  i know that the dub's view is that it is totally wrong.

  i live in an area where the majority of people think it is wrong.

  i don't think it is wrong (but i am not a homosexual).

  gumby, good points.

  It may seem that many people who post on this board are of the opinion that any moral judgements are ridiculous. However, our politically correct posters do share with the rest of non-psychopathic mankind an innate sense of right and wrong.

  Here's the real issue:
  Like all totalitarians, marxists, humanists, and the politically correct want to squash all competition and are really after control, control, control.

  What the far left on this board does is immediately pounce on anyone who even hints at "right or wrong" because it tends to glide into Good and Evil. This implies an outside standard and moral rules that cannot be changed by human authority. This is very unsettling to the self worshiper.

  They want to measure, quantify and science-ize everything. The secularists don't hate moral judgements because they think it to be foolish. Disney is foolish and it isn't attacked.

  To the psuedo-marxist the crime is not morality, because even they have a form of that; the crime of morality isn't crime, it is the ALLEGIANCE it inspires. Since it is based on an exterior Source,
  the marxists and humanists are jealous of the competition....that's all.

  It is difficult to have near total control over a population if they believe in moral absolutes. The leadership just might find themselves judged by such a population. Take away right and wrong, and all you need is a veneer of "science" or "expert" opinion and Whalla, you have Soviet America!

  working in the publishing business has its perks, and one of those is getting to see new releases of books that sometimes never land in the bookstores.

  today, i happened to be reading through some product literature that i had put off for some time and discovered a book that was published a few months ago about the usage of drugs in the bible.

  it is hard for me to transcibe certain feelings into written words especially since i'm not what you would consider to be a real emotional person.

  i have also mastered the art of rarely showing any outward emotional expression.

  i will try and do my best to give you some of the feelings i experienced today through my eyes, so please bare with me.. i drove the hour to mcminnville which is a small town about forty miles south of portland.

  I felt like I was there through your heartfelt post. Thank you very much.

  I wish I could say that I was emotional through the reading, and I'm surprised at myself for not being so. Probably it will hit me tomorrow. All I felt was black emptiness and strange sense of defeat.

  When I read no one from the fathers family even came to the funeral, waves of anger swept over me.

  I hope everyone who is still in the org. will use this experience to face the painful truth that YOUR WITNESS RELATIVES CANNOT LOVE YOU THE WAY NORMAL PEOPLE CAN BECAUSE OF THE WBTS.

  Just a few weeks ago I posted a thought to the effect that some person that already has problems most likely will snap in a murderous rage because of WT policies. And now I'm reading about it. I was talking about it being directed against the WBTS. Although this incident was directed inward; IMO it is just a matter of time before someone else snaps and directs it toward those responsible.

  I sincerely hope the governing body is following this thread and thinks seriously about the consequences of their murderous and hideous policy of shunning.

  unlike jw life, we get to have a say in what kind of life we experience for ourselves and our children.

  I totally agree Joel Bear. The founding fathers knew that the majority can and would be wrong at times. Many of them really didn't trust the public very much. We've seen the bill of rights do what it was intended for, and has at times overturned the will of the majority, rightly so.

  So, the question is really if the issue meets the standard of the bill of rights and its' applicability to this document.

  peacefulpete, I have read your responses and I asked you to clarify with a couple of questions. Instead of making yourself clear you tell me that I don't understand new science. Then, you tell me that you don't understand it either. But, you maintain that your untestable, unverifiable position is indeed science....just not the kind of science that we can understand.

  Isn't it true that your position is basd entirelty on theory that is, at present time outside the realm of factual data in a laboratory? We all learned what the scientific method was in the 6th grade. Let's not pervert science to suit a belief system. That would be very ...uh, unhumanistic of us. Why do Humanists have such a hard time in admitting that they have no idea how the cosmos got here? Ahh, I get it. If they did that, they would be on equal footing with other supernatural religions right?

  Again, I believe it grossly unfair to teach in schools one theory to the exclusion of others. Just because some people want it very much to be fact will never make it so. Unless you can present data to the contrary, you have only succeeded in demonstrating that the core of your religion (Secular Humanism)is pseudo-science. From a scientific standpoint, you might as well base it on unicorns or elves.

  How many nuclear wars would there be if there were no nuclear bombs?

  Carmel, that is the exact same argument JW's use to avoid their responsibility to defend their countries against invasion. They reason:

  "If everyone in the world was a JW then there would be no war". Now, how likely is it that the entire world will submit to the governing body in Brooklyn? It is about the same liklihood of getting every person in the world agree to never build a nuclear bomb.

  Those that fail to appreciate their freedom now just might wake up one day and wonder where all their freedom went.
