh”? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate (Matthew 19:4-6).
  
  By defining marriage as between one male and one female, Jesus effectively condemned all other arrangements, including but not limited to one man and two women, one woman and two men, three men and one woman, three men and three women, one man and one man, one woman and one animal, etc. You can see the overwhelming logic of such. For Jesus to have to explicitly condemn every assortment of genders and numbers would be absurd. When He defined marriage between one man and one woman, He clearly showed that such an arrangement is the only one authorized by God.
  
  Several years ago a man named Cory Moore “legally married his 2004 Cherry ES-335” Gibson guitar (“Man Marries Guitar,” 2007). He said: “The day I got her, I just knew she was the one…. I know it seems weird, but I really love her—like, really love her, with all my heart. I just wanted to make it official” (2007). Are we to conclude that because Jesus never specifically condemned a man marrying his guitar then the Son of God approved of such? To ask is to answer. In 2006, 41-year-old Sharon Tendler married a dolphin (“Woman Marries Dolphin,” 2006). Jesus never said one word explicitly about refraining from marrying a dolphin. Does that mean His “silence” should be viewed as approval? Not in any way.

  what happened to you was terrible, but seeing you used as a tool for a political agenda is like watching you get raped without knowing it.

  we believe guns hurt and killed people you care about, but we also belileve these people had mental illness.

  I personally would feel safer if more people would get their concelaed hand-gun permit. I watched a teen kid at our old church grow up and become a police officer. He was always packing after that, even in church. Was kinda nice.

  apparently (i'm taking others' word for it) the watchtower publications are asserting that "apostates," i.e., those who have chosen to no longer be jehovah's witnesses, are "mentally diseased.

  " there are some important issues with this assertion.. first, they are not mental health professionals and in no position to diagnose mental illness.

  do they believe we all have the same "mental disease," or are there different diagnoses for different people who come to their senses?.

  I was certainly Mentally Dis-eased when I left. They are telling the truth. I got my mental dis Ease from the jettison of the generation prophecy and its omission from the Awake stating the the generation of 1914 would not pass away:

  "the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away." —Awake! magazine, page 4, thru October 22, 1995

  Then, after decades and hundreds of millions of printings

  it was re-worded to read:

  "the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things."

  —Awake! November 8, 1995, page 4

  Everyone just freakin acted like I was nut for objecting to this. That caused a lot of dis-ease for me.

  Finding dinosaur DNA is as unthinkable to an evolutionist as finding a flat earth would be to a geographer. This is because DNA decays far too quickly to last millions of years. Thus, a recent report of possible dinosaur DNA promises to meet resistance from secular scientists. But combined with new DNA decay data, it builds a strong argument against evolutionary time.

  Fossil experts have studied original dinosaur tissues and biochemicals for a long time. When tyrannosaur and hadrosaur bones from Montana were viewed under a microscope, they were found to harbor fresh-looking bone cells called osteocytes. Researchers even verified original—not mineralized—dinosaur proteins called collagen and elastin in 2009. 1

  The new report in the journal Bone identified vertebrate-specific proteins named actin and PHEX. It also described DNA in the dinosaur cells. 2

  Many secular scientists have sought to resolve the dilemma of fast-decaying biochemicals found deep within fossils by asserting that bacteria produced them after creeping into the bone sometime after the creatures were catastrophically buried. One way to help disprove the bacteria idea is to find exclusively animal proteins.

  The researchers did just that. They also applied two different DNA-sensitive stains to the osteocytes. Both stains visualized DNA in a central location inside the long-dead dinosaur cells—where the cell’s nucleus should be.

  They also applied an antibody that binds to a DNA-packaging protein called histone H4; bacteria do not have histone H4, but vertebrates do. The antibody bound its target, identifying yet another kind of original vertebrate protein. And the histone was sitting in the same nucleus-like central region within the cells. The stains and antibody did not bind other parts of the cell, nor the sediment that surrounded the dinosaur fossils. In short, this study strongly supported the presence of original dinosaur proteins and DNA.

  The dinosaur cells certainly contain DNA, and it sits right where one would expect if it were original dinosaur DNA. Without sequencing the DNA, it is difficult to be absolutely sure. However, scientists have reported ancient DNA from various fossils, including dinosaur bone. 3

  If it is dinosaur DNA, then it cannot be millions of years old because of the results of a separate study. Scientists examined 158 ancient leg bones from the extinct giant moa bird that lived on New Zealand’s South Island. The study authors generated a DNA decay rate with unprecedented rigor. 4

  The moa research team measured the half-life of DNA to be 521 years under average local temperatures. 5 After this time, only half of the amount of DNA present when the animal died should remain. And after another 521 years, only half of that remains, and so on until none is left. At this rate, DNA molecules in bone break down after only 10,000 years into tiny chemical segments too short for modern technology to sequence. And this result assumes preservation factors that optimize biochemical longevity.

