All people die. Sin separates them from the Source of Life. Jesus built a bridge back to the Source of Life. God causes Life. Sin causes death.

This is the traditional Christian view of what happened to your spirit when you died prior to Jesus' death payment. You either went to Paradise or Tartarus, both were different parts of Hell (Hades). During the three days Jesus was dead, he went to Hell and liberated the Paradise portion of Hell (Hades), and those spirits went to Heaven to await the resurrection of their bodies but now enjoyed direct fellowship with God through the blood-atoning value of Jesus.
What Paul experienced was actually being in two places at the same time. His body was alive and breathing on earth while his spirit was supernaturally briefly taken to heaven. That is why he didn't know quite what happened.

Did Jesus really exist?
by slimboyfat ini had been wondering over the past few years whether there really was a historical jesus at all, until a few months ago when i read bart ehrman's latest book "did jesus exist?
" initially i was persuaded by his argument that the nt contains multiple sources that testify to jesus' existence.
but more recently i have been reading the christ myth position of richard carrier and his responses to ehrman.

The whole world started counting time from the birth of a man who never lived?
I don't think so. Rather, the whole world started counting time from the birth of a man that not only lived... but lived TWICE.

JWs treat soldiers as they treat the blood banks, they only enjoy their benefits!!!!!
Excellent observation, they enjoy their benefits while cursing them.

The not going to war excuse just feeds their pride. Ask your wife if she was being attacked if she would want you to fight the attacker. Then ask if she would want the same assistance given to her next door neighbor. What about the neighbor three doors down, the next street, the next city, country and so on. Where does one's responsibility stop in regard to their neighbor?
JW's rarely reason on this because they would have to forfeit a major source of pride and perceived moral superiority on this issue... not to mention actually believe the bible.
We must not forget that Cornelius was an active duty roman army officer when baptized.
Rom 13:1,3-4,6 (NIV) Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established... Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing... This is why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing.
1 Pet 2:13-14 (NIV) Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.
Temporary, Practical Submission To Worldly Authority Versus Eternal Submission To God
Luke 20:20-25 (NIV) Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be honest. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor. So the spies questioned him: "Teacher... is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?" He saw through their duplicity and said to them, "Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and inscription are on it?" "Caesar's," they replied. He said to them, "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."
John 18:36 (GLT) Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would have fought that I might not be delivered up to the Jews. But now My kingdom is not from here."
When (And Only When) Not To Obey The Authorities Of This World
Acts 4:19 (TEB) But Peter and John answered them, "You yourselves judge which is right in God's sight, to obey you or to obey God."
Acts 5:28 (NIV) "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name..." Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men!"

Too many changes mean more changes to come
by Verenda ini just joined this site after researching the recent 'new light" my daughter is an unbaptized witness, as well as her husband and my grandchildren.
i was baptized in the 80s but i am inactive for years now because of changes and inconsintancies etc.. .
if the sheep and the goats teaching has been changed to happen after the great tribultaion, or after armageddon then this would mean that everyone would not be seperated or judged until after armageddon has occured.

Hi Verenda,
I still believe in Jehovah and the basic teaching in the bible, so where do I go now? thanks
Perhaps the question should not be where, but whom. That's what Jehovah said: " And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him."
As a former regular pioneer and 4th generation JW I used to hear what the watchtower, circuit overseer, my conscience, elders etc; had to say. Now I only hear Jesus.
It sure made things alot simpler for me.

Do you make your own soup?
by compound complex ingreetings, soup lovers:.
i have a huge kitchen at my disposal (not my own); vegetables, cans of this and that and spices are scattered about, prepared to go into a cauldron of minestrone i started a few days ago.
i'm preparing ahead so as to freeze the leftovers to heat up later at home over my hotplate.. nothing like a 6-burner gas range to simmer over!.
