well the day he and his best buds have been waiting for is here.
they are in dallas going to their first huge concert ,,,,,, i am not sure all the bands that are playing , but it is going to be a once in a lifetime thing.......so i let him go.. i am a little nervous about it , but i am so happy that he is living the life that i never could.
i pray and hope they make it home safe and sound,,,,,,,i know i have to let him go little by little, usually i would say , not safe,,,,and say no.

My son's getting to that age (yikes!). But, you're right - we have to let them go little by little & trust we taught them the right things. And while its difficult - its very nice when they do the right things, make the right choices & behave like we hope they would.....and it sounds like you've raised a good one Dede (and WT)....so just be proud!

(((Vivamus))) - omg - I can so relate to your situation. When my grandmother died 18 years ago, she left behind 12 children. My grandmother was not a "wealthy" woman by any stretch of the imagination, didn't matter. By the time all the arguing had died down....my father's family lay in ruins. We actually had to have an AUCTION to distribute her estate - for family members only. To watch all those grown men & women behave the way they did made me sick to my stomach.
Not much of a tribute to a very lovely woman.
Families can be that way some times, and because of their "familiarity" they seem to be able to argue about money with a vengence. I'm sorry you have to watch it, and I hope that this doesn't do lifelong damage as it did with my own.

i took my kids on a vacation to disney world...their dream vacation, actually, although it didn't turn out that way.
midway through we get a call that their grandmother (the real one, who was never a dub and who hasn't ever turned her back on the kids or on me even thru my divorce from her son, unlike my own jw mother) is in serious condition at the hospital.
we spent one of our 'vacation' days sitting in a hospital icu waiting room, timing our 15 minute visits so that we could see her, and throughout it all the kids were troopers.

I am so sorry to hear of this....nope - sometimes its just no fun. Your daughter sounds like one dear heart of a little girl, and brave & courageous - just like her mom!

i experienced a situation not to long ago and was left wondering.
if you that you rathers would you rather have an insincere apology or none at all?
i find myself left with a kinda sick pissed-off feeling when i get a "i'm sorry but....this is why blah blah blah" what do you think??
I would think that would depend on the situation. If the apology was a sincere one, with an explanation of why something was done/said - then that doesn't make for insincerity.
Usually an apology is accompanied by an explanation isn't it??? "I'm sorry I was rude to you on the phone, but I was having an awful day and the cat had just thrown up on the carpet". This doesn't make the apology any less sincere.
Sometimes, how we take an apology really is a reflection moreso on ourselves. Do we wish to "forgive", or are we seeking to further our own anger & hostility towards the situation.
If the apology is truly "insincere", then of course none at all is more honest, and better.
so my mom calls me up today here at work and asks me how things are going.
she goes on about the usual stuff, latest gossip, and other things i don't really care to hear about.
she asked me how i am coming along in my "studies" with my assigned elder.

I think your mother is probably rueing the day she encouraged as much personal study as possible!

I think Franz should address the issue, or stop addressing any issue....This man made the rules, answer or your silence will speak for you..

Little witch - I do not understand for the life of me how anyone could "believe" anything, especially allegations such as this (i.e. Ray Franz has direct knowledge of child abuse done by Governing Body members) without actual proof.
I am all for the WTBS burning for their child abuse policies - believe me - they cost me dearly. But I am not for damaging a reputation of an individual just because they happened to be a governing body member at one point.
Seems to me that Bill's just trying to force Ray into saying something, or admitting something that Ray says he does not know. IW (whom I GREATLY respect btw) comes along and basically says this is true, without posting evidence.

This is an almost direct accusation (imho). If she's going to "alledge" these type of things, that an actual GB member is guilty of the same despicable deed. By publically acknowledging her change of heart, and stating for a fact that Bill Bowen was right in his ongoing crusade against Ray Franz, then it would be nice for us who #1 - Admire Ray Franz' work and #2 - Are members of silentlambs (which I am).
No one wants to see the WTBS answer for their despicable handling of sexual child abuse more than I, for my own reasons. But, I also do not think it fair to continuously have allegations coming up, without hard evidence against another who also has been great in showing the WTBS for what they are, albeit in a different way.