  DNA could not last half a million years, but paleontologists describe DNA in samples designated millions of years old. Ditching the millions-of-years dogma would resolve this dilemma. The clearly detected dinosaur proteins and what looks like dinosaur DNA make sense if the earth layers that contain them were deposited by Noah’s Flood only thousands of years ago.

  End of the world prophecy - Why pertinent to now? Nothing will happen, I assure you!

  please let me rant then i'll go back and read my spider-man comics.. why do those that promote end of time prophecy have to make it all current?.

  i guess if we were told at the book of revelation for eg, (whatever chapter and verse), is for 3,000 years time i'd be surprised......and there's no money in it.

  believers would be discouraged methinks.. it seems to me that all this apocalypse now stuff is just to give our turgid lives excitement.

  Prophecies Currently Being Fulfilled

  1. The Jewish people will be regathered in unbelief from the four corners of the earth ( Isaiah 11:11-12 ). Fulfillment: 20th Century and continuing.
  2. The state of Israel will be re-established ( Isaiah 66:7-8 & Ezekiel 37:21-22 ). Fulfillment: May 14, 1948.
  3. The Jews will once again re-occupy the city of Jerusalem ( Zechariah 8:4-8 ), Fulfillment: June 7, 1967.
  4. The land of Israel will be reclaimed from its desolation, becoming once again a land of agricultural abundance ( Ezekiel 36:34-35 ). Fulfillment: 20th Century and continuing.

  6. All the nations of the world will come together against Israel over the issue of the control of Jerusalem ( Zechariah 12:1-3 ). Fulfillment: Currently occurring.

  Prophecies Yet To Be Fulfilled

  1. The Arab nations of the world will attack Israel in a coordinated effort to annihilate the state (Psalm 83).
  2. Israel will soundly defeat the Arab alliance ( Zechariah 12:6 ).

  4. A Russian coalition consisting mainly of Muslim nations will invade Israel ( Ezekiel 38:1-17 ).
  5. The Russian coalition will be destroyed supernaturally by God ( Ezekiel 38:18-23 & 39:1-8 ).
  6. The Antichrist will intervene and guarantee the security of Israel, enabling the Jews to rebuild their Temple ( Daniel 9:27 ).
  7. At the end of three and a half years, the Antichrist will enter the rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem and declare himself to be God ( Daniel 9:27 , Matthew 24:15-18 , & 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 ).
  8. The Jews will reject the Antichrist, and he will respond with an attempt to annihilate them, killing two-thirds of them in the process ( Revelation 12:13-17 & Zechariah 13:8-9 ).
  9. At the end of the Tribulation, when the Jews have come to the end of themselves, they will turn to God and receive Yeshua as their Messiah ( Zechariah 12:10 , Romans 9:27-28 , & Romans 11:25-27 ).
  10. Jesus will return and regather all believing Jews to Israel ( Deuteronomy 30:1-9 ).
  11. Israel will be established as the prime nation in the world ( Isaiah 2:1-4 & Micah 4:1-7 ).
  12. The Lord will bless the Jewish remnant by fulfilling all the promises He has made to Israel ( Isaiah 60:1-62:7 ).
  13. The blessings of God will flow out to all the nations through the Jewish people during the Millennial rule of Jesus ( Zechariah 8:22-23 ).

  i guess i am more of a reader than author.

  that being said i am happy to announce i am no longer one of the jehovah's witnesses.

  Sorry to hear about your troubles Freeof1914.

  I came to the conclusion that despite enormous will-power, the Christian life (as described in the NT) cannot be lived out without being born again. Thankfully the bible does not reccommend the try harder-run faster-jump higher advice of the WT writers. The WT has it wrong. The human will is not enough for people to live out the life many want - freedom from sin.

  For me, the harder I tried to live the idyllic life that I wanted, the worse it got. After a while, it made me feel crazy. Willpower looks good on the outside only. The KJV goes so far as to call in idolatry - worship of willpower. I found the the WT advice on sin to be nothing short of toxic.

  Colossians 2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship,

  Romans 11:6 And if by grace , then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace . But if it be of works, then is it no more grace : otherwise work is no more work .

  If the human will was enough to please God, (or ourselves for that matter) what did Jesus die for? Working for salvation is a slap in God's face and only racks up more sin debt that we owe:

  Romans 4:4 Now to him that worketh, is the reward not reckoned of grace , but of debt.
